Story
Meet Pepper! Pepper's birthday is December 18th, 2025. She came to us with her siblings and mom when she was 10 days old. Pepper came to us from a hoarding situation, where she and her family didn't have the best start. Her mother was starving and she and her siblings were very weak. But, she had one strong mama, and now we are delighted to report that the whole crew is chubby, happy, and healthy. We've watched Pepper grow into a wonderful young lady. She is incredibly sweet and smart. She does very well with the other dogs, cats, and kids in her foster home. However, Pepper does have some leash and barrier reactivity that has really seemed to hurt her chances of being adopted. All of Pepper's siblings have been adopted into their forever homes for months, but she is still patiently waiting her turn. Due to a history of reactivity that she has worked really hard to get a handle on, we think it's best if Pepper does go to a home with at least 1 other dog. Based on our observations of her behavior in different settings, we think that if she were to be the only dog in her forever home, the manners she has worked so hard to learn would start to fall away and some of that reactivity could return or worsen. Pepper can be shy when meeting new people and dogs, but once she has a moment to warm up, this girl is a wiggly little dream. She has a beautiful smile and she seems to wake up every morning just thrilled to be alive. Pepper loves to bounce, and wrestle, and wiggle all day long. She would make a fantastic companion for a family who can be a little bit patient with her as she settles in. Pepper is potty trained and crate trained, though of course we advise everyone that accidents are usually part of the adjustment process for any dog. Pepper does a great job on leash and we hope her future family is able to continue practicing her skills. She absolutely loves to play tug-of-war, and spends a good chunk of her afternoons playing with her mom (who is also still available for adoption) and her other friends in the yard. We'd also like it noted that this girl very well might be the fastest dog west of the Mississippi - she zooms like there's no tomorrow. If we could bottle her happy energy, well, it would probably end up being illegal. Pepper is spayed, up to date on all of her vaccines and heartworm prevention, and is microchipped. If you have any questions about Pepper, our adoption process, or anything else, please feel free to email Bosque Buddies Animal Rescue at adoption@bbanimalrescue.org or call/text us anytime at 505-333-8980. **All adoptions are at events or by appointment only. ***Please complete an adoption application at: bbanimalrescue.org/adopt

Story
Gryph is a 3-4 years old Boxer mix. At first he may seem shy but don't let that fool you! He is a big goofy guy who would love to have a family of his own. Gryph loves being part of the action. He loves to play and do zoomies. He is very smart and catches on quickly. He loves performing tricks and putting his own spin on each one, making them his own. So fully of personality! Gryph would do best in a home with older children and no cats. We have adoption clinic on the 1st Saturday of each month from 11a-2pm at 6300 San Mateo (along the grass next to Academy Rd) in the southern end of the Spouts Market parking lot volunteer staffing/weather permitting. Story
Woola is. sweet middle-aged dog that is ready to move right into your heart and home. Woola is a gentle and well-mannered boy who walks nicely on a leash and is house-trained. He appreciates a soft dog bed and pets from his humans. His chestnut brown eyes convey kindness. He enjoys outings to pet stores and seems to like car rides—he’s quite the adventurer! His short snout gives Woola a charming boxer-like appearance; did you know boxers can also be white? He may be mixed cattle dog or other breeds common to New Mexico, but regardless he is 100% good dog. We hope you’ll consider welcoming Woola into your home! If you’re interested in meeting Woola, come to our adoption event on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 11am-2pm, located at 6300 San Mateo NE in the south Sprouts parking lot. Story
Meet Toph (pronounced Toff)!Personality: Gentle soul sweetheartLikes: Cozy beds, gentle affection, and feeling safe with her people.Fun Fact: Like her namesake earthbender, Toph has a quiet strength—and the biggest heart!Toph is a beautiful Boxer–Pit Bull mix who has already done one of the hardest jobs there is—she came to the shelter pregnant, raised her puppies, and now it’s finally her turn to be loved. The shelter can feel overwhelming for her at times, but once she gets to know you, her true self shines through. She has the softest, most gentle demeanor and leans into you for comfort, offering sweet little kisses in return. Toph is truly the definition of a tender-hearted dog who just wants a calm, cozy home and a warm bed to curl up in this winter. After everything she’s given, Toph is ready to settle down and be someone’s very special girl.

Story
Canela is the sweetest. She is a loving, healthy 7-year-old, Pit-Lab mix who thrives in family environments. Her name means cinnamon, as her color matches a stick perfectly. She has a white chest, socks and signature Harry Potter mark on her forehead. She’s great with our kids, extended family, neighbors and guests. Truly a loving dog. She has a great life and we would love to find her a home or caring individual to give her the love and companionship she deserves. The only issues we have encountered are 1) when a dog approaches her from behind, barking, it triggers defensive behavior. So we always try to socialize her only with dogs that aren’t aggressive at her. 2) she can be leash reactive when a large dog approaches her unexpectedly (50/50). This has been manageable for us. She’s a great hiking bud, and will make much better of a cuddle or adventure companion dog than one that lives in your backyard (we spoil her).
