Story
Priscilla is a beautiful half lab half boxer. She has a lab head and boxer body. Her parents were both wonderful smart gentle dogs. Priss is very smart, minds well and is loyal. She loves the outdoors and loves to play fetch. She is house trained but you have to let her out during the day to go to the bathroom if you feed her in the morning. She is good with kids and adults. She would do well in a country setting. She has lived her whole life with two-sister dogs and each went with separated parents who could only have one dog. My only complaint is she shed as most labs do. If you keep her combed and bathed its ok. Shes a lovely loving dog. She needs a family with room to roam.

Story
Peggy is a 7 - 9 month old female Boxer mix. She has a high energy level, so she would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard with plenty of space for daily exercise and play. She is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called for snuggles and kisses. Peggy does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, she should be walking like a champ in no time! She is food motivated and knows the command sit. She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel and is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. Blaze is a 2 - 3 yr old male Boxer mix. He has a medium energy level, so he should fit well into most homes provided he receives a moderate amount of daily exercise and play. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and likes to sit by his person for snuggles and kisses. Blaze walks well on a leash with no pulling. He is food motivated and knows the command sit. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel and is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment.
