Story
Meet Ripken! If you remember Shortstop, Ripken is related to him, and we decided she should be a "Shortstop" too! Ripken is only about 25 pounds and likely won't get any bigger as shes estimated to be between 8 months and a year old! This little girl is doing great at house training, and shes friendly with dogs and cats. She loves attention, and frequently follows her fosters around giving the "pet me eyes"!  ##2446463##

Story
Daisy June (“DJ”) is looking for her forever home. She is about 2 years young, house- and crate-trained, dog social, and very people social. DJ is high energy and would love a running or cycling companion for daily exercise or family adventures. She is not for the novice dog owner or a home with very young children due to her desire to greet you with her whole being (but this is a work in-progress). She can self-entertain for hours, but to continue her success she should be crated if left alone. DJ is very affectionate and loves to snuggle during tv time. She is incredibly smart, wants to learn and please, and is very trainable. Currently she sleeps in her crate all night without a peep, but if she had the opportunity to sleep with her own person or people, she would be in total bliss. In the daytime she’s happy to play with toys, dog siblings, or sleep while human fosters are working. Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be submitted online, or sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner’s White Oak Shopping Center. We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. Thanks for thinking adoption!

Story
Meet Sunkist: A Sunshine-Filled Sweetheart with Clear BoundariesSunkist is a one-year-old bulldog/boxer mix who loves snuggling close and savoring life's little moments-like stopping to smell the roses on a peaceful walk. She's the perfect blend of playful curiosity and calm affection, ready to share both adventures and cuddles with her forever family.Sunkist knows exactly what she likes and isn't shy about setting boundaries when playing with other male dogs. She's clear that she's not interested in any humpy or overly forward male dogs, so her best match would be a low-key, respectful boy who's happy to be just friends. This lovely lady went on an outing with a volunteer. She did great in the car even though she needed a boost to get in. She likes to keep her adventures short and sweet in hot weather. And she loves a good spa day to keep up her good looks! If you're looking for a loving, soulful companion who'll join you for thoughtful strolls and plenty of cozy moments, Sunkist might just be the perfect fit.If you're looking for a loyal companion who brings warmth and joy to every moment, Sunkist is your girl. Come meet her and fall in love!If you're interested in learning more about Sunkist, please reach out to our Volunteer Matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Sunkist 259854." Sunkist is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be spayed prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Story
Meet Slinky Malinky - 9 Years Old, Quiet Soul, Future CuddlebugSlinky Malinky may have a silly name, but his journey is a tender one. At 9 years old, he's still figuring out how to be a dog. Likely missing out on love and care in his past, he's skinny, cautious, and incredibly curious-sniffing his way through new spaces as he learns to feel safe. He'll need a patient home with plenty of room to adjust at his own pace. But beneath the hesitation is a gentle heart waiting to trust. With time (and treats-his absolute favorite), Slinky Malinky is sure to blossom. He may not know it yet, but cuddles are definitely in his future. Are you the one to show him what love feels like?Since he came in as a stray, we don't know much about his past, but we're getting to know just how wonderful he is. He already knows "sit," takes treats gently, and can even catch them in the air! He's easy to collar and walks past other dogs calmly, though he may pull a little at first-he's eager to get outside and do his business. While not officially on the potty-trained list, he shows good habits.Don't let his age fool you-Slinky Malinky is youthful at heart and loves to sniff and explore the world around him. At 58 lbs, he's a great size for walks and outdoor adventures, and he'd make an excellent walking buddy for someone looking for a loyal companion.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Slinky Malinky 261102".He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: Brindle- Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 58 Age: 9yrs 1mths 1wks
