Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Sadie is a lively, energetic pup who absolutely loves other dogs and doesn’t seem to mind cats. She’s affectionate and enjoys cuddles, but she also has an independent streak and likes to do her own thing sometimes. Sadie would thrive with a furry friend to play with and needs a fenced yard where she can safely run and explore. REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another small dogVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Please read the bio in full for answers to common questions. If you have a question not covered here, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Because all of our dogs live in foster homes, meet-and-greets are scheduled only after a completed application is received. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance of Wilmington, DE so our volunteers can conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Sammy 🎾 Sammy is a sweet 12-13 year old Shih Tzu mix (~15 lbs) with a lot of heart. He's been through his share of vet visits — dental work, a mass removal, and treatment for a heart murmur — but none of it has dimmed his love for life. Or for fetch, which is basically his whole personality. Hand him his crinkly toy and he will happily play for hours. He's medium energy, minimally vocal, fully housebroken, and great on a leash — an easy dog to live with day to day. Sammy gets along wonderfully with other dogs and adores kids of all ages, from infants to pre-teens. He sleeps independently in his own dog bed but is always up for a cuddle when the mood strikes, and he tends to be the calm, easygoing one, happy to let his brother take the lead while he focuses on the important things — like fetch. The fine print: Sammy must be adopted alongside his bonded brother, Baxter — the two are a package deal. He'll do best with someone home often, who understands his health needs and has love (and time) enough for both boys. Sammy does have IVDD, so his ideal home is one without jumping from furniture (though stairs are no problem for him), and where someone can manage his monthly meds — Gabapentin and pimobendan for his heart. He can be a little skittish about his back end being touched because of it, but he's otherwise comfortable being picked up and handled.

Story
Local Surrender Southampton Pa Pa Kl 5254 Let me introduce you to Skyla, a sweet and gentle little dog who blossoms once she gets to know you. She may be shy when meeting new people, but it doesn't take long before her affectionate personality shines through. Once she feels comfortable, she'll happily curl up beside you and may even reward you with a special kiss. Skyla enjoys a calm, relaxed lifestyle. She likes playing with her toys for a short time before settling down to rest, and a brief walk around the block is usually enough to keep her happy. While she's interested in the world around her, she's not the type who needs to greet every person she meets. At home, Skyla can be trusted on her own for a few hours and enjoys keeping an eye on the neighborhood from the window. She can be vocal when she sees people or dogs outside. She may have been crated for long periods in her past, so she does not like the crate and will bark, not constantly but will bark throughout the day. Skyla would thrive in a quiet, low-activity adult home where she can be the center of attention. She would likely do best as the only dog, with someone who appreciates her gentle nature and is happy to let her be the princess she believes she is! Meet Skylar! This petite 5 year old, 9-pound girl may be shy at first, but she is warming up and showing more of her personality every day. She gets along with other dogs, enjoys walks, and is learning to cuddle with her people. Skyla would thrive in a calm home where she can continue building confidence. She's working on potty training and sleeps in a crate for now, but once she's fully trained, she would loe to snuggle in bed with her person. With a little patience and love, Skyla will make a wonderful companion. Please visit our website www.wagsrescue.org to learn more about this amazing dog and Wags Rescue.
