Story
Atlas - Energetic, snuggly 8 month old looking for his soulmate   In his short life Atlas has been bounced around a lot. Recently, he has been learning a lot including confidence and trust in his humans. It took Atlas about a month to decompress at his current foster home so he will require patience, trust, and a lot of positive reinforcement. He has so much love to give we know it’ll be worth it! He's so eager to please his humans in the house and will need to be supervised, corrected (when necessary), and given positive reinforcement for him to be a successful dog. He response well to a confident human so an experienced owner is recommended for Atlas. Atlas will require a slow introduction to other dogs as he doesn't like them in his face right when they meet (As is common in many dogs). After 10-15 minutes, when he’s comfortable, he will initiate play.  Atlas does enjoy wrestling with his 3 foster fur siblings, however, it will take him a while to adjust to not only a new doggie friend, but also a new routine and new home environment.  He loves to chase, wrestle, and howl when he's ready to play. Atlas can get a little jealous when the other dogs try to snuggle with his foster mom, but he takes corrects well and backs off. He loves women and loves his current foster dad, but sometimes, he is fearful of other men. He has been going out in public stores and working on his confidence. He loves getting treats from new friends, so we highly encourage his new family to continue doing that for positive experiences.  Atlas has been working very hard on his manners with the resident kitty. It took him a few weeks to understand he can't play with the cat whenever he wants. He is allowing the kitty to walk around the house without trying to chase her. He will do best with a dog savy cat or a home without a kitty friend.  Atlas is also working hard on his manners! He sits and waits until the food bowl is on the ground. He is also learning sit and wait hand signals and knows lay down. He take treats nicely, but if he gets a little too excited, he knows "nice". Atlas has great recall. He is such a human pleaser that he doesn't like to go far from them. He LOVES fetch! He loved all the toys but loves playing fetch. He will bring the ball back and drop it without you needing to tell him.  crate trained but is a big fan of cuddling with his humans Potty trained but it’s common for dogs especially ones who have been bounced around to need an adjustment period so he may have initial accidents in a new home okay with kids who are calmer and let him come on his terms but with a dog that is more on the shy/scared side, he needs to build trust with everyone he meets so we recommend no kids under 8.  loves being told when hes a "good boy". If you’re interested in adopting Atlas, and are Pre-approved, please private message us, or APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!) **Atlas’s  $250 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines to date, heartworm test, current vet check, and microchip. ##2302886##

Meet Popsicle! 🍦 This sweet girl is a golden eyed, beautiful boxer mix, and she’s finally learning what love really feels like. Popsicle spent over two years in a neglected rural shelter before being rescued — she was just a name on a forgotten list. But even after all that time, she’s full of joy, wiggles, and affection. Now thriving in her foster home, Popsicle is gaining confidence every day. She’s goofy, playful, and so eager to be part of a family. Whether she’s trotting alongside you on an adventure or curled up by your side for a snuggle, she just wants to love and be loved. She gets along well with other dogs but she prefers to keep high value things to herself so she utilizes her kennel for high value items. Popsicle is in fact so happy she has her tail amputated due to injury from constant wagging! This girl has come so far. All she needs now is a forever home where she’ll never be overlooked again.

Story
**I am an extended stay friend at the shelter, my adoption fee has been lowered to $50 until July 6th!** Hi! My name is Zailey I am a 5-year-old, spayed Pit Bull Terrier. I am microchipped, heartworm tested and current on my vaccines. 3 words that describe me: Adorable, Adaptable, and Active Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: Zailey is a wonderful girl who has formed strong bonds with both staff and volunteers. She carries herself with grace at the shelter and is always sweet and affectionate with staff and volunteers. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10) 7/8 Housetraining Status: Zailey is making progress with house training and just needs a little guidance and consistency to master it completely. I should do well in a home: Zailey would thrive in a home WITHOUT children or cats. She tends to do better with male dogs and could do well with the right canine companion, given a proper introduction and time to adjust. Zailey's favorite activities are spending quality time with loved ones and being involved in whatever they’re doing. She just love being part of the action! Doggy Day Out Notes: "Zailey did great today, she got so tired out on our walks. She also did lots of tricks and loves treats. Very social and loves to meet new people." "She is such a sweet dog. She loves looking out the window on car rides, and she even rolled down the window herself at one point. She was very treat motivated and sat, laid down, and did shake for a treat. She saw a ton of people today, she did great, was very sweet and wanted all the attention. She pulls a little on leash and gets excited especially when going in the pet store but she does listen well when redirected! She is a great dog!" "Zailey did fantastic on her day out! She is very friendly and did super meeting my husband and a friend. She does pretty good leash walking and pulls a bit but not bad, mostly out of being excited. Zailey is treat and toy motivated and does the 'sit' command well. She does super on car rides and loves putting her snout out the window when it is partly rolled down! Love this petite pittie!" Things I need work on are: Basic Commands Any special needs: N/A My adoption fee is: $50 until July 6th since I am an extended stay friend at the shelter Training Requirement if applicable: $0 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Hello, I'm Sophie! I am current on my vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and soon to be heartworm tester 3 words that describe me: Affectionate, Couch Potato, and Cuddly Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I am a big girl with some big feelings. I am quite the talker for being a Pit mix, and I love to sing. I as the sweetest girl who will accept belly rubs from anyone and loves to be with my people. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 3 or 4/10 Housetraining Status: I like to keep my kennel clean at the shelter, but when I go into a new home I might have a couple accidents until I learn our routine. I should do well in a home: Other dogs given proper introductions and supervision, I came into the shelter with my sister, Suzie, and love to hang out with her. My friends at the shelter believe I would do good in a home with any ages, according to my old owners, I love kids of all ages. My favorite activities are: Hanging out with my favorite people (everyone),getting belly rubs, lounging around with my sister, and singing songs. Things I need work on are: Some weight loss, I am a big girl and need a home that will work on helping me lose weight and keeping that weight off Any special needs: I take a twice daily thyroid medication. Doggy day out notes: "She did a great job! She was ready to explore and was prepared to stop and sniff whenever she could. Other than wanting to lead us off our path a few times, Sophie walked on her leash great. She loved her treats and pup cup!" "She is a super good walker, and likes to sniff around a lot. She got a little nervous and was barking at my dad when he was in the room. She’s super sweet and loves belly rubs." "Both Sophie and Suzie did great out. They were good on the leash and barely pulled beside when excited. They enjoyed walking and playing with each other." "Sophie was super sweet and she loved to explore the park. She loved to explore the park. She loved leading the walk but also enjoyed sitting and watching squirrels. She LOVES getting her belly rubbed and getting pets." "She is generally happy and excited to participate but definitely limited in her mobility because of the weight. Walks well on leash and knows her name. Got approached by a young dog that slipped their harness and responded well, loose dog was very respectful so that helped too." Hello, I'm Suzie! I am current on my vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and soon to be heartworm tester 3 words that describe me: Affectionate, Athletic and Friendly Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I am a very polite girl with the biggest smile, I love being outside and I love being with my sister. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: I like to keep my kennel clean at the shelter, but when I go into a new home I might have a couple accidents until I learn our routine. My friends at the shelter believe I would do good in a home with any ages, according to my old owners, I love kids of all ages. My friends at the shelter are unsure how I would do with cats. My favorite activities are: Hanging out with Sophie, going for walks, getting to play, although I am not a fan of toys. Things I need work on are: When I get excited I tend to jump up on people and pull on leash. Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: "Suzie did really well! She did pull a bit when we first would start walking somewhere or if we were close to people, and would jump if she was excited. She is super curious and liked to sniff everything. She was super social when we came across people and even made friends with a couple by the river! She does like to chase squirrels and tried to keep jumping to reach one in a tree, but stopped when I asked her to. She loves to roll around in the grass and be silly!" "Suzie was lovely. She liked to pull at her leash as we explored nature and downtown, and she was very eager to meet people of all ages. She was very calm and laid back in the car rides, and she barked just a couple times while we were practicing tricks. She’s a sweetheart who I’d he happy to take on a doggy day out anytime." "Suzie rode quietly and calmly in the car and we went on a 2 hour hike without tiring out! She quickly caught onto the concept of heel and sit quickly on command. She did great with my 4 kids but can jump when she gets really excited although she is quickly and easily redirected. She is such a sweet girl!" "Suzie is the sweetest girl! She loved meeting new people and exploring new places. She did really well on her walk and loved rolling around in the grass and leaves. The sweetest dog!!" "She was such a good girl. She is quiet but very energetic. She loved the hike and was super happy to be outside. She was otherwise a very good girl and so sweet!"
