Story
Roxie is a 7 year-old Boxer/Doberman mix who weighs 67 lbs. She was surrendered to CHA when her owner could no longer care for her. Her previous owner reported that she lived with cats, children, and other dogs. Since being at CHA, she has done well meeting other dogs, but prefers to coexist rather than play. Though she is an older girl who enjoys those leisurely moments, she still has a lot of pep in her step! She loves to play with her stuffed toys, play bowing and throwing them around the room. Roxie also likes exploring and is a great walking buddy with wonderful leash manners. If you`re looking for a playful, affectionate, intelligent dog, come meet Roxie today!

Story
Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited or wants something (we now know that comes from the Boxer in her). Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs around 75 pounds. Gypsy has been with us for 3 years, and we don't know why she has not been adopted yet. She is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog we have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with older children. Gypsy is smart and might benefit from more obedience training from someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is a sweet dog. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy must be in the house as a loved family member. She must be walked on a leash and have a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. To emphasize...although Gypsy generally gets along with all dogs (she currently lives in a home with 14 other dogs both large and small and there are no problems), She either needs to be the only dog in the house or only paired with one other large male dog. Gypsy has been with the rescue for 3 years and a change will be scary. She needs an experienced adopter who is patient understanding, and willing to give her the time she needs to get comfortable in a new home. She is a great dog for a single person or couple. Any children should be over 10 years of age. Gypsy spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. She is now heartworm-free and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy is located in Texas but can be transported after she is adopted. Her adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to several scheduled stops in Ohio - including but not limited to - Columbus, Cincinnati, and Akron OH Please email 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this very good girl. Story
Xavier is the sweetest and cuddliest boy and always wants to be around his human. hes done well around kids age 8 and older, but i think hed also do fine around smaller children as long as hes reminded to be calm. hes been tested with both female and male dogs, big and small and hes done very well. he lives with 2 other dogs, one large senior male and a small female, in my home currently and he gets along with both great and plays well with the female dog. i work at a dog daycare and have trialed taking him and he hasnt shown aggression towards any dogs and did great with a small play group, but were still working towards more socialization with a bigger group. He is not a fan of cats. He would do best in a low traffic home since hes shown some fear towards strangers and men especially, but seems to react better to them when his foster mom is not around. hes easily bought with food though and warms up pretty quickly to women! hes mostly potty trained as long as he gets regular potty breaks and hes done well with crate training so far. he gets in his crate no problem but has some anxiety once i leave but he soon calms down. he needs someone to be patient with him and continue his training, but he already knows sit, paw, take it nice/gentle (when giving treats), we are almost there with down, and he has a good recall.Apply to meet Xavier at ricopetrecovery, org. Adoption fee is $250

Story
Connie is quite the underdog. Living chained to a trailer and sleeping in deep mud, Connie produced litter after litter of puppies while never receiving any vet care whatsoever. The family finally agreed to surrender her and her only surviving pup (who was living in a small crate outdoors, and has now been adopted).Connie came to us emaciated and positive for several internal parasites, including heartworm and tick diseases. After several months of vet care, Connie is now heartworm free!!!Everyone at the vet loves Connie and her happy personality. Connie is good with other dogs but often intimidates dogs with her strong personality until they get to know her.Connie is approximately 45 pounds. She does have 'weak knees' which cause her to walk with stiff back legs on occasion. This is managed with oral medication as needed for pain. In general, Connie gets around really well and loves going on leash walks.Connie was on restricted exercise while going through her heartworm treatment and can't wait to run and play again!Apply for Connie at ricopetrecovery.org Her adoption fee is $250.

Story
Benny was found severely emaciated in a house with another dog in December of last year. He was rescued with his companion (June Bug) by Good Samaritans and placed in Rico care. The two dogs were immediately taken to a veterinary clinic where they began their long road to recovery. Despite the horror he endured, Benny was very sweet and sought attention and love from everyone at the clinic. After two weeks in the hospital, Benny and June Bug were strong enough to be discharged and moved to a foster home to continue their recovery. Benny has blossomed into a gorgeous, healthy and athletic dog. Benny is very smart. He quickly learned the routines in his foster home and feeding times. He has learned to sit, shake and to ring the bells to go outside. Benny is house trained and crate trained. Benny loves to play fetch in the backyard and has learned to bring the ball back and to drop it. Benny walks very well on leash and has shown no aggression towards other dogs that he passes on his walks. Benny does not show any resource guarding with humans, but because of his past, he will always need to be fed separately from other dogs. Benny is doing very well in the home with his long time female companion (June Bug) but he was not tolerant of another male dog in the house. Benny would be happy as an only dog or with June Bug. Introductions to other dogs would have to be slow. Benny is not cat tested. We recommend a family for Benny with children older than 10 because he can get very excited around people and may jump. Benny loves to snuggle on the couch in the evening and to chew on his favorite bones. Benny would love a fenced yard to continue to work on his fetching skills. He loves to run around and sniff all the good smells. The veterinarian thinks that Benny is about 3 years old and is a boxer mix, probably with a hound. Benny has been neutered and is up to date on his shots. Benny is looking for a forever family that will continue to rebuild his confidence and with whom he can share his love.

Story
Penny came to us from Franklin County rescue at 3 years of age. She’s an energetic and happy but also loves to relax when she’s at home and comfortable. She absolutely loves being outside and taking road trips. She does get agitated when meeting new dogs, especially those that are reactive but warms up relatively quickly. She lived with another dog for a year and they got along great. That said I would not recommend her for homes with cats or other small critters.

Story
Tippy Trace is a 4.5 (almost 5) year old pit bull who was rescued from our organization over four years ago after an incident led her to lose her front left leg. Since then, she has been in a loving home with two children (ages 10 and 1.5) and another older female dog. She has had aggression issues towards the older female dog worsening over the last two years, leading to them needing to re-home her now. She does very well with children and is a lover of people. She loves to cuddle and play. She can run super fast and doesn’t even realize that she is a tripod! She loves to pop bubbles and play fetch! Tippy is in need of a dog-less home or possibly one with an older male dog. She would be a great companion for a single person or a family!
