Story
(04/27/2023) Are you a Bull Terrier fan?  Then maybe, just maybe, Batman is the man for you!  Let us tell you what Batman is looking for in a long-term relationship... Batman would do best with an active family or another playful dog. He definitely needs several good play sessions each  day.   He's a happy, wiggly boy and has yet to meet a stranger.  He does well with all people he's encountered and wants to play with all the dogs he's come across.  He is good with kids as well!  Batman hasn't had an opportunity to meet cats so we don't know about that. He's still in that phase where he is maturing and should be monitored or crated when you are not with him, otherwise his puppy curiousity might get the best of him; he may just explore where he shouldn't.  Who knows what kind of mischief he could wind up in??  He does well in his crate after playtime and doesn't seem to mind his "down time."  He could benefit from a fenced yard to play in but would be fine without one as long as his family exercised him appropriately or brought him to doggie daycare. He's happy with whatever adventures you throw at him!  With that in mind, he could be pup for a person/family in a condo, apartment or townhome since he does not require a fenced yard; just needs plenty of play time. He is perfecting his potty training and gets about 5 or so potty breaks each day.  So he needs someone who is going to be home a good amount of time/working from home, so he is able to continue his routine.  He currently sleeps on a simple cot or the cool floor since he's turned his fluffy bed into his chew toy...ooops!!  Well, honestly, it looked like a big, ole fun toy to Batman.  He does love chew toys so make sure he has a good variety to keep him occupied and chewing on the right things. Batman also loves car rides!  Did we mention, he loves car rides?  He is a super fan of jumping the car and heading out!  Let's put some music on and just go!  He is happy to be your traveling companion and will be an excellent co-polit without "barking" any orders!  To that end, Batman has a lot of typical puppy behavior.  He and his fur-ever family would be smart to spend time working on basic obedience and queues to build long-term positive behavior.  He's happy and has a decent amount of energy so someone looking for a lazy dog might not be the ideal fit for him. As part of Batman’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Batman, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2073107##

Story
Foster notes, 12/4/23:Pie is an extremely affectionate dog that has lived most of his life in the shelter. He would benefit from some training as he can be hyper but this is at no fault of his own. Having another playmate helps with his energy. Because Pie hasn’t had a lot of interactions with other dogs and been able to be a pup himself, all he wants to do is play while the other dogs are wanting to rest. With positive redirection Pie will calm down and take a rest himself. Pie gets really excited and will try to grab blankets, toys, whatever may be around so I would recommend lots of variety of toys for him. He absolutely loves playing fetch and could play this for hours if you allowed it. Pie is such an amazing dog that has been looked over time and time again. All he wants is love, affection and attention. He will make an amazing partner in any adventure his family goes on. He loves to ride in cars and when we take him out, he goes to the car wanting to get in- it’s the absolute cutest thing. Pie loves to get belly rubs and will reward you with all of the kisses in the world. He is such a good boy that is so deserving of a forever home. Pie is house and crate trained, and lets you know when he needs to go potty. He is walked on a leash to go outside and is starting to do much better on leash. There are times when Pie will take charge and wants to walk himself by taking the leash in his mouth and starts walking in the direction he would like to go. I crate Pie when I leave the house and he’s done absolutely amazing. Pie knows sit and that is about it. We are working on other commands. I would recommend not playing tug of war with him and just tell him to “drop” the toy and he will so you can then throw it for him to go and fetch. This is a positive way to play with Pie that does not get him too overstimulated and excited. Pie does amazing with my 2 year old and my other dogs. I would recommend that Pie go to a home with at least one other dog so he can have someone to play with as playing as become his absolute favorite thing to do. I also have cats in the house and Pie is not bothered at all with them and does not engage with them at all, he is just uninterested in cats. Like every dog, Pie just needs a family willing to show him patience and love and who will work with him. Sound like you?
