**I am in a foster home!**The only thing Legend loves more than romping around in the yard is people, although sometimes it takes a second. She is full of that super cute puppy energy that makes everyone smile. This sweet goofball loves to run free in the yard or chase after squeaky toys. She does great with other dogs and is showing excellent promise with her housetraining and crate training!

Story
Ruster is a quiet, sensitive dog who warms up slowly but shows steady, gentle behavior with handling. When approached at his kennel, he comes forward calmly with a low tail and is easy to leash. He walks out of his kennel without hesitation and moves through the hallway quietly, offering small tail wags to familiar faces. On leash, he walks very well with no pulling, keeping a loose and steady body posture.Outside, Ruster is polite and easy to handle. He allows full-body petting and will approach when his handler crouches down, though he may not always be interested in prolonged affection. He seems more comforted by calm presence than by pets, and he takes treats gently. His tail remains low, but not tucked, indicating that he is cautious but managing his environment well. He shows no concerning behaviors.During enrichment, Ruster continues to walk beautifully on leash and enjoys long, quiet walks. In the grassy run, he shows little interest in toys but enjoys chasing his handler in short bursts and exploring the space at his own pace. Ruster is a gentle, nervous dog who needs time, patience, and a calm environment to fully open up. With a supportive adopter, he has the potential to grow into a steady, trusting companion. Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.

Story
Meet Ashley, a sweet Boxer Mix who is about 4-and-a-half years old and weighs around 50 pounds. Although she found a home shortly after her arrival, circumstances changed, and now she is looking for her forever family once more. Ashley is a gentle and timid soul, radiating warmth and love that will surely melt your heart. She has had positive experiences with children and other dogs, showcasing her adaptability and making her a wonderful addition to any family. Ashley is also crate-trained and has the potential to be a fantastic walking companion, especially as she works on shedding a few extra pounds. Story
Meet Eddie, formerly known as Titan, a dashing young dog whose breed mix may be a mystery, but his charm is as clear as day—he`s 100% adorable! After a rocky start in an overcrowded shelter, Eddie found himself back in the limelight, ready to wiggle his way into your heart! With a personality that`s as bouncy as a rubber ball, this “wiggly pup” loves everyone he meets and shares his foster home with a cat—talk about a purr-fect match! While Eddie is generally friendly with most dogs, he can be a bit choosy about his furry companions, so we encourage careful introductions to ensure a harmonious home. If you`d like to meet Eddie/Titan, please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

Story
My name is Duke and I am an extremely attractive and intelligent one-year old Boxer-American Bully mix.I mean, look at my pictures. I’m stunning. I was on the street on my own for a while before getting my foster mom and siblings. I was used to living the wild party street life and it took me a little bit to get used to my new home. Fortunately, I am very intelligent and attractive so I learned quickly and my foster mom became enamored with my squishy jowls so she didn’t give up on me. I’ve learned to sit, lay down, walk on a leash, and play with toys. I like to dine in exclusive places, so I eat by myself in the dining room. I am also very athletic and I need a 6 foot fence that I can’t jump over, because I will (and I’m really good at it!). Right now I go out in the yard and have a tether or my foster mom walks me on a leash in the yard. I also like to have crate time when my foster family is gone. As my foster mom says, ‘Because puppies eat my stuff and that means you, Mister.’ I would love nothing more than to have a sibling or 5 that I could play with all the time. It’s my favorite thing! I am always trying to play with my foster siblings and they don’t appreciate my enthusiasm enough. I’ve been learning how to play nicer with my foster mom and my foster siblings, but I am not perfect yet. I will be, though. I will be an even more amazing fella once I’ve had some more good leadership and have a home of my own where I can run and play with other dogs.

Story
Monty 18 months old, good boy, takes a bit to warm up. Monty was adopted as a puppy during the shut down from COVID. When things opened up, his adopter surrendered him to animal control - due to no time. Since Monty's formative months he was in quarantine with his adopter and was not socialized well. He just needs a home to help him be the best he can be.  Once he knows you he is a great boy with lots of energy to run and play :) We require   that you have a fenced in yard, not a "kennel" in the yard AND we do not approve underground fencing. Depending upon the dog some exceptions are made for those who live in apartments.   We also require that the adoptee will be a part of the family "living" within the home. Our adoption process may be found on our website at www.bitofheaven.org Visits are scheduled by appointment only via emailing request to ownedbycaninesandlovit@yahoo.com   September 13, 2024, 12:05 am
