How this pet arrived: Rocco was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on August 30, 2024. Why this pet is the one for you:This handsome boy is Rocco! We don't know a whole lot about his history since he was brought in as a stray. His new family will have to take things nice and slow with him while they figure out his likes and dislikes! But with lots of yummy treats and plenty of belly rubs, Rocco is sure to be your best friend in no time! We've learned that he loves to play fetch and walks well on a leash! If this big cutie seems like he could be the dog for you, stop by our Oceanside campus to meet him. Be sure to bring a leash and a collar when you do so you can take him home today! The shelter is severely overcrowded and desperately needs help. Dogs are being turned in higher numbers than the shelter can accommodate, therefore many are losing their lives due to lack of cage space. We are helping get the word out of their immediate need. Please save this deserving pooch and clear a kennel for another dog in need today! I weigh approximately 100.50 lbs. Staff notes: 09/14/24 Took out to play yard for pictures and a video. He was easy to leash and walk. Showed no interest in the other dogs we walked by, just walked right on by. He didn't seem like he was super affectionate but he was very attentive. He's a big boy and everywhere I went, he would follow and sit at my feet. Wasn't demanding for pets and scratches but seemed to like it when he received them. He just wants to be where ever you are. Calm and well mannered. Good boy 09/19/24 Took out for pet of the week photos. Good boy, easy to leash and unleash, walks well with no pulling. Very polite, easily manageable for such a large dog, low energy. Affectionate, loves having the top of his head scratched, will follow you around and patiently wait to be petted. Seems like a couch potato. 09/28/24 Took out for meet and greet, did very good and was mellow the whole time. Potential adopters had small children with them and he did very well and was gentle with the children. Had no issues putting back into kennel. Kyle, is a healthy 130lb big lazy boy. Loves people. Great with most dogs but as he’s in his senior era going on 10 years old, he prefers non-high energy or puppy energy dogs, those that match his netflix & chillout lazy boy energy is preferred. He’s easy going and loves to roam around the yard or house. He is a sweet gentle giant doggo, loves to hangout on a porch or nap most of the day in a dog bed. Big fan of belly rubs. Kyle also loves garden, he’ll pull weeds and sniff the flowers! He’s very much in his "retirement era", a low maintenance ol' chap who just needs a stable safe space to live out the rest of his days with TV and AC. He doesn’t care for much activity as he’s happy with toys and chews and companionship. He’s an old man, with a big stride.
