Story
Monty 18 months old, good boy, takes a bit to warm up. Monty was adopted as a puppy during the shut down from COVID. When things opened up, his adopter surrendered him to animal control - due to no time. Since Monty's formative months he was in quarantine with his adopter and was not socialized well. He just needs a home to help him be the best he can be.  Once he knows you he is a great boy with lots of energy to run and play :) We require   that you have a fenced in yard, not a "kennel" in the yard AND we do not approve underground fencing. Depending upon the dog some exceptions are made for those who live in apartments.   We also require that the adoptee will be a part of the family "living" within the home. Our adoption process may be found on our website at www.bitofheaven.org Visits are scheduled by appointment only via emailing request to ownedbycaninesandlovit@yahoo.com   September 13, 2024, 12:05 am

Story
This handsome guy is Blu, Boxer, 5ish years old, great boy! Blu would do best as an only dog or with a submissive female, no cats, no young children. He is protective of the ones he loves so hiking would be good for Blu but, street walking not so much. We require   that you have a fenced in yard, not a "kennel" in the yard AND we do not approve underground fencing. Story
Meet King!King is a 37lb, 8-year-old Boxer mix with a big heart and a playful spirit. He came to the shelter with another dog when their owner was experiencing homelessness, and through it all, King has stayed cheerful and full of life. This handsome guy loves his toys—especially a good game of tug! He still has lots of energy and will happily let you know when he’s ready to play—King is quite vocal when he wants your attention or a play session to begin. It’s all part of his charming, expressive personality. He doesn’t seem to mind other dogs and often invites them to join in on the fun, making him a great candidate for a home with a canine companion. He’s looking for a loving home where he can play, be heard, and enjoy the stability he deserves. If you’re searching for a loyal, fun-loving buddy with plenty of personality, King might be your perfect match. We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@johnsoncounty.in.gov for an application. You can also find one on our website at http://johnsoncountyanimalshelter.com/adopt/. Once an application is submitted and approved, we can set an appointment to meet the pet!

Story
Rhea is a 4-year-old female Boxer who is spayed, vaccinated, house trained, and crate trained. Due to changes in our family structure and dynamic, we need to find her a new home. She is great with people, knows basic commands, and is an energetic, playful dog. She also loves lazy days and cuddling on the couch or in bed with owners, but she does fine sleeping in her own bed when asked. A PET-FREE HOME IS REQUIRED: Rhea has had issues with unprovoked aggression toward other animals (cats and dogs) in the home, so she must be the only pet. However, she typically plays well with other dogs at the park and on walks. She had littermate syndrome, which could contribute to her behavior towards pets in the home. She also has mild seasonal alopecia. Nightly melatonin helps and is a common cure. Please message me with a bit about your home and experience if you think you may be a good fit. Toys, feeding station, two beds, various blankets, and crate included. FREE to a good home.
