Story
Lua / Female / 2 years old / 49 lbs / Boxer Mix / Good with calm dogs (male dogs preferred) / Good with cats / Good with older, dog-savvy children / From Mexico / Fostered in Warkworth Lua’s story began in Mexico, where her mother was found tied to a fence on a vacant lot without shelter. She gave birth to four puppies before our rescue partners stepped in, cut her chain, and brought the family to safety. One of those puppies was Lua — and today she’s grown into a vibrant, affectionate dog with a big personality and a heart full of love. Over the past several months, Lua has been working closely with a professional boarding and training environment where she has made wonderful strides in confidence, manners, and trust. The shy, uncertain puppy she once was has blossomed into a playful, loving companion who adores her people and thrives on connection. Lua is bouncy, bubbly, and full of personality — her foster lovingly says she has an “invisible trampoline.” She loves praise and affection and will happily soak up attention from the people she trusts. She’s incredibly loyal and happiest when she’s spending time with her humans. Once Lua warms up to you, she is extremely affectionate and playful, often wiggling with excitement and happily seeking out attention and praise. She has made great progress meeting new people, including men, and while she may still take a little time to build trust with strangers, she continues to show how capable she is of forming positive new relationships. Lua is also a smart and curious girl who enjoys enrichment activities like nose work and training games, and the way to her heart is definitely through dehydrated beef heart treats. In the yard she loves exploring and has even been known to entertain herself chasing frogs around. Lua has shown she can bond beautifully with calm, balanced dogs, particularly male dogs who respect her space. She could thrive in a home with another well-balanced dog or as the only dog, as long as she continues to enjoy structured social opportunities such as pack walks or playdates. Lua would do best in a quiet suburban or rural home rather than an apartment or condo. She has natural guardian instincts and will alert bark when she notices something new, which makes busier environments with shared hallways or elevators more challenging for her. She has made great progress with impulse control and manners, including improved greeting behaviour and calmer mealtimes (she no longer needs a slow feeder!). She sleeps comfortably in her crate overnight and settles well into a routine. Lua could live with older, dog-savvy children (teenagers) who understand how to respect a dog’s space and signals. Like many sensitive dogs, she thrives in a calm home with patient adopters who will continue supporting her confidence and training. What makes Lua truly special is how far she has come. With the right guidance, patience, and love, she has blossomed into a loyal, joyful companion who deeply bonds with her people. Lua is ready to continue her journey in a committed home that will celebrate her progress and keep helping her grow. Due to Lua's unique circumstances, her adoption fee is sponsored by Fetch + Releash. Prospective adopters must commit to attending training sessions with her post-adoption with a certified R+ dog trainer to ensure a successful transition. Story
Woody, is approximately 5 months old and still has his baby teeth.   He is an absolute cutey pie who has had a rough start in life, living with a man who was abusive, yet he still loves people and loves to be cuddled. Woody, is a Boxer mix puppy who is fun, energetic,  playful but is also a cuddle bug. Woody, LOVES other dogs to play with, and is respectful of cats.  He loves to play with another younger dog who also loves to play.  Woody currently weighs 35 pounds but still has some growing to do.  He will probably grow to about 55 to 65 pounds.   Because he plays hard, a home with a small dog would probably not be a good idea.  A bigger dog as a brother or sister would be fun! Woody, is working on his housetraining but he is not there yet. Woody, will be neutered, up to date on vaccinations and dewormed. Children over 8 years old would have so much fun with Woody! Do you have room in your heart & home for sweet Woody?  Please share!  March 9, 2026, 8:36 am
