Story
Atlas - Energetic, snuggly 8 month old looking for his soulmate   In his short life Atlas has been bounced around a lot. Recently, he has been learning a lot including confidence and trust in his humans. It took Atlas about a month to decompress at his current foster home so he will require patience, trust, and a lot of positive reinforcement. He has so much love to give we know it’ll be worth it! He's so eager to please his humans in the house and will need to be supervised, corrected (when necessary), and given positive reinforcement for him to be a successful dog. He response well to a confident human so an experienced owner is recommended for Atlas. Atlas will require a slow introduction to other dogs as he doesn't like them in his face right when they meet (As is common in many dogs). After 10-15 minutes, when he’s comfortable, he will initiate play.  Atlas does enjoy wrestling with his 3 foster fur siblings, however, it will take him a while to adjust to not only a new doggie friend, but also a new routine and new home environment.  He loves to chase, wrestle, and howl when he's ready to play. Atlas can get a little jealous when the other dogs try to snuggle with his foster mom, but he takes corrects well and backs off. He loves women and loves his current foster dad, but sometimes, he is fearful of other men. He has been going out in public stores and working on his confidence. He loves getting treats from new friends, so we highly encourage his new family to continue doing that for positive experiences.  Atlas has been working very hard on his manners with the resident kitty. It took him a few weeks to understand he can't play with the cat whenever he wants. He is allowing the kitty to walk around the house without trying to chase her. He will do best with a dog savy cat or a home without a kitty friend.  Atlas is also working hard on his manners! He sits and waits until the food bowl is on the ground. He is also learning sit and wait hand signals and knows lay down. He take treats nicely, but if he gets a little too excited, he knows "nice". Atlas has great recall. He is such a human pleaser that he doesn't like to go far from them. He LOVES fetch! He loved all the toys but loves playing fetch. He will bring the ball back and drop it without you needing to tell him.  crate trained but is a big fan of cuddling with his humans Potty trained but it’s common for dogs especially ones who have been bounced around to need an adjustment period so he may have initial accidents in a new home okay with kids who are calmer and let him come on his terms but with a dog that is more on the shy/scared side, he needs to build trust with everyone he meets so we recommend no kids under 8.  loves being told when hes a "good boy". If you’re interested in adopting Atlas, and are Pre-approved, please private message us, or APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!) **Atlas’s  $250 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines to date, heartworm test, current vet check, and microchip. ##2302886##

It’s in the dogs/puppies best interest to be placed into their furever homes in a timely fashion. All household members must attend the meet and greet. Popsicle is the absolute best girl with a very wonderful personality. She does fine with all the foster dogs living in her current home. The only thing that she ask is that her crate can be her space in her space only. She has a very boxer style way of play so having a more mellow dog or someone that understands her type of play would be best. She was recently adopted into a home with a very giant, high energy dog, and it stressed her out. She’s such a happy girl so happy that she had to have her tail amputated due to a chronic happy tail situation so now she has a very cute little nub to solidify her boxer style!

These pups are in Onalaska, Wisconsin too!

Story
Have you lapsed on that New Years resolution to go for more walks, spend more time in nature, or become a runner? Are you looking for an accountability buddy to stop you from saying, "Eh, maybe next year?" Our girl Nova would love nothing more than to be the one who's by your side every step of the way on those walks, hikes, runs, or any other dog-friendly physical activities. If you're looking for motivation, then Nova is looking for you! Nova is current on her vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. Her personality can be summed up with three words: Athletic, Confident, and EXTROVERTED! Staff and volunteers say that there is no one that Nova doesn't want to meet, and of course, play with. Nova's energy level is certainly a 9 out of 10. Of course she'll be ready for some good cuddles once she gets her surplus of energy out, but she is still a large older puppy on the very cusp of adulthood! She is working on her housetraining, with quite a bit of success! In any new environment she will require some patience as she adjusts to a new routine. She should do well in a home with children of all ages given proper introductions and appropriate supervision at first, considering her large size and energy level. Due to her exuberant playstyle, she is required to meet any future dog siblings, as some dogs may not tolerate her love for rough-housing. We are unsure how Nova would do with cats. Nova's favorite activities include: Playing with any and all toys (Especially rope toys), running like the wind, chasing her tail, and getting her butt scratched. Things she'll need to work on include: manners on leash, realizing her size/strength, and basic commands. She knows Sit, Down, Speak, and is working on "Shake." She also knows her name, and comes when she is called! Doggy Day Out Notes: "Nova did great on her doggy day out! She was super excited to get outside, and once we hit the trails, she did really well with healing and staying near me. She also loved sniffing around and seemed to really enjoy being outside in nature. She has such an outgoing personality, and I would definitely bring her out on the trails again!" "Nova is the sweetest girl ever! I can’t express enough how amazing and calm she is! Nova is very curious and loves to smell everything when we went on walks! She greeted everyone with a smile and received lots of love throughout the day:) She is a big fan a treats and is very well trained on sit and shake. She was unfazed about seeing dogs on our walks and enjoyed hanging around large groups of people. Nova especially loved laying in the yard soaking up the sun!" "Today nova and I went on 3 walks! Unfortunately it was raining, but that didn’t stop us. We curled up together on my bed and practiced some tricks. Nova was very eager to please! I was very much expecting nova to be very high energy, but part way through the day, her whole demeanor changed and she calmed down. From today’s experience, I feel that she gets excited when meeting new people and doing new things, but calms down relatively fast and fully relaxes. Nova practiced her tricks and was very eager to please." "Nova was the sweetest girl. Instead of taking her on hike, I took her to the beach since it was so hot. She loved fetching the stick out of the water. She splashed around for a while and fell asleep in my car afterwards. She behaved perfectly when other dogs passed on the walk. She only pulled maybe 2 times during the whole outing. I would absolutely adopt her if my landlord let me." "Took a minute to acclimate but overall a great dog! She’s super fun and energetic, can be stubborn and likes to do things her way but was generally good about staying on sidewalks and trails and being redirected during walks. Did like to eat grass/dirt but did decent with most redirections. Did great with commands especially with treats. Only one time was she really “naughty”, she started trying to bite her leash and wouldn’t let go, but after burning the energy out at a dog park she did great on her walk for the trail after! Overall a very spirited and bright dog! It was a lot of fun spending a day with her!" Any special needs: Dog Meet Required Nova's adoption fee is: $300 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Hi there, my name is Lulu! I'm a 10 year-old spayed female Pit Bull Terrier. I am current on my vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm negative! 3 words that describe me: Cuddly, Spunky, Sweet Things my foster has to say about me: She's getting used to car rides and love pup-cups. She love walks and is SO GOOD with kids, even in groups. She seems to have a bit of prey drive (likes to chase after squirrels and bunnies in the backyard) She's such a sweetie and is definitely becoming one of our favs! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 6/10 Housetraining Status: I was good at keeping my kennel clean but my foster mom says I need work on my potty training in my home. I'm getting used to my routine though! I should do well in a home: I should do well with children of all ages given proper supervision in the beginning. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust because I did well in playgroups at CRHS. But, my friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats since I chase squirrels and bunnies in my foster home. My favorite activities are: I LOVE snuggling up with my humans and being involved in what they do. I love going for walks and really enjoy sitting out in the sunshine! Things I need work on are: Potty training routine Doggy day out notes: "Lulu is an nice and easy going dog. When on our walk she stayed by me and paid little mind to the 2 dogs that passed us and other adults. She did great in the car too. At Pet Smart we didn’t see any other dogs and the staff liked her. She allowed them to pet her. Overall, Lulu had a great day and is a relaxed, easy going dog." My adoption fee is: $250 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Hi, my name is Luna! I'm an 8-year-old spayed female Pit Bull Terrier. I am current on my vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm negative! 3 words that describe me: Playful, Spunky, Affectionate. Things my foster has to say about me: Luna is one of the most perfect dogs I've had the pleasure of fostering- and I've fostered A LOT!! She hasn't had a single accident since the 2nd day! She does great with our 2 small dogs and hasn't shown any signs of resource guarding with them. Luna loves being outside and going for car rides, she's done well meeting new people but might do a couple of barks at them. She loves her stuffy toys but most importantly, she loves to "love" them until there is nothing left of them. So, keep them stocked! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: Luna's foster says she hasn't had any accidents since the second day of foster! She just needs a consistent routine! I should do well in a home: I should do well in a home with other dogs given proper introductions since I did well in play groups at CRHS, and I should even do well with dog-savvy cats because I was very respectful as the office dog WITH an office cat in fact- I even tried to play with her toys! I should also do well with kids of any age given proper supervision. My favorite activities are: Playtime is my favorite! I love tennis balls, soft toys, and rope toys. I’m a pro at tug of war, but beware I’m very strong! I also love cuddling up on the couch with my favorite people! Things I need work on are: I could use some work on my basic commands and making my stuffies last a little longer. Doggy Day Out Notes: "Luna is the sweetest girl with the perfect mix of calm and playful! She did amazing in the car, if she wasn’t looking out the window she was sprawled out in the back laying down. She was also amazing walking didn’t pull once! She was so sweet all day and loved picking out her new toy and showing it off when she got back! Seriously the cutest sweetest little girl ever!" "Luna did amazing, she was a little nervous at first but after 30 minutes she warmed right up! sweetest girl. She has a harder time focusing on walks but if you are sitting with her she sits and lays down very well!" My adoption fee is: $250 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal
