Gracie is one of those cats. Beneath her soft fur and gentle eyes is a sweet, beautiful soul who is quietly learning that life can be safe, warm, and full of love. Gracie spent her first year living outside with her best buddy. When kind neighbors noticed that her friend had gone missing, they knew she shouldn’t have to face the world alone and reached out to MSAR to help her find a safe place to land. Like many former outdoor kitties, Gracie is a little cautious with humans at first. But she’s learning that people bring pretty wonderful things—like delicious meals, tasty treats, cozy beds, and warm places to sleep. She especially loves sitting at the top of the cat tower where she can watch everything going on below, and recently she’s discovered the joy of curling up in the little hidey holes for a safe, peaceful nap. Gracie is an independent girl, but that’s what makes it so special when she chooses you. The moment she hops onto your lap for some gentle scritches feels like you’ve truly earned her trust—and there’s nothing better than that. About Me: Hello and welcome to my world! I’m Gracie, although my foster dad sometimes calls me Betty White. Apparently they have a large brown beast around here that they also call Gracie, so I guess I needed a stage name! Honestly, I don’t mind—Betty is very distinguished, and I like to think I am too. I wasn’t totally sure about indoor life at first, but I’ve decided it’s actually a pretty amazing arrangement. My foster mom gives me this delicious food every day, and I never have to worry about being cold or hungry again. That alone makes this place pretty great! Everyone seems to love my little frost-kissed ears, but the truth is I’m just enjoying being warm and having friends to romp and snuggle with. If your cat is looking for a new best friend, I would love to apply for the job! I’m also willing to humor the humans—as long as they continue providing a nice perch to survey my domain, a warm bed to curl up in, and plenty of yummy food.  June 30, 2026, 7:09 pm

These two have spent years side by side and rely on each other for comfort, companionship, and plenty of cozy moments. Buttons is as affectionate as they come—she truly lives up to her name with her gentle, lovable personality. She adores people and always wants to be close, whether that means curling up beside you or resting on your lap. She’s incredibly healthy for a senior and still enjoys playtime like a much younger cat. She can be a bit grumpy with other cats, preferring human attention, and absolutely loves cuddles, catnip, and giving little kisses. Hi, I’m Buttons! I may be a senior, but I still have plenty of energy and love to share. You’ll usually find me right next to your legs, keeping you company. I’m a big fan of snuggles and affection—and I’ll happily remind you with kisses. Spooky is just as loving, with a slightly clingy side that makes her all the more endearing. She thrives on being close to her people and will happily tuck herself under the covers for warm, nighttime cuddles. She still enjoys playing with both people and other cats and has a sweet, social personality. Spooky is a bit on the thin side and would benefit from gaining some weight, and she occasionally has trouble keeping food down, but otherwise she’s doing well. Hi, I’m Spooky! I love being right in the middle of whatever you’re doing—I’m a bit of a “helper” that way. I’ll definitely insist on bedtime snuggles, especially under the covers. And if you pet me, don’t be surprised if I meow every single time—it’s just my way of saying I love the attention!  June 30, 2026, 7:09 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Mully, the cat who would 100% be homecoming royalty for being nice to everyone. He is the full package. Mully is 2 1/2 years old, weighs just over 8 pounds, and is a total social butterfly. He currently lives with several other cats in our cat condos and does great with them. Mully is very outgoing, social, and friendly with new people and other cats, so he is always ready to make a new friend. As an adult cat, Mully comes with lots of perks: his personality is already known, he is past the wild kitten phase, and he is usually easier to settle into a new home and routine. Adult cats also tend to be more predictable in size, energy level, and behavior, which can make life easier for their new family. Mully is an easy, super loving companion who just wants to hang out and enjoy being part of the family. Mully came to BENCHS when his previous owners were moving, and now he is looking for a new home where he can keep spreading his good vibes. If you are looking for a confident, affectionate buddy who loves everyone, Mully might be your guy.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Miss Scarlett, a sweet girl with a bit of sass and a gentle, reserved nature. She can be a little shy at first and may take some time to feel comfortable in new surroundings. The shelter environment has her a bit guarded, but in a calm and patient home, she’s expected to relax and slowly show more of her personality. With time and trust, her affectionate side will come through. Miss Scarlett would do best in a peaceful home where she can settle in at her own pace. Once she feels safe, she has the potential to be a lovely, engaging companion with just the right touch of attitude.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Merrow is a confident, self possessed cat with a larger than life personality and a presence that is impossible to ignore. In fact, he has become a staff favorite here at BENCHS, winning hearts with his endless charm, confidence, and hilarious attitude. If you're looking for a cat with character, Merrow is your guy. Merrow came to BENCHS under difficult circumstances after being severely injured in an attack by another cat in his previous home. When he arrived, he was in rough shape and required extensive care and time to heal. Today, he has made a remarkable recovery and has recovered completely. His resilience and determination have been nothing short of incredible. Despite everything he has been through, Merrow approaches life with confidence, sass, and curiosity. He carries himself with an almost unbelievable level of self assurance and seems convinced that the entire shelter exists solely for his entertainment. He is highly interactive and loves being involved in whatever is happening around him. Whether he's supervising staff, greeting visitors, investigating your lunch, or making his opinions known, Merrow has a way of becoming the center of attention wherever he goes. One of the things that makes Merrow so special is how incredibly dog like he is. He doesn't just tolerate affection, he demands it. He is clingy in the very best way and wants to be wherever his people are. If you sit down, expect Merrow to appear. If you're standing nearby, don't be surprised if he launches himself into your arms for cuddles. He absolutely loves being held, snuggled, and doted on, and he makes it very clear when he thinks he deserves more attention. Merrow is also known for his love of food. In our shelter yearbook, he would easily win both "Class Clown" and "Most Likely to Start a Food Riot." He takes mealtime very seriously and approaches every meal with enthusiasm and determination. Food is one of his great passions in life, right alongside affection and comfortable places to nap. When he isn't seeking attention or planning his next snack, you'll often find him sprawled across a cozy bed. Merrow loves soft blankets, warm spots, and luxurious naps. He has mastered the art of relaxation and believes every good day should include plenty of cuddles and plenty of sleep. Merrow is also FIV positive. Cats with FIV can live long, happy, healthy lives with proper veterinary care and a loving home. Because of his FIV status, his history of being attacked by another cat, and his strong personality, Merrow is seeking a home where he can be the only cat. He truly thrives when he doesn't have to share his space, his people, or his food bowl with feline roommates. For his health and safety, Merrow must also be an indoor only cat. After everything he has been through, he deserves a life filled with soft beds, reliable meals, endless affection, and the security of a safe home. Simply put, Merrow is one of the coolest orange tomcats you'll ever meet. He is resilient, hilarious, affectionate, food motivated, endlessly entertaining, and overflowing with personality. For the person lucky enough to bring him home, Merrow will be more than just a pet. He will be your shadow, your cuddle buddy, your daily source of laughter, and a companion who fills your home with joy. If you're looking for a cat who will make you laugh every day, demand to be included in every activity, and love you with his whole heart, Merrow is waiting to meet you.
