Story
Meet Cheese, a one and a half year old Boxer/Pointer mix.Cheese’s story is a tough one for such a young dog. Adopted as a puppy in 2025, he’s unfortunately been returned to the shelter three times. That kind of instability is hard on any dog, and it’s left him with some separation anxiety—but it’s also made one thing very clear: Cheese is ready for a true forever home that will commit to him for life.Despite everything, Cheese is still a happy, outgoing, and delightfully dorky guy. His adorable underbite gives him a constant goofy grin, and his playful personality makes him a joy to be around. He bonds deeply with his people and thrives on connection—he just needs someone who can give him consistency, reassurance, and clear direction.Cheese is a smart pup who already knows “sit” and is very treat motivated, which makes training a great way to build his confidence and strengthen your bond. He’s strong and energetic, so he’ll do best with an adopter who can provide structure, regular exercise, and guidance to help him feel secure.Because of his prey drive, Cheese would do best in a home without cats. What he really needs is someone who understands that he’s been through a lot and is ready to show him what stability and unconditional love look like. He has met other dogs while with us and has done extremely well and could be a good candidate for a home with another dog. If you’re willing to invest in him, Cheese will give you his whole heart—and he’s just waiting for the person who will make sure he never has to come back again. This pet is available for adoption on 4.21.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Rex is a lovable, high-energy boxer looking for his forever family! He was born 2-13-2022. This handsome boy is full of personality—playful, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure. Like a true boxer, he’s goofy, loving, and always eager to be by your side. Rex gets along great with kids and other dogs, but because he jumps when excited, we recommend a home with children 5 and up. His ideal family should have experience with the boxer breed and understand their energetic nature. A fenced yard and an active household would be perfect for this bouncy boy! If Rex is the only dog in the home, he’ll need plenty of physical and mental stimulation to keep him happy and engaged. He thrives on playtime, training, and interactive activities that challenge both his body and mind. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, loyal companion who will keep you laughing and moving, Rex is your guy! His ideal home would be one with a securely fenced yard, and if there are kids in the home, over the age of 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Meet Darcy Lynn, a one and a half year old Hound/Boxer mix weighing 48 pounds.Darcy Lynn is a sweet girl who has had a lot of change happen all at once. She came into our care after her owner was arrested, and sadly, no one has come forward to take her home. We can only imagine how confusing and frightening that must be for her, especially while she’s missing the person she knew and loved.Darcy is very scared right now and needs a slow, gentle approach. She’s not the kind of dog who will immediately run up and greet you—she needs time to feel safe, build trust, and understand that she’s okay. With patience, consistency, and plenty of TLC, we’re hopeful she’ll begin to come out of her shell. For now, Darcy would do best in a calm home without young children. She is also a flight risk, so her adopters will need to be especially careful with doors, gates, and transitions. Darcy should not be allowed outside without being securely leashed right now.Darcy didn’t ask for any of these changes, and she deserves the chance to decompress and heal from everything she’s been through. She’s looking for someone who will give her the time she needs and never give up on her.If you have a quiet home, a patient heart, and lots of TLC to give, Darcy Lynn may be the girl who needs you most. Story
Meet Nova, an almost four-year-old Frenchie/Boxer mix weighing 54 pounds.Nova is one-of-a-kind! This happy, outgoing girl is a total character with a fantastic smile, plenty of personality, and enough zoomies to keep you laughing. She’s active, playful, and always ready for her next adventure—or a good round of toy time!Nova is a bit of a talker and isn’t shy about letting you know what she’s thinking. She loves toys, absolutely loves treats, and already knows the command “sit.” She’s a fun-loving, enthusiastic girl who brings lots of joy and energy wherever she goes.Nova was owner surrendered due to a change in lifestyle, but she’s ready to put that chapter behind her and find a family who will love her for the wonderful, goofy girl she is. She has lived with men, women, children, dogs, and cats, making her a well-rounded companion. One important note: Nova is allergic to chicken, so she’ll need a chicken-free diet and treats. If you’re looking for an active, happy, affectionate dog with a big personality, an even bigger smile, and a few lovable zoomies, Nova might just be your girl!
