Story
Hello my name is Wink. At just 8 months old, I’m a big, handsome 70 pound pup with an even bigger heart, searching for a forever home to call my own. My journey hasn’t been easy—I was surrendered to a crowded, high-risk shelter in San Antonio, Texas, for reasons I’ll never understand. The noise, the stress, the uncertainty… it was overwhelming. My time there was running out, and I needed someone to see me—to believe I was worth saving.Every day, I did my best to shine. I kept my kennel clean, wagged my tail nonstop, and greeted everyone with gentle affection, hoping they’d choose me. But no one did. Maybe it was my size, or my age, or my right eye. I have a condition called microphthalmia, which means my right eye is smaller and doesn’t see well—but it doesn’t slow me down or cause me pain, and the vet says it doesn’t need to be removed. The shelter called me Skunk, but my foster dad saw something different—he named me Wink, and it fits me perfectly.Just hours before I was set to be euthanized due to overcrowding, Project Hope Animal Rescue stepped in and saved my life. From there, I began a 1,200+ mile journey north, carried by kind-hearted volunteers who gave me a second chance. Now, I’m ready to start my next chapter.I’m a sweet, affectionate boy with the perfect balance of playful puppy energy and gentle companionship. I adore people and have a special way of leaning into you for pets—it’s like a full-body hug. I may be big, but I’m all soft on the inside and thrive on love, attention, and being part of the family.I’m still young and eager to learn. I’m very treat-motivated and want to make my people happy, which makes training fun and rewarding. I’ve already learned how to shake and I’m getting the hang of “sit.” I walk well on a leash and am excited to keep learning with someone who will guide me with patience and positivity.I’d do best in an active home where I have room to run, play, and grow—a fenced yard would be required. More than anything, I just want to be included in everyday life, whether that’s going on adventures, playing outside, or relaxing close to my favorite people. The basics:• Fully vetted• Potty trained• Dog & cat friendly• Working on crate trainingAll I need now is someone willing to take a chance on me—and in return, I’ll give you a lifetime of loyalty, love, and companionship.Wink is fully vetted, vaccinated, neutered & microchippedHis adoption fee is $300.If you have any questions or concerns about Wink,  please email us at projecthoperescue@gmail.com. Story
Hi! My name is Ryah and I am an adorable, attentive, happy, Boxer/Hound puppy that is 8 months old.  I would love an active home with a family that will take me on walks and hikes.  I should do well with another dog and I am good with kids.  I haven't ever met a cat, but if introduced properly I should be just fine.  I would love a fenced in yard where I could run and explore.  I have soulful eyes and a big heart and would like nothing more than a family of my very own. I entered training for 10 weeks and will be ready to come home with my new family on July 31st. Submit your app today. I’m spayed and I’m UTD on all my vaccines, HW, FT, and have a microchip of my own.  RPSM recommends children 6 years and older.  I will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. My adoption fee is $300. ##2735680##

Story
Meet Jack: A Diamond in the Rough Looking for His Person At just one year old, Jack is still discovering that the world isn’t such a scary place. Because he didn’t get much socialization as a puppy, he starts off a bit "introverted" and cautious around new faces. But here is the secret: once Jack decides you’re his person, he transforms into the ultimate snuggle bug. He is a sweet, soulful boy who just needs a patient leader to show him the ropes. If you have a quiet home and a big heart, Jack will reward you with a lifetime of loyal tail wags and cozy couch cuddles.

Story
Meet Pete 👨‍🦳Good ol’ Petey here is an estimated 8 year old mix. He’s an older boy, but he doesn’t let that slow him down (too much). Pete still gets some “zoomies”, or at least his version of it. He’s not the fastest or the strongest boy around, but he still likes to be at least a little active. So long as he gets some space to prance around and some toys to play with, he’s a happy guy. He’s a well mannered boy who tends to keep his kennel clean. As much as he likes to play, he doesn’t tend to chew or be destructive with any of the blankets or dog beds he is given. He’s also a very gentle boy who gets along with everyone he’s met. He can be a little intimidating to other dogs at first, but he gets along with them well. Same with feline friends.Above everything though, Pete is a goofy, loyal snugglebug at heart. His desires are simple: a home to call his own and a person to snuggle up with at the end of the day. If you’re looking to add an older, certified Good Boy into your life, Pete is the perfect fit for you. 🐾

Story
Fern Fern is a Female Boxer mix DOB: November of 2025 Adoption fee: $200 I know I look serious in my photo, but I really am just a wiggle butt! If you know Boxers, then you know about the wiggle butt and that’s what I have! I wiggle while I eat, and I wiggle with a toy in my mouth, I wiggle when I walk. (I do have a full tail). I am a little bashful and need a little confidence building. In a home with consistency in my routine and training, I should gain the confidence I need to be the best friend you’ve ever had. Pending observed interaction, I should do well with children 8 years and older. Pending a meet and greet, I may match with another dog. I have not been tested with a cat, but if properly introduced to cats, I adapt fine. I have not been on a leash at this time and would do my best with a physically fenced yard. I may require it pending your previous experience, location or other plans for containment. I am a very nice pup with lots of potential. I just need a family to help reach that potential.

Story
Meet Ragnar ❤️Ragnar is the kind of dog that reminds you the best things in life don’t have to be loud or complicated. At 9.5 years old, this handsome guy is past the puppy chaos and fully embracing the “good boy with great manners” phase of life. He’s incredibly sweet, gentle, and just happy to be around people. Ragnar seems to get along well with other animals and has been nothing but lovable since arriving at the shelter. He’s the kind of companion who would probably enjoy a comfy couch, a soft bed, and simply being near his person. And the best part? Ragnar is completely ready for his fresh start. He’s neutered, heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, and hoping his next chapter includes a family to call his own.Senior dogs have a special kind of magic about them. They love deeply, ask for little, and somehow make a house feel more like home.Come meet Ragnar at DeKalb Humane Society. We think once you meet him, you’ll understand why everyone here has fallen for him. 🐾An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
Meet Miss Margo, she's sweet as can be. She'll celebrate her 1st birthday on May 13th. She's a beautiful redheaded Pitbull mix with a little white on her chest and ears that just don't stop. Margo currently weighs 48 lbs.She adapted easily to her foster home where there are 2 other dogs. She was house trained in a day. She's crate trained, only chews appropriate toys and bones, and is a very quick learner. She does great with kids and other dogs, NO CATS for this girl. She has short bursts of energy and usually matches the energy in dogs or people around her. She's gone to Tractor Supply Company with her foster and had very good manners. She is a great co-pilot in the car and likes to hang her head out to catch the air. Margo will require a 6 ft fence as she will jump anything lower. Margo will be entering 10 weeks of training on March 22nd to learn her manners. If approved to adopt Margo, you will receive her weekly training reports until she is ready to come home with you on July 31st! Submit your app! Margo is UTD on all their shots, HW, and FT. Margo has a microchip in case she get lost. Margo will require a 6 ft fenced in yard to keep her safe. RPSM recommends homes with children 6 years and older, and NO CATS.
