Story
Lua / Female / 3 years old / 49 lbs / Boxer Mix / Good with calm dogs (male dogs preferred) / Good with cats / Good with older, dog-savvy children / From Mexico / Fostered in Warkworth Lua’s story started in Mexico, where her mother was found chained to a fence on an empty lot with no shelter. After giving birth to four puppies, local rescue partners stepped in, freed the family, and brought them to safety. One of those puppies was Lua. Now fully grown, Lua has become a bright, affectionate dog with a playful spirit and a deep bond with the people she trusts. Lua is being fostered in a structured training environment, where she has made huge progress with confidence, trust, and social skills. The timid puppy she once was has grown into a loving companion who genuinely enjoys being close to her people. Lua is fun, goofy, and full of energy. Her foster jokes that she has an “invisible trampoline” because she bounces through life with so much excitement. She thrives on praise, affection, and connection, and nothing makes her happier than spending time with the humans she loves. Once she feels comfortable, Lua is incredibly affectionate and playful. She loves attention, enjoys training and enrichment activities, and is especially motivated by dehydrated beef heart treats. She also loves exploring outdoors and has been known to entertain herself chasing frogs around the yard. Lua continues to make positive progress meeting new people, including men. She may need a little time to build trust at first, but she has shown that when people respect her space and allow her to approach at her own pace, she settles in beautifully. Recently, Lua met a male adopter during one of another dog's adoption pick-ups and did amazing, showing a growing level of comfort and confidence around new people. Lua has also shown that she can coexist well with calm, balanced dogs, especially respectful male dogs. She communicates clearly and appropriately with other dogs when she needs space. During a recent introduction with a new dog, Lua set boundaries appropriately when the other dog crowded her space. Since then, the dogs have continued improving together as introductions progress. Her close companion has recently transitioned to a Foster-to-Adopt home, and Lua is now beginning to build new relationships with other dogs in care. Her foster is continuing introductions to help her expand her social circle and confidence. Lua would do best in a quiet suburban or rural home rather than a busy condo or apartment setting. She has natural guardian instincts and will alert bark when she notices unfamiliar sounds or activity, so shared hallways and high-traffic environments are likely to be overwhelming for her. She has made excellent progress with her manners and impulse control, including calmer greetings and mealtimes. She settles well into routine and sleeps comfortably in her crate overnight. Lua could do well with older, dog-savvy teenagers who understand canine body language and know how to respect a dog’s boundaries. She will thrive with patient adopters who are committed to continuing her training and helping her build confidence at her own pace. What makes Lua so special is how much she has overcome. With structure, patience, and support, she has grown into a loyal, loving dog who forms incredibly strong bonds with her people. She is ready for a committed home that will continue celebrating her progress and giving her the stability she deserves. Due to Lua’s unique circumstances, her adoption fee has been sponsored by Fetch + Releash. Approved adopters must also commit to continuing training with a certified positive reinforcement trainer following adoption to help set Lua up for success. Story
Currently fostered in Texas Meet BamBam , he is a bulldog mix?? Maybe some boxer in there. He is apx 4-8 months and weighs apx 17 pounds on 6/9, growing fast He will be apx 40 pounds fully grown. He is a puppy that is going to need a patient, loving and committed adopter . He needs training and routine and lots of positive reinforcement. He is very loving , cuddly, and smart. He is very food motivated. Knows sit, and wait. He loves all people and other animals but does try to chase the cat just out of playful curiosity. He is a giant baby. He sleeps in the human bed, he hates a crate or puppy pen and will scream his head off however he is not potty trained so that has been a challenge. He needs someone home often enough that can be consistent in taking him outside potty. He definitely needs other dogs and playmates. He is good with all dogs big and small old and young. He is not a loner. Bam Bam is also a bit mouthy and likes to put his mouth and teeth on you when playing or showing affection. This has gotten a LOT better and I have been working at this pretty hard to curve this habit but he may not be suitable very young children or seniors. He is not trying to hurt anyone but the way he plays may accidentally injure someone with sensitive skin. He is a gentle loving soul, he loves cuddles and being picked up and sleeps right next to you. He is a good eater and knows to sit and wait for food and treats. He is very trainable but forgets very quickly so he needs consistency. We did have a dna test done on him that should be back in apx 4 weeks. He is an amazing boy that needs the perfect home. Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. To get approved please visit our website www.texaschihuahuarescuecanada.org to fill in an application to adopt.

Story
FOR ADOPTION: A few weeks ago, we introduced you to Rusty is a young boxer mix who was struggling in a shelter environment, overlooked not because he was a bad dog, but because he was overwhelmed, frustrated, and simply lacking an outlet. That was never the real Rusty. Since entering foster care, Rusty has completely transformed. With regular exercise, structure, patience, and love, his true personality has emerged and it’s impossible not to fall in love with him. At just 1 year old, Rusty is playful, intelligent, goofy, affectionate, and always eager to be part of whatever his humans are doing. He has settled beautifully into his foster home and has loved every adventure that has come his way from waterfront walks, to hikes, to tagging along on outings and car rides. Now that we’ve gotten to know Rusty better, we know exactly what kind of home will help him continue to thrive. Rusty’s ideal forever home would include: • An active family who enjoys long walks, hikes, and outdoor adventures • A family experienced with higher-energy dogs and committed to continuing his training as Rusty is incredibly smart and learns quickly • Another playful dog companion would be a bonus, as Rusty is very social and enjoys dogs that match his energy level • Older children would likely be the best fit because of his enthusiasm and size • A fenced yard where he can safely burn off energy and play A few more things to know about Rusty: • He LOVES car rides and dog toys • He is doing wonderfully in his crate overnight and when left home alone • He’s become very popular at his vet clinic and the staff absolutely adore him • He is happiest when included in daily life and adventures with his people His foster family knows saying goodbye will not be easy, but they also know Rusty deserves a forever family who sees him for who he truly is. In their words: “Rusty is going to make his new family VERY happy with his goofy antics and fun personality! He is always eager to please his humans.” Sometimes the dog you almost overlook… Turns out to be exactly the dog someone was waiting for. If you think Rusty may be the perfect addition to your family, please fill out an adoption application through TEAM Dog Rescue: www.teamdogrescue.ca
