Age: 6 years old Gender: Male Breed: Bull Mastiff mix Weight: 84 lbs Personality: Very sweet and cuddly! He is very pleasant to walk if there are no other dogs in the area. He is learning to be more confident and less reactive. Education: Good with bathroom and leash training and is working on leash reactivity Favorite Activities: Tug of war, long night walks, hanging out in the kitchen Looking for: An active family who will love him and play with him! Some patient training will help him be the best boy ever! He will do best as an only dog right now. Hippo likes routine so someone who can create some structure for him would be ideal to help with his anxiety! A family with kids would be good, too - he has been great with kids of all ages, even with toddlers! A home with a backyard in a quiet neighborhood would be great! Special needs: Current medication to help with separation anxiety Prozac (fluoxetine) (~$5.00). Monthly cost depending on where purchased and market value. Adoption Fee: $ 250 ##1733826##

How this pet arrived: Kona was brought in by her previous owner on December 6, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Kona! This gorgeous brindle girl is as sweet and loyal as they come. She's been a bit fearful in our care, but with slow introductions and patience, her warm, affectionate side truly shines. Once she feels safe, Kona is the kind of pup who loves soaking up pets, riding shotgun on car adventures, and enjoying a breezy day at the beach. Kona is both crate trained and potty trained, giving her a great head start in her new home. She has done well with other dogs out and about, but she prefers not to share her favorite people - so she's looking to be the only dog in the home. Any kids in the household will need to meet her ahead of time to ensure it's a great fit for everyone. If you're looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little time to blossom, Kona may be your perfect match. At SDHS:Kona has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed.
