Story
Miss Maryam is sweet as pie! Good with dogs, unconcerned with neighborhood cats, snuggly, wiggly, wrinkly, house trained, crate trained, playful but able to chill, she is basically the full package. She knows sit and always comes running when called no matter what she is up to. She was great off leash on a hike. She is obsessed with my 60 lb pit mix and is enamored with everyone who has come over to meet her. She would love nothing more than to rest her head on you lap, on your knee, on your face (if allowed) and have her velvety soft ears rubbed. Maryam gets excited but isn't overwhelmingly energetic. She will jump up with gentle sort of slow paws but sits down when told.
Maryam hasn't really figured out toys, yet. She does enjoy a good bone or stick from time to time. She loves lounging in a sunbeam on something soft. She would do well in a home with dog friends to run, play, and cuddle with. If there are kind words or pets to be had, Maryam will be in the center of it, literally.
Her leash manners aren't the best but Maryam is super responsive and open to correction. She is a sensitive girl and does not like to stern voices or yelling. Because she is so attentive she really doesn't need it! Positive reinforcement and gentleness is her language. She is a little clingy, but has already started to demonstrate more independence in the 2 weeks we have been together. She makes these funny little grunts and sounds when she is comfy or wanting for more scritches.
The only catch? Miss Ma'am is a reactive barker. Not so much in the house, though I live on a pretty quiet street, not randomly or excessively, but on car rides, which she loves, this girl is barking at everything that moves. She will let you know that someone is about. As soon as she is introduced, she instantly melts into her kind pitty baby self. But she does come off as intimidating because of her amazing physique and expressiveness. She really is the epitome of all bark and no bite. I get the sense that she was well loved in a home with little socialization or maybe in the country. Because her disposition is pretty gentle and very interested, I think this could be trained out of her with more exposure and patience. She loves treats so is food motivated.
This girl deserves a loving home! She aims to please and truly is just a squishy sweetheart. Oh, and she crosses her back legs under her when she lays on her belly which is just absurdly cute.
