Story
I am Rocket! I am a 2 and a half year old Boxer. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, neutered, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Friendly, Curious, Playful Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I am a big, sweet man. An absolute beefcake of a man, while I am very stubborn, my love of people is more than enough to make up for it. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: While I dont have any accidents at the shelter, there may be a few accidents in my new home while I get use to our new routine together! I should do well in a home: I should do well with kids of any age given proper supervision. My freinds at the shelter are unsure how I would do with cats in the home. While I do like other dogs at daycare and outside of the home, I would do best as the only dog in the house as I dont like to share my space. My favorite activities are: People watching, getting buttscratches, and sitting with my favorite people. Things I need work on are: I do need to lose some weight, and I need to know my basic commands. Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: N/A Daycare Status: N/A My adoption fee is: $300 Training Requirement if applicable: N/A *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Atlas - Energetic, snuggly 8 month old looking for his soulmate   In his short life Atlas has been bounced around a lot. Recently, he has been learning a lot including confidence and trust in his humans. It took Atlas about a month to decompress at his current foster home so he will require patience, trust, and a lot of positive reinforcement. He has so much love to give we know it’ll be worth it! He's so eager to please his humans in the house and will need to be supervised, corrected (when necessary), and given positive reinforcement for him to be a successful dog. He response well to a confident human so an experienced owner is recommended for Atlas. Atlas will require a slow introduction to other dogs as he doesn't like them in his face right when they meet (As is common in many dogs). After 10-15 minutes, when he’s comfortable, he will initiate play.  Atlas does enjoy wrestling with his 3 foster fur siblings, however, it will take him a while to adjust to not only a new doggie friend, but also a new routine and new home environment.  He loves to chase, wrestle, and howl when he's ready to play. Atlas can get a little jealous when the other dogs try to snuggle with his foster mom, but he takes corrects well and backs off. He loves women and loves his current foster dad, but sometimes, he is fearful of other men. He has been going out in public stores and working on his confidence. He loves getting treats from new friends, so we highly encourage his new family to continue doing that for positive experiences.  Atlas has been working very hard on his manners with the resident kitty. It took him a few weeks to understand he can't play with the cat whenever he wants. He is allowing the kitty to walk around the house without trying to chase her. He will do best with a dog savy cat or a home without a kitty friend.  Atlas is also working hard on his manners! He sits and waits until the food bowl is on the ground. He is also learning sit and wait hand signals and knows lay down. He take treats nicely, but if he gets a little too excited, he knows "nice". Atlas has great recall. He is such a human pleaser that he doesn't like to go far from them. He LOVES fetch! He loved all the toys but loves playing fetch. He will bring the ball back and drop it without you needing to tell him.  crate trained but is a big fan of cuddling with his humans Potty trained but it’s common for dogs especially ones who have been bounced around to need an adjustment period so he may have initial accidents in a new home okay with kids who are calmer and let him come on his terms but with a dog that is more on the shy/scared side, he needs to build trust with everyone he meets so we recommend no kids under 8.  loves being told when hes a "good boy". If you’re interested in adopting Atlas, and are Pre-approved, please private message us, or APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!) **Atlas’s  $250 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines to date, heartworm test, current vet check, and microchip. ##2302886##

Story
Rocket is a very handsome 2.5-year-old Boxer. He was recently transferred to DHS from a local shelter. Rocket LOVES peanut butter, and his favorite toy is a ball! He is a very energetic boy!He is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on a leash. Rocket did previously live with another dog, with whom he did not get along, but did well at doggy daycare with appropriate playmates. Rocket will need someone who can give him the correct training to set him up for success. He has not been around cats, so his demeanor with them is unknown. Rocket is a very gentle, loving boy who is looking for an active home to keep him busy, but one who also loves a good couch cuddle on a rainy day!"I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petacademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petacademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle me into your home. Meet Popsicle! 🍦 This sweet girl is a golden eyed, beautiful boxer mix, and she’s finally learning what love really feels like. Popsicle spent over two years in a neglected rural shelter before being rescued — she was just a name on a forgotten list. But even after all that time, she’s full of joy, wiggles, and affection. Now thriving in her foster home, Popsicle is gaining confidence every day. She’s goofy, playful, and so eager to be part of a family. Whether she’s trotting alongside you on an adventure or curled up by your side for a snuggle, she just wants to love and be loved. She gets along well with other dogs but she prefers to keep high value things to herself so she utilizes her kennel for high value items. Popsicle is in fact so happy she has her tail amputated due to injury from constant wagging! This girl has come so far. All she needs now is a forever home where she’ll never be overlooked again.

Story
Hello, my name is Baby Girl! I am an 8-year-old female pitbull/english bulldog mix. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, spayed, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Playful, Affectionate, Cuddly Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I'm a sweet old lady who's looking for a retirment home! Despite my age I still have some energy when excited. I LOVE playing with toys and I'm not picky about what kind! I get very excited when hearing my own name. When I've had my fill of playing I'd love nothing more than to cuddle up with my human (though I may try to climb in your lap). Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 6/10 Housetraining Status: I have been good at keeping my kennel clean, however it may take me some time to adjust to the schedule in my new home. I should do well in a home: I am required to meet any and all dogs in my potential home. I should do well with children of all ages. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: Despite being a senior I still have a bit of energy and LOVE playing with toys! Things I need work on are: Basic commands, leash walking Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: "Went on a nice little walk and she was so excited she ran for a little bit, and played with toys later." "Baby Girl was sweet and kind as soon as we met her. She was thrilled to play outside but loved just laying and getting pets with us as well. She was calm and quiet, happy to just be with us. She’d be a perfect dog for any type of household!" "Baby Girl was an absolute gem on her doggy day out! She did very well in the car and LOVED looking out the window. When playing outside, she was very energetic and loved to play fetch and sprint around. On her walk, she was very curious about all her surroundings and had to take in all the smells. Baby Girl is a BIG cuddle bug when it comes to getting cozy inside. All she wanted to do was snuggle up on your lap or right next to you and receive all the pets and love. Baby Girl is also very curious and wants to know what you’re doing if you are not with her. She’s like your little shadow. Overall, Baby Girl is such a sweet girl and would make the best companion for whoever adopts her."
