Story
Meet Moo! He is a medium sized gorgeous black and white mixed breed. DOB is 6/23/2024. Moo is housetrained, great with kids, and other dogs. He isn't great around cats though. His favorite things do are playing with his dog friends and snuggling with his human friends. Moo is very dependent on other dogs and thrives being around them he gains courage while around other dogs, he is a very submissive boy who would fit in easily with other dogs. Moo is very timid and hasn't completely found himself, but with patience and lots of yummy treats he has so much potential! Here is what his cold weather foster has to say: He is such a sweetheart and deserves a home and family. He thrives around other dogs, which you already know. I wouldn’t recommend him being in a home with cats. Ours have been in hiding with him here. He just wants to feel safe and have a person or dog to snuggle with. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. No appointment needed for adopters. For more information, email havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647. Save time at the shelter and submit your adoption application at www.havenoftheozarks.org/adopt.

Story
Meet June! June is a senior dog looking for a loving home with a comfy couch. Her DOB is 1/16/2016. She is a brindle boxer mix. At her recent foster home, June was described as the "laziest dog ever" LOL. She loves to lay on the couch while holding a toy in her mouth but also does like outside play time. She is good at entertaining herself. She likes other dogs but would prefer to be the queen as an only dog if possible. When she is eating with other dogs, she wants to check out all the food bowls and not everyone appreciates that. She is good with kids, and cats. This sweet old lady is house trained too. She is a fence jumper BUT she never goes far and does come back. Shes a good walker, enjoys the water, and to no surprise she loves treats. All our animals are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks welcomes visitors from 9 am to 4 pm every day, with no need for an appointment. For additional details, contact us at havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com. To expedite the adoption process at the shelter, you can fill out an application at www.havenoftheozarks.org/adopt.

Story
Qira is a senior boxer mix, almost 10 years old, and she has spent most of her life — about seven years — growing up in a shelter. Because of that, she isn’t a dog who gives her heart to everyone right away… but when she chooses you, she chooses you completely.Qira bonds slowly and thoughtfully. She is selective with new people and needs time to feel safe, especially with strangers. Once trust is built, though, she is deeply affectionate and devoted. When she loves you, she wants to be close — lying quietly beside you, checking in often, and occasionally nudging under your arm to politely demand attention.Despite her age, Qira still has joyful puppy moments. She loves the snow, runs and plays outside, and will happily chase shadows (possibly thanks to being blind in one eye). On playful days, she’ll even chase your shadow if you move around with her. When you sit on the floor, she’ll confidently plop herself into your lap — even though she is very much not a lap-sized dog.Qira shows affection in tender, meaningful ways: resting her forehead against yours, offering the occasional gentle “kiss,” and choosing to stay close rather than roam. She knows her people — if she sees her favorite person arrive, she lights up, pulls toward them on leash, and will even refuse to walk past their office door if she knows they’re nearby.Because of her history, Qira will need:A patient, adult-only homeA slow, respectful introduction process with potential adoptersMultiple visits to build trust before adoptionTo be the only pet in the home (she is not suited for cats, and dog compatibility is unknown)Qira is not a dog for everyone — and that’s okay. She is a dog for someone special. Someone calm. Someone kind. Someone willing to earn her trust and be rewarded with fierce loyalty and quiet companionship. If you believe love is something you build, not something you rush, Qira may be waiting for you.
