Kane is a handsome older Boxer mix who is ready to trade in the hustle of his past for the comfort of a loving forever home. Life didn’t always treat him kindly, but you’d never know it from his gentle spirit and hopeful heart. Kane has held onto his sweetness through it all, and now he’s just looking for a soft place to land where he can truly relax and be loved the way he deserves. This sweet senior boy is all about the simple things—cozy beds, kind words, and being close to his people. He’s past the puppy chaos and would much rather spend his days soaking up affection, enjoying leisurely strolls, and just being your loyal companion. Kane has so much love left to give and is ready to spend his golden years making up for lost time.The shelter can be reached at 937-498-7201 to schedule a time to meet. Or please feel free to come in during business hours. The shelter is open Monday-Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9am-1pm. Open kennel hours are Monday-Friday 12-4 and Saturday by appointment. Meet Velvet! This beautiful black Boxer mix recently came to FDHS as a stray and, unfortunately, was never reclaimed by her previous family.Velvet is still pretty new around here and settling in, but we think we’ve already got a pretty good idea of what kind of girl she is! She has the SWEETEST personality and has already claimed the title of Queen of the WiggleButts. She’s happy, well-mannered, and always ready to have a good time!Velvet does phenomenal about keeping a clean kennel and has been wonderfully non-destructive with her blankets and stuffed animals. She could use a little brushing up on her leash manners, but otherwise, she’s been a very polite lady. She’s shown interest in making friends with the other shelter dogs, although we haven’t tested her with cats yet.And the humans? Velvet has been an absolute angel baby with every single person she’s met. She’s still getting settled in, but so far, Velvet is proving to be one pretty fabulous girl who we think could fit right into all kinds of homes. Now she just needs to find the people who will appreciate all those wiggles as much as we do!**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 35 lbs**

Hi future best friend, I’m Jupiter! I’ve been told I’m a Boxer mix, but honestly, I think I’m mostly just… dog. Big, wiggly, slightly slobbery, and always ready to have a good time.My time at FDHS has been quite the adventure. I’ve managed to injure myself in increasingly creative ways, including slicing open my paw and discovering the joys of Happy Tail Syndrome. That little escapade eventually earned me a partial tail amputation and several weeks of wearing the world’s most offensive cone. I may look a little different these days, but I’m healed up, feeling great, and my tail is still fully operational in the wiggle department.And while I’ve had my share of shelter shenanigans, I’ve also discovered that I’m actually a pretty fantastic dog. I’ve become one of our best canine play pals and have gotten to spend time in play groups with some of the more shy pups here. Apparently, I’m quite the social butterfly because I’ve also attended a few events and absolutely LOVE meeting new people. Big people, little people, new people, familiar people… I’m not picky. If you’re willing to give me attention, we’re probably going to be friends.I recently got to spend some time in a home, too, and my foster mom had nothing but wonderful things to say about me! I was house-trained, well-mannered, and apparently just the happiest boy around. I’m pretty sure I already knew how to be a good house dog, but it was nice to have the humans confirm it. Cats and other small critters, however, are NOT my thing. I have a pretty high prey drive, so my forever home will need to be a cat-free, small-animal-free zone.I’ve been at FDHS for way too long, and I’m ready for someone to finally realize that their family has been missing a Jupiter-sized personality this whole time. **Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs 70 lbs**

Meet Ivy!! Ivy is a pit mix. Her est birthday is 1/21/2026. She is UTD on her shots dewormed, deflead and fixed. Ivy is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. She can be a little shy at first but she warms up to you pretty quick. Once that happens, she will be your best friend. She loves to be right by your side no matter what youre doing. She loves to give kisses. She is a chewer. She will need to be watched. She is still a puppy after all. She is learning to walk on a leash. She does use a puppy pad. She just needs time and patience with her leash training but she will get there. She is great with other dogs and does good with cats. She would do best in a home with other dogs. Her adoption fee is $375.

Meet Matt!!! He is a pitty mix. Est birth date is 4/21/24. He weighs a little over 50lbs right now. He is UTD on shots Flea free and dewormed. He is scheduled to be fixed later this month. Buddy came to us as a stray here in Lima. Buddy is working on potty training. He is not quite there but he is learning. He walks great on the leash. He loves his toys and playing fetch. He is learning simple commands. He already knows wait and come. He loves going on walks. Buddy loves people, he does not know a stranger. Buddy would do best in a home where he is the only pet in the house. He has not been around kids or cats. He has been around ducks and doesnt seem to mind them. His adoption fee is $375 and that covers his neutering at our vet at Auglaize Animal Hospital in Wapakoneta Ohio.

Meet Gussie!! She is 1 of 22 rescued. Birth date 8/10/26. We think she is pit/lab mix.This big girl is so sweet and full of puppy love!! She loves playing with her siblings and toys. Loves giving puppy kisses. She has her 1st set of shots and is still very small so we recommend puppy pad training indoors until they have had 2nd set of shots for safety of the puppy. They are due for 2nd set on 10/19/26. Gussie has been treated for fleas and worms. Adoption fee is $375 includes all 1st year puppy shots plus booster and rabies and spay or neuter at Auglaize Animal Hospital in Wapak. Gussie is ready for her forever home.
