Everyone meet Jasper! Jasper came to us after his owner could no longer take care of him, to no fault of his own. He was very scared and confused about his new environment. But now he is starting to warm up and is a good boy. He is happiest when he is outside! He loves to go on walks or simply hang out in the back yard! Since it has taken him a bit to warm up to us, slow introductions and multiple meet and greets would be best. He is a good dog but may need a calmer environment with a more experienced family. He would do best in a home with older (15+) or no children. He does struggle with going back into his kennel here at the shelter, so we think he would do best with a home where he has free range of the house or at least a room that he can hang out in while you're away. **Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 50 lbs**

Meet Miss Maggie, a gentle two-year-old girl with a heart that's slowly learning to trust. When she first arrived, Maggie was terrified. She wouldn't make eye contact, trembled when she tried to pet her, and hid under the office desk, unsure of the world around her. Her past has left some scars- she wasn't treated kindly by the humans who were supposed to love her. But even after being let down, Maggie still has so much love to give. Thankfully, Maggie didn't spend long at our facility before a wonderful foster stepped up and welcomed her into their home. And it didn't take long for the real Maggie to shine through! Within an hour, we received videos of her playing, being silly, and feeling relaxed with the other dog in the home. This is who Maggie really is- sweet, playful and full of joy when she feels safe. Maggie is looking for a forever home where she can continue to blossom, with people who will shower her with the love and kindness she deserves. If you have room in your heart for a timid but beautiful soul ready to embrace her second chance, Maggie could be the perfect addition to your family. Let's help her write the next chapter in her story- one filled with happiness and love!

Ash’s story is one that tugs at every heartstring. This sweet Boxer mix was brought to FDHS as an injured stray, likely the victim of a car accident. When we first met him, his eyes were full of pain, but there was still a glimmer of hope. Shortly after being posted as a stray, Ash’s owner came forward, devastated. Life had taken a harsh turn, and after many tears, they made the heart-wrenching decision to surrender Ash so he could get the care he desperately needed.Ash was rushed to the vet, where we discovered he had a severely dislocated hip that required surgery. Without hesitation, we got him the help he needed, knowing that this sweet boy deserved every chance at recovery. Now, Ash is in the midst of healing and is beginning to take adoption applications to find his forever home. Despite everything he’s been through, Ash’s spirit hasn’t dimmed. He’s a younger dog who bonds deeply with his people, and all he wants is to be loved. Ash is gentle, sweet, and friendly with everyone he meets—dogs, cats, kids, you name it. He just needs a home where he can feel safe, loved, and start fresh.Ash has had a rough journey, but we know there’s a happy ending waiting for him. Bruskie is a handsome mix breed boy that gets the full body wiggle in his excitement when you talk or just take him out for a walk and yes, if given the chance he will gladly climb into your lap to give you kisses. Please call the shelter at 937-498-7201 with any questions you may have or to schedule a meet an greet. Lobby hours are Monday-Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-12. Open kennel hours are Monday-Friday 12-4 with Saturday by appointment.
