Story
Miss Gracie is a happy lady looking for a home to call her own. Despite being a middle aged girl she still has some energy left and would greatly appreciate an outlet for her zoomies before she's ready to snuggle up with you. She is a big fan of toys and loves a good game of tug. She is an instant lover and warms up to people quickly, and is quite the cuddle-bug once you're her friend. Gracie loves her people so much that she would prefer to be the only pet in the home. If you are interested in meeting Gracie, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Looking for somebody to keep you active? Meet Richard! Richard is a very typical young boxer, he is go go go and will need an active family to keep him busy. Unfortunately Richard has not been doing well here in the shelter environment and is is struggling to maintain a healthy weight, but he should bounce right back once he's settled in at home! He is a rough player and would do best with older children. He loves other dogs but because of his rough Boxer playstyle he will need a doggy playmate who is equally tolerant of his puppy antics. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in for a meet and greet before taking Richard home. If you are interested in meeting with Richard, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
A gorgeous blue velvet Staffordshire/ Boxer mix with a soft coat, Finnick has lots of love to share. He has lots of energy, loves rolling in the grass and playing fetch. Finnick enjoys hanging out with people outside during playtime. He would enjoy being the only in pet in the home with a fenced yard and would love to be your companion . With an estimated birth date of March 2, 2021 and weighing 58 pounds, Finnick has been vet checked, neutered, is up to date on vaccines, on flea & heartworm prevention. Currently he is on sensitive stomach food. We hope that once he is out of the stresses of the shelter, he might be able to return to regular dog food. We ask a donation of $145 cash to help with vet expenses and a dog license. Pets are seen by appointment. We ask people to complete an interest form which is online at https://pawshumane.weebly.com/interest-form.html . Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but occasionally mistakes one for a toy when she is over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. She is not too fond of puppies getting in her face either. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She could perhaps use more obedience training with someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved family member, and she needs a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Columbus, Cincinnati, or Akron Ohio. She is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Story
This poor girl has been over looked and she fees she's the forgotten dog in the corner. Lady is so well mannered and well behaved. She may be a big girl but her compassion and loyalty make up for it. Lady is truly a LADY. She can also be shy and timid at times, especially with loud movements and noises but she bounces right back. Lady loves being with her humans and her listening skills are impeccable. She doesn't mind cats, they can be intriguing to her and she is great with children. (Not a jumper/won't know kids down)If you would be interested in giving me a furever home, please contact The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. at (937) 544-8585 to set up a time to come meet me and fill out an adoption application!

Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
These 4 friends have been loved and cared for their entire life, maybe a bit too much because they all need a diet. Vegas, Tex, Gunner and Chance have all lived together prior to coming to us. We know that placing 4 dogs together is going to be IMPOSSIBLE so we will be separating them, unless someone is interested in keeping them together in pairs. Everyone is sterilized and housebroken and seemingly in the 5-7 year old range. We are not sure how they would be with cats but they were friendly with each other and the other dogs they've met since coming here. If you are looking to add a chonky pitty mix to your life, please stop by during business hours or give us a call at 740-775-6808 if you have additional questions.RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix.
