Story
Have you ever met a dog who can make you smile just by looking at him? That's Beetle! He’s impossible to miss with his stunning brindle coat. Beetle is a playful, fun-loving guy who loves spending time with people. Whether he's showing off his silly side, chasing a toy, or simply soaking up attention, he has a way of turning ordinary moments into something special. His goofy personality and expressive face keep everyone around him laughing. While Beetle enjoys making human friends, he prefers to take introductions to new dogs at his own pace. Like many dogs, he appreciates having the chance to get comfortable and build confidence before diving into new friendships. He is also looking for a cat-free home where he can be the best version of himself. If you're searching for a loyal companion with a big heart, a playful spirit, and a personality that's guaranteed to keep you entertained, Beetle may be the perfect fit for your family! *Recently, after consultation with our veterinary team, Beetle's breed has been updated from a Pit Bull mix to a Mastiff/Boxer mix*

Still a youngster, Zoidberg has plenty of puppy energy to spare; he loves going for walks, playing with toys, and getting in a good round of fetch. His Heeler side means he’s clever and quick to learn, while his Lab side shines through in his affectionate, loyal nature. Zoidberg is already neutered, heartworm tested, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations! Adoption Fee: $45.00

Story
I’m not a fan of cats, so I would prefer to live in a home without any. - TJ Dogs are usually tested with other dogs their size, and we encourage meet-and-greets with your dog before adoption. Cat tests are available if requested, but they only check for clear aggression. Always be careful when introducing dogs to cats. Advice about dogs living with children is based on behavior like energy level and how the dog handles touch. Young children should never be left alone with dogs, and we cannot guarantee how any dog will behave with kids or other pets. Behavior seen in the shelter is just a snapshot and may change in a home. Dogs come from many backgrounds and may need training, time, and patience. Dogs should not be fed together unless you know they do not guard food. We also suggest learning about a dog's breed or mix to be sure it fits your family. Moving to a new home can be stressful for dogs. Use the Rule of 3 to help them adjust: First 3 days: Dogs may feel scared, tired, overexcited, or not want to eat. First 3 weeks: Dogs start learning routines and may show new behaviors. Keep things calm and avoid busy places. First 3 months: Dogs usually feel settled and more comfortable. For more information, visit joplinhumane.org or contact the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri at 417-623-3642.

Story
Hi folks! Beetlejuice here! No, don’t worry about saying my name three times; that’s another guy. I am a brown and white male Boxer/mixed breed dog who was left here at Golden Paws. I’m not sure how old I am, because my prior hooman left me out in the yard without telling anyone. I do love people very much and even though at 60 to 100 lbs when I’m full grown I’m a big boy, I imagine myself as a lap dog. But, if you don’t have an industrial strength lap, I’m just as happy laying beside your chair and getting pets and giving kisses. Although I love everyone once I get to know them, I’m very comfortable with women right from the start. I guess that’s because I’ve been around more women than men. So, what do you say? Fill out an application and come see me. Spend a little time with me so we can be Pals for the rest of our lives. I’m the dog you’ve always wanted. When you come here, just say my name three times (Got Ya). LOVE BEETLEJUICE

Story
Update from his Foster Family 5/15/26: "Sett is the sweetest dog and has really opened up since staying in our home! He can be shy at first, but once he trusts you, which doesn't take long, he is so snuggly and sweet. He does well with our cats and other dogs, and even if they are vocal or try to irritate him at times, he stays calm and positive. He hasn't had direct contact, but has been around our chickens and ducks and seems relatively indifferent towards them. He loves to play with any toys that he can and he is very food motivated. We are working with him on being able to sit more consistently when directed to do so and he has really worked on this skill. He is able to go into his kennel with the prompt of "nap time" on most occasions and he is working on house training. He has so much love to give and would just love to go on walks and then snuggle up. He doesn't bark often and it has typically only been when he is excited about something and wants to communicate it to the world. He does great with our 9-year-old, but he is a big guy and does not always realize his size, so some caution should be given initially around smaller children because he gets excited and sometimes jumps up. He does have a sensitive stomach that requires special food, but with the food has not had any issues. He would make the most amazing addition to any home, and we truly love having him as a house guest."

Story
This handsome gentleman has spent years perfecting the art of being a loyal companion and is ready to find a family of his very own. Ronnie absolutely adores kids and enjoys spending time with people of all ages. He also does great with other dogs and would love a canine friend to hang out with. This smart boy already knows several commands, including sit and lay down, and he politely sits by the door when he needs to go outside. The only thing Ronnie asks for is a home without cats. In return, he'll offer years of love, companionship, and plenty of tail wags. If you're looking for a sweet, well-mannered best friend who is past the puppy stage but still full of love and life, Ronnie may be the perfect match for you! Ronnie is sponsored meaning he has NO ADOPTION FEE! He's already neutered, heartworm tested negative, up to date on vaccinations, and even microchipped so he's ready to go home.
