Story
Callie is a sweet cat that loves to snuggle. She’s loving and will lay right up against you all night. She loves to be held and loved on, sitting on your lap to cuddle and to be near her person. She is very affectionate and is a cat that will be your best friend for life. I found her in Michigan in the middle of the road as a tiny kitten. Callie was born in 2015. Callie is completely blind. She was diagnosed with degenerative retinal disease. I have two dogs and three kids and I think Callie is very stressed with all the chaos and I want to find her a calm home where she is the only animal. A home where all of her needs (litter box, food and water) can be located in an easy place for her to access is ideal. I think an apartment or a single level house is perfect for Callie. Callie is up to date on all her vaccinations for the year and completely healthy. Callie will come with medical records, a lot of food, her bowls, crate carrier and litter box with extra litter.

Story
Hello Trixie (5/2023) a Calico mix, is ready for her furever home.  She started her life living on the streets but was caught for the best chance at a good life.  She is learning how to be a part of a family and that being picked up isn’t so bad.  She would love to be in a home with another cat or be adopted with another kitten so she can learn to be a pet. The suggested adoption donation for Trixie is $75, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $300,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Alter Agreement:  If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##1778577##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information.Zara is a 1.5 year old black and white kitty. Zara has an orange tabby sibling named Zeus, and they LOVE each other. If possible, we would love for them to be adopted into the same home. They do everything together: eat, sleep and play. They are litter box trained and use the scratching posts and cat trees. They are very  friendly with the other cats and dogs in the foster home, and like to play, sleep near them, and interact with them as much as they'll allow! They also love toys. All Toys! Anything they can bat around, that makes noise or that they can carry in their mouths. Their other favorite toy is a large empty box! Yup, in typical cat fashion, they love boxes too! Zara and Zeus are your typical kittens. Mischievous and very curious about everything, but also very sweet, love snuggles and purring with foster mom. Doesn’t take much to get them to purr. They also either take turns snuggling with her at night when she’s sleeping or sometimes both sleep on or near her. Both of them are very happy kittens who would make a great addition to a lucky home. Zara's adoption fee is $125, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age- appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.
