Story
Rilee is an AMAZING dog. She is full of love, cuddles and more cuddles. She is high energy but also so so lazy. She is a BIG girl, and she definitely doesnt know it. She is the goofiest dog you will ever meet, she will have you laughing all day long. She is a good camper and adventure dog. She listens well, although she is skiddish and afraid of a new people and things initially. Because of another male dog in the home, she is caged a lot. This doesnt bode well with her energy or need for interaction. She has had some moments of aggression outside the home, and recently she has started to turn some towards Lola, my other female dog. It is unclear what triggers her, she is full of energy and I think she just gets overstimulated. Although she has never showed aggression towards humans, we have a toddler and with moments of being unpredictable, we have made the very tough decision to rehome. Rilee is so easy to love, contact me 3179992431 for more info and pics

Story
Meet King!King is a 37lb, 8-year-old Boxer mix with a big heart and a playful spirit. He came to the shelter with another dog when their owner was experiencing homelessness, and through it all, King has stayed cheerful and full of life. This handsome guy loves his toys—especially a good game of tug! He still has lots of energy and will happily let you know when he’s ready to play—King is quite vocal when he wants your attention or a play session to begin. It’s all part of his charming, expressive personality. He doesn’t seem to mind other dogs and often invites them to join in on the fun, making him a great candidate for a home with a canine companion. He’s looking for a loving home where he can play, be heard, and enjoy the stability he deserves. If you’re searching for a loyal, fun-loving buddy with plenty of personality, King might be your perfect match. We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. Story
Moira is a gentle, tender-hearted girl who may be shy at first—but once she feels safe, she blossoms into an incredibly loving, snuggly pup. After a short adjustment period, her true personality shines: a big wiggle-butt who loves affection and curling up on the couch for cozy naps. She has a medium energy level and a great balance of play and calm. Moira enjoys running around and engaging in play but is just as content relaxing nearby while you do chores. A daily short-to-medium walk helps keep her happy and settled. Moira is exceptional with handling and completely non-reactive to touch. She allows paws, ears, tail, mouth, and teeth to be handled without issue and especially loves belly rubs—even from people she’s just meeting. When unsure, she shows polite, submissive behavior, often rolling onto her back. She would make an excellent family dog, including in a home with younger children. Moira shows no food guarding with people or dogs and has calmly shared water bowls with another dog. She has noticed cats but has shown no reactivity, making her a hopeful candidate for a multi-pet home with proper introductions.Because of her past, Moira is still building confidence. She can be nervous in a crate and is working on potty routines, with steady improvement. She also has some separation anxiety and prefers being near her people, responding well to calming background noise when left alone. Moira is a loving, gentle soul who wants nothing more than a safe home, steady routine, and a family to call her own. With patience and reassurance, she will be an incredibly devoted companion. Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.

Story
Hank is an 8-year-old sweetheart with a calm, confident presence and a heart made for snuggling. Described as affectionate, chill, and delightfully lazy, Hank is the kind of dog who’s happiest lounging nearby, soaking up love, and keeping life low-key. He’s friendly, easygoing, and a total cuddle bug—an ideal companion for someone who appreciates a relaxed pace. Behaviorally, Hank is a dream. He’s consistently calm and easy to handle, with relaxed body language and loose tail wags during exams and procedures. He tolerates handling well and enjoys human attention, making him a wonderful candidate for a quiet, loving home. Hank does have ongoing medical needs that require follow-up care outside of the shelter. He is significantly overweight, which contributes to stiffness and overall health strain. Initial bloodwork showed signs consistent with inflammation and a low thyroid value (which may indicate an underlying thyroid condition and needs further testing), as well as low platelets that may be due to sample artifact and require confirmation. His chemistry values were otherwise unremarkable. On physical exam, Hank was noted to have dental disease, heavy shedding, overgrown nails, mild skin changes on his joints, and debris in his ears—findings that suggest chronic care needs best managed in a home with a veterinarian. Indianapolis Animal Care Services does not currently have an on-site veterinarian, and with limited resources, advanced diagnostics and ongoing medical care cannot be provided in-house. Hank would truly benefit from an adopter or rescue partner who can help him get the medical attention he needs and support him on a healthy, comfortable path forward. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly senior who gives love freely and asks for little more than comfort, patience, and care, Hank could be your perfect match.
