Story
Miss Gracie is a happy lady looking for a home to call her own. Despite being a middle aged girl she still has some energy left and would greatly appreciate an outlet for her zoomies before she's ready to snuggle up with you. She is a big fan of toys and loves a good game of tug. She is an instant lover and warms up to people quickly, and is quite the cuddle-bug once you're her friend. Gracie loves her people so much that she would prefer to be the only pet in the home. If you are interested in meeting Gracie, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Looking for somebody to keep you active? Meet Richard! Richard is a very typical young boxer, he is go go go and will need an active family to keep him busy. Unfortunately Richard has not been doing well here in the shelter environment and is is struggling to maintain a healthy weight, but he should bounce right back once he's settled in at home! He is a rough player and would do best with older children. He loves other dogs but because of his rough Boxer playstyle he will need a doggy playmate who is equally tolerant of his puppy antics. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in for a meet and greet before taking Richard home. If you are interested in meeting with Richard, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but occasionally mistakes one for a toy when she is over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. She is not too fond of puppies getting in her face either. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She could perhaps use more obedience training with someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved family member, and she needs a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Columbus, Cincinnati, or Akron Ohio. She is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Story
Trixx came from a rural shelter with little chance of finding a home. She is a young girl with lots of love to give. She likes to go on walks, loves her chew toys, is housebroken and crate trained. She is 1 year old and full grown at 35 pounds. She is in foster with cats and when they swat her she knows to leave them alone. She likes to play with the big dogs but plays a bit too rough for smaller dogs or timid cats. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process.  Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.    April 24, 2024, 9:24 pm

Story
Hey everyone! My name is Tyson and I am ready to find my home! I am 7 years old so don't have those sometimes annoying puppy habits. . I look a bit like a boxer and jack russell. I have been called an xl jack russell, weighing at 51 pounds. I am a proud graduate of the Northwest correctional obedience program. My handlers said I am a very calm, laidback, affectionate dog that loves to be loved. I like to play with my rubber frisbee, with other dogs, and with people. I am very well-mannered and know sit, stay, down (lay down), off, shake, over (roll over), come, here, up, eat, look, chill, eh eh (no), and leave it.I'm ok with older kids (over 12) but really wee ones are a little bit too unpredictable for my taste. I would make a great addition to any family and their home!***As long as our dogs are on the website they are available. Applications can be found at CanineCollective.org***Note: Without a DNA test or direct information about the parents, the breed listed is based on our best guess or from the use of a breed identification app
