Story
Hello my name is Wink. At just 8 months old, I’m a big, handsome 70 pound pup with an even bigger heart, searching for a forever home to call my own. My journey hasn’t been easy—I was surrendered to a crowded, high-risk shelter in San Antonio, Texas, for reasons I’ll never understand. The noise, the stress, the uncertainty… it was overwhelming. My time there was running out, and I needed someone to see me—to believe I was worth saving.Every day, I did my best to shine. I kept my kennel clean, wagged my tail nonstop, and greeted everyone with gentle affection, hoping they’d choose me. But no one did. Maybe it was my size, or my age, or my right eye. I have a condition called microphthalmia, which means my right eye is smaller and doesn’t see well—but it doesn’t slow me down or cause me pain, and the vet says it doesn’t need to be removed. The shelter called me Skunk, but my foster dad saw something different—he named me Wink, and it fits me perfectly.Just hours before I was set to be euthanized due to overcrowding, Project Hope Animal Rescue stepped in and saved my life. From there, I began a 1,200+ mile journey north, carried by kind-hearted volunteers who gave me a second chance. Now, I’m ready to start my next chapter.I’m a sweet, affectionate boy with the perfect balance of playful puppy energy and gentle companionship. I adore people and have a special way of leaning into you for pets—it’s like a full-body hug. I may be big, but I’m all soft on the inside and thrive on love, attention, and being part of the family.I’m still young and eager to learn. I’m very treat-motivated and want to make my people happy, which makes training fun and rewarding. I’ve already learned how to shake and I’m getting the hang of “sit.” I walk well on a leash and am excited to keep learning with someone who will guide me with patience and positivity.I’d do best in an active home where I have room to run, play, and grow—a fenced yard would be required. More than anything, I just want to be included in everyday life, whether that’s going on adventures, playing outside, or relaxing close to my favorite people. The basics:• Fully vetted• Potty trained• Dog & cat friendly• Working on crate trainingAll I need now is someone willing to take a chance on me—and in return, I’ll give you a lifetime of loyalty, love, and companionship.Wink is fully vetted, vaccinated, neutered & microchippedHis adoption fee is $300.If you have any questions or concerns about Wink,  please email us at projecthoperescue@gmail.com. Story
My daughter brought this bundle of love home from a homeless woman on the bus. Do to health problems we needed to move, he needs a fenced in yard and we no longer have one. He is high energy and thinks he's a lap dog, loves naps and runs and too many knees have been replaced in our house to run with him. He is highly food motivated so someone with love and patience could turn him into a great companion. But our schedules won't permit the time he needs. A loving home with older kids would be great for him.

Story
Meet Jesse! Jesse is a happy, affectionate 4-year-old girl whose enthusiasm for life is contagious. Whether she's heading out for a walk, rolling in the grass, or soaking up attention from her favorite people, Jesse is always ready to make the most of her day. She has a goofy, playful side and loves being close to her humans, happily leaning in for pets and enjoying every bit of affection she can get. Jesse is an energetic girl who gets excited when it's time for a walk and can be strong on leash, so she'll do best with someone who can help her continue practicing her leash manners. Once she's had a chance to settle in, she loves relaxing while being brushed, soaking up one-on-one attention, and spending quality time with her favorite people. Volunteers describe her as incredibly sweet, eager for affection, and always ready to say hello. She's even known to sit nicely for treats! Like many enthusiastic dogs, Jesse can get a little bouncy when she's greets people, but her happy personality shines through in every interaction. She'll thrive with a family that can continue helping her practice polite greetings while giving her plenty of love and attention. Jesse is currently heartworm positive, so she'll need a family who can help keep her activity calm while she completes treatment. This means no running, hiking, or rough play for now, but she's more than happy to spend that time soaking up affection and enjoying leisurely walks. Jesse at a Glance Age: 4 years old Favorite Activities: Walks, rolling in the grass, relaxing while being brushed and loved on, spending time with her people, and earning treats. Training: Knows how to sit for treats, is treat-motivated, and would benefit from continued work on loose-leash walking and polite greetings. Personality: Affectionate, energetic, friendly, goofy, attention-loving, and always excited to make new friends. ##2741484##

Meet Junie! Junie is a 3-year-old sweetheart with a playful side and plenty of affection to share. She loves spending time with people and has earned lots of praise for being gentle, friendly, and cuddly. One of the quickest ways to win her over is with some good scratches or a belly rub—she absolutely loves attention! When it’s time to play, Junie is all in. She enjoys chasing toys and balls, playing fetch, splashing around in the pool, and exploring the play yard. She can be vocal when she gets excited during play, especially when she’s having a great time! After she has had her fun, she is happy to soak up some pets and affection. Junie enjoys getting out for walks and exploring. She can sometimes be strong on leash at the beginning of a walk, but tends to settle in and walk more easily as she goes. Whether she’s strolling the trails, rolling in the grass, or hanging out in the gazebo, she seems happiest when she has time to enjoy the outdoors. Junie has a high prey drive and needs a cat-free home. She is looking for a family who will enjoy her fun, affectionate personality and give her plenty of opportunities to play, explore, and soak up all the belly rubs she can get. Junie at a Glance: Age: 3 years old Favorite Activities: Playing fetch, chasing toys and balls, swimming, exploring the play yard, and getting belly rubs Training: Can be strong on leash at first, but tends to settle in and walk more easily as the walk goes on Personality: Sweet, affectionate, playful, gentle, and cuddly See more of Junie's personality, charm, and everyday moments here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZDF9aY__ths ##2764184##

Story
At Christmas time, holiday tinsel is one of the best ways to spruce up your home with some cheer and festivity; but wouldn't it be great to have some of that same tinsel cheer for the whole year? I'm pretty sure that's where I got the name, because that's exactly what I do! I think it's pretty safe to say we all love the gifting aspect of the holiday season, and I am no exception. As you can see from the video, I love toys! Personally, my favorite aspect of every day, is quality time spent together. I am full of that "in front of the fireplace" warmth that is the highlight of the season...or really any season. Snuggling in the laps of all my friends, giving kisses, joy, and laughs every day of the year would be a dream come true! While I can appreciate some kitty-time snuggles, I am much more apt to be in my person's lap cuddling, but I am happy to share a home with a feline friend. I would be happiest in a home with older children that can handle my occasional puppy-like playstyle (that...and I can be a little vocal and pushy about my need for attention sometimes). I would love to have a doggy playmate, but I do need proper introductions with dogs, as I am dog selective. Being dog selective means that I have made several canine friends, but much like humans, I don't care to be friends with every dog I meet. Any potential fur siblings will get the chance to meet me for a play date before I go home, to make sure we get along as well as ribbons and bows! If you would like a little bit of every-day Christmas magic in your home, submit an adoption application to the website below, and I promise to decorate your heart and home with all my love! DOB: 2/6/2020 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/
