Story
If you're looking for a high energy pup, look no further! Janice is ready to run, run, run! She likes toys and treats. She's a friendly gal ready for lots of adventures! I am on the Priority Paws list. This means that I am struggling with severe kennel stress that is impacting my quality of life. I need to move into a foster home or adoptive home as soon as possible. Here's what volunteers had to say after spending time with Janice: If you're looking for a dog that will make you laugh, Janice is your gal. Just give her a squeaky toy and let the fun begin. She absolutely loves toys! She's happy to play by herself but is more than willing to include you in the fun. She would love to have a yard where she can play and explore. She also really likes treats, which will make teaching her new tricks much easier.

Story
Evanescence is a happy girl who loves belly rubs! She has a lot of playful energy and would do well in a home that can match her energy level. She's very loving and oh so pretty! I am on the Priority Paws list. This means that I am struggling with severe kennel stress that is impacting my quality of life. I need to move into a foster home or adoptive home as soon as possible. Volunteers say "Evanescence and I got a pup up and the walked the trails at Capen park. She is a very high energy and playful dog but can definitely lay down and relax when it's time. She is very excited to meet new people but once the excitement cools down she is very relaxed and was a good walker!" "When I first picked up Evanescence she was very happy to be getting a day out. She sat great in the car, face and tongue out the window enjoying the fresh air. We first went to enjoy some coffee and a pup cup and she was a big fan. She did great in the drive through and was a big fan of her special treat. We then went for a nice long walk around the lake. She has great leash skills and didn't pull at all. She didn't react to small dogs or kids on the trail and was more interested in just smelling the surroundings. After our walk we went to B and B bagels to enjoy an outdoor lunch. Evanescence got a little jumpy as the food was out so we decided to eat in the car and she sat great in the back. I think the best home for Evanescence could include another well match pet friend along with older kids." "We went to Starbucks and got her a pup cup, which she was very excited about! She was okay in the car - she didn't want to stay in the back seat but I think she was just a little overexcited because on the way back she was perfect! She seemed to have an instinct to chase after squirrels, but was redirectable. She LOVES people and was very happy about every person she saw. When people pet her she would fall right down on her back for belly rubs. She was a perfect walker and was excited by other dogs but again was redirectable." "I took her to Devil's icebox which she thoroughly enjoyed! We walked along many of the paths there and she got very happy anytime we would run into humans. She wanted to say hi to everyone she could but wouldn't pull very hard if I did not let her. She was really good at sitting or laying down during breaks on our walk and loved being pet and getting her belly rubbed. I think she would be perfect with any family!" "We hung out at Stephens Lake Park for most of our time together, and sat outside of Culvers briefly while I got food. I ended up eventually calling her Evie for short and she was just the sweetest girl ever! She was very polite when taking treats from me, very athletic and I could tell she wanted to run, so she would probably do well with an active family. Since she is so gentle, I could see her doing well in a household with kids. She also loves belly rubs and loves to just be snuggled when she's relaxing. She didn't bark a single time but was tugging on her leash from excitement a bit at the beginning, but calmed down. She was just so sweet and I hated having to let her go!" "For our DDO, we went to a bakery downtown called Uprise Bakery and sat outside (don't worry she got a pup cup!). Then we went to MKT trail and walked 3 ish miles. Then we went back to our room and chilled and she played with a stuffed toy. She was super loving and energetic! She loved the hike and being able to sniff around. She was a very good girl and didn't react badly to other dogs."

Story
Roland is a happy guy! He loves to explore his surroundings and keep that nose to the ground. He seems to be more into toys than treats, but the concept of bringing the toy back doesn't always click. He's ready for adventure! Volunteers say "Roland is a fun loving, bold, and cuddly guy. He warmed up immediately and hopped in my car without hesitation. We walked around my block, hung out at home, got a pup cup, and watched my daughter's lacrosse game at Cosmo park together. He really enjoyed playing tug and being a lap dog. He was uninterested in his pup cup but liked dog treats. I could see him being a great companion for any active person who wants a friend. He is an affectionate, silly, and opinionated dog who was a pleasure to be around." "I took Roland to go get a pup cup, he was GREAT in the car, very calm, didn't even want to stick his head out the window. Then we went to the campus of Mizzou and walked around. He was pretty strong on the leash, I would maybe recommend a harness instead of a collar. He was very friendly and wanted to greet everyone on the walk. When he would great people he wanted to jump and lick, very kind but he would get very excited very quickly and would need a few minutes to chill out." "Roland and I went to play fetch and hang out at a park, and then went back to my house to hang out with my roommates and play some more in the yard. Roland was very excited and had a lot of energy, he loved to run around and play fetch, he would definitely be well suited for someone with an active lifestyle and a good size yard. He is also very sweet and loved to be meet new people, so a social person would also be a good fit." "Roland and I got a pup cup, explored Stephens trail, and went shopping at Lowe's. He also got to run in a fenced in back yard. I don't think he had any issues besides wanting to play with dogs we passed. He was really such a good boy, he could do a sit command and would come when you called for him. We weren't around any kids but I can't think of any problems he would have with any families! He was also very well behaved when passing other dogs and people while we walked." "I took Roland for a short walk around my neighborhood, before we found a shady tree to sit under. He did well on the leash, only pulling a bit to sniff around. He was very curious, and wanted to explore. He was friendly to everyone who passed us, he jumped a bit at first but quickly calmed down. He loved playing with all of his toys! Next, we went back to my apartment for a bit. He was very sweet and cuddled with me as I read." "Today Roland and I took a short walk on the Grindstone Trail. He was very curious during our walk! He wanted to smell and look at everything. He was very strong on the leash at first, but quickly relaxed for the rest of the walk. He was very excited to meet others that passed us, and was very friendly with everyone! After our walk we got a pup cup, and he did great the entire car ride. He hopped right into my car and sat calmly, or laid down the entire ride."

Story
Radissche is a shy gal. The quickest way to her heart is with a squeaky toy! She just loves to play fetch. Her ideal home will be a more mature one until she can settle in and feel a bit more comfortable. She is quite energetic! I am on the Priority Paws list. This means that I am struggling with severe kennel stress that is impacting my quality of life. I need to move into a foster home or adoptive home as soon as possible. Volunteers say ""Radissche was a great walker today. It was hot out, and she took every opportunity to laze happily and roll around in puddles and other interesting substances. She can sit, lay down, was interested in treats, and took them gently." "This was my first DDO with Radissche though I've walked her 2 or 3 times previously. She has been really stressed out in the shelter, so we started with a peaceful walk/sniff then went and hung out at home. She loved playing fetch and tug with a squeaky toy and is playful and energetic for her age. She motioned toward the door and waited for me to take her out when she needed to pee. She was a little bit timid of my partner but warmed up to all members in the home with time (teenagers and adults). Radissche encountered small children, teens, bicyclists, roller skaters etc while out and she had no issues, though there was a cat that she wanted to chase. Radissche is such a sweet, fun, adventurous, and cozy girl. Please give her a chance, her whole personality blossoms when she's comfortable." "She's very sweet to people she knows, doesn't bother people who don't bother her. She's up for any kind of hike, likes being out and about, loves car rides, is affectionate and loyal to her friends."

Bandit is a very sweet boy. He is very laid back and loves to take long naps. He does well with other dogs and likes to play. He is gentle with the little ones and doesn't seem to care much about cats. His back story is kind of sad, he was a stray our shelter was trying to catch for weeks. He finally caught him and he was covered head to toe in ticks and fleas. He is doing much better now and is ready for his furever home!

Story
While Mae might look like a giant, she's actually pretty short in stature! She's a hefty girl. Mae is as sweet as can be and loves attention, but she's not fond of sharing her human with other pets. Her ideal home would be a single man or woman that does not have other dogs or small children. She has not been tested with cats, but due to her size, we think she'd be best fit as an only fur-child. While she has not shown any aggression towards children, she is a BIG girl, and would likely be too strong for a small child. If you're interested in a loveable giant, consider Mae today!

Story
Meet Mae! Mae loves car rides (especially when they end in pup cups) and is a dream walking on leash. We don't know exactly what her past looked like, but we know humans must not have been very kind to her. Mae is a gentle girl who may be shy at first, but we have found with time, love and lots of treats she is the most loving and loyal dog. Her foster says she is incredibly smart and a total sweetheart. Mae would do best in a home with another dog to keep building up their confidence and a fenced in yard that is at least 6ft.

Meet Diamond! Diamond is a fun loving girl who we believe to be a Pit and Husky Mix, she weighs around 50lbs and is just over a year old. Diamond likes to play keep away and will walk with her leash in her mouth too! She does well with other dogs and everyone she meets.
