Story
From the moment Emely saw other dogs in the play yard, she assumed the “let’s play” position inviting the others to “bring it on!” Obviously housebroken (although never guaranteed), she got about her business immediately once unleashed!!! A medium sized lady, Emely has a pretty cool disposition and would likely fair well in any home. Emely is a recent mom and gladly accepts affection and follows gentle petting with a sprinkle of the tiniest and sweetest kisses. She could surely be your Valentine! To top things off, Emely is heartworm negative, spayed and ready to come play with you today! Black dogs are often overlooked but don’t lose sight of this spectacular lady!Come adopt from the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM), a progressive animal welfare organization located in Gulfport, MS. Story
UPDATE!!&#226&#156&#168 Meet Mac! This handsome cutie was found by Good Samaritans who took him in and reached out for help. He’s an adorable 14 week old Boxer mix. He’s playful and sweet! Gets along great with everything. Mac is super smart and doing well with training for his age. He’s utd, neutered and ready for a home to call his own.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you!
