Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but occasionally mistakes one for a toy when she is over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. She is not too fond of puppies getting in her face either. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She could perhaps use more obedience training with someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved family member, and she needs a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Columbus, Cincinnati, or Akron Ohio. She is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Story
Meet Steel! She is a loving 18 month female 55 lb boxer mix who is smart, kind, and loves to play with toys! She is a little timid at first, but once she gets to know you she'll be sleeping on the couch next to you in no time! She is very smart and knows how to sit, stay, down, off, and leave it. She is house broken and loves to hang outside! She is working on her walking without pulling and we have 3 extra training sessions available to the adopter at no additional charge! While she loves people, Steel is not a fan of other dogs. On walks, she knows to "leave it" and continue on her way, but she must be in a home where there are no other pets as she does not get along with them. She has been around young kids and babies socially and has had no issue. Typically, she doesn't act interested and leaves them alone. Her ideal home would have a fenced yard since that is what she is used to.

Story
Connie is quite the underdog. Living chained to a trailer and sleeping in deep mud, Connie produced litter after litter of puppies while never receiving any vet care whatsoever. The family finally agreed to surrender her and her only surviving pup (who was living in a small crate outdoors, and has now been adopted).Connie came to us emaciated and positive for several internal parasites, including heartworm and tick diseases. After several months of vet care, Connie is now heartworm free!!!Everyone at the vet loves Connie and her happy personality. Connie is good with other dogs but often intimidates dogs with her strong personality until they get to know her.Connie is approximately 45 pounds. She does have 'weak knees' which cause her to walk with stiff back legs on occasion. This is managed with oral medication as needed for pain. In general, Connie gets around really well and loves going on leash walks.Connie has been on restricted exercise while going through her heartworm treatment and can't wait to run and play again!Apply for Connie at ricopetrecovery.org Her adoption fee is $250.

Story
Bixby is a sweet dog that I adopted from a shelter several years ago. He is approximately 5 years old and around 65 lbs. I am not able to care for Bixby and exercise him the way he needs on walks. His main behavior issue is pulling on walks and lunging- although he is generally friendly with other dogs. I don't have the right home for a large dog and physically can not handle him. I’m looking to rehome asap.

Story
Trixx came from a rural shelter with little chance of finding a home. She is a young girl with lots of love to give. She likes to go on walks, loves her chew toys, is housebroken and crate trained. She is 1 year old and full grown at 35 pounds. She is in foster with cats and when they swat her she knows to leave them alone. She likes to play with the big dogs but plays a bit too rough for smaller dogs or timid cats. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process.  Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.    May 5, 2024, 11:01 pm

Story
Calling for all BOXER LOVERS!! Fallon is a super sweet senior special needs lady looking for her perfect fit home! Could you be that caretaker that she needs? This most beautiful, loving, kind, sweet natured, adoring, grateful, gal has had a tough life and is looking for a soft landing. She is over 8 years old, and was very, very skinny and unable to stand on her rear legs when she was dumped at our shelter. She had horrible teeth, ear infections, diarrhea, and eye ulcers all holding her back. With some time and TLC and medical care, Fallon has bloomed like a spring flower. Her eyes and ears have healed but will require lifelong artificial tears applied to eyes to keep them healthy. She was spayed and had her teeth cleaned and some rotten ones pulled. She has put on wt. and started walking and even running short distances but is still very wobbly and unsteady on her rear legs due to spinal arthritis. She will drag her toes so a yard is a must for exercise to build up her hind end muscles. She has rubber booties if she must walk on asphalt. She can manage 2-3 stairs with help but flat, good footing surfaces are best. She is great with cats, kids, and other mild mannered dogs that aren't too rough. She is crate trained and housebroken but can have accidents in house if left too long alone. Fallon is currently in foster with our vet and she would be more than happy to talk more about this wonderful couch cuddler!

These pups are in Columbus, Ohio too!

Nova has an infectious enthusiasm for life! She is always eager to make new friends – both human and canine. She thrives on playtime with other dogs and enjoys spending time outside. She is curious and a good listener - it’s easy to let her know playtime is over and it’s time to relax. Whether she's snuggled up on the couch or curled up in bed, Nova is happiest when she's surrounded by love and affection. She has the ability to curl up into the tiniest of spaces, so no one is safe from Nova's cuddles – and who could resist such a sweet and affectionate pup? Story
Hi there! My name is Hiccup. My foster mommies rescued me from a shelter back in October 2023. I am about 1.5 years old, incredibly smart, stubborn, sweet, and looking for a home! I love to play fetch, explore the world around me, and cuddle! Give me a blanket and I will lay with you for the whole day. My person will need to have a fenced-in yard or an active lifestyle to satisfy my daily zoomies. I have caught on to so much in my foster home! I can sit, lay down, come when you call me, wait for my food, and I am crate trained to sleep there overnight. Please come meet me! You won’t regret it, and who knows, we might be best friends forever!
