Story
Hello there! My name is Rocky and I'm a 2 year old sweetheart. I can be a little shy with new people, but I warm up really quickly. I'm a playful guy and I walk really well on the leash. I've previously lived in a home with older children. I'm a talkative guy who likes car rides and treats. Do I sound like your kinda man? Interested in adopting? Visit our shelter during open hours and ask about Rocky A063422 June 17, 2026, 3:55 pm

Story
Meet Thanos 🖤🐾 Intake date: 01/27/26 Thanos is a 4-year-old male Cane Corso who came to us as a stray in extremely emaciated condition. Despite his rough start, he’s been gaining weight steadily and is blossoming more each day 💪✨ It’s been amazing to watch him regain his strength and confidence. Thanos walks well on a leash and is VERY food motivated 🍖, which makes training both rewarding and effective. He already knows sit, down, shake, and speak 🐶👏 and truly enjoys working with his people. He appears to do well with neutered male and female dogs, though he has not been tested with cats at this time. Thanos does resource guard with food and can show barrier reactivity in a kennel or crate. Because of this, he will need an adult-only home with someone experienced and familiar with the Cane Corso breed who can provide structure, leadership, and continued training. With the right owner, Thanos will be an incredibly loyal, protective, and devoted companion ready to start his next chapter ❤️

Story
***Special Needs Dog*** Romeo is a stunning, sweet, goofy boy with luscious jowls and the most soulful eyes you've ever seen. True to his name, this boy is 100 percent pure LOVER. He loves to be snuggled and pet and he just melts hearts wherever he goes. Despite his young age, Romeo is a gentle boy with medium energy. He has tested well with small dogs, most big dogs, kids, and even ignores cats. He came to us quite underweight and still needs to gain some more - he should probably be around 115 or 120. Sadly, Romeo has a neurological condition that causes him to walk a bit like a drunk old man and fall down somewhat frequently. His prognosis is unclear. The neurologist at UC Davis believes the condition could be related to a rare infection (not contagious!), which we are treating, but there is no guarantee the medications will cure the issue, or that the issue won't return later. It will be a process of trial and error, and there is no way to predict how quickly his mobility will decline, or whether it will decline at all. Romeo is a happy happy boy though and to anyone who didn't know him, they would just think he's clumsy, but it can be emotionally challenging as his human to watch him fall down and then struggle sometimes to get back up. His condition is not life threatening, but it will need to be managed (no steep stairs or rough play for this boy) and, to give him the best quality of life, whoever adopts this boy should be prepared for follow-up neurology visits and possible diagnostics down the road, which will be costly. The illness is not deadly, but it will mean he will eventually not be able to walk or control his bowels - whether that is 6 months from now or 10 years from now is anyone's guess - which would likely mean euthanasia. Romeo is just such a joy to be around, and we think he's 100 percent worth every effort and every penny! (Note: HHR is covering all the costs of his treatment while a complete diagnosis and treatment plan is being developed, so right now we are looking for a dedicated foster or foster-to-adopt.) Romeo is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his vaccines. To meet him in person, please fill out an adoption application. If you are using Adopt-a-Pet, you may click on the "Apply Online" button. If you are visiting us on Petfinder or other websites, please copy & paste this link: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HHRC/Dog or apply directly on our website at househipporescue.org. We will get back to you within 72 hours. If you have general questions about that are not answered in the above bio, please email admin@househipporescue.org and we will be happy to answer them!

Story
Meet the beautiful Bella! This darling girl is a 16.4-pound, 3-month-old pup (DOB 03/04/26) with a beautiful white and silver/tan coat and lovely green eyes. She is a Mastiff/Pit Bull mix, ready for her forever family. As a young puppy, Bella will need guidance with additional house training and will benefit from leash training once she’s fully vaccinated. She’s already off to a great start—she’s been microchipped, dewormed, and flea treated, and is scheduled to be spayed. This sweet girl was born with one of her ears slightly deformed. If you’re ready to welcome the joyful pitter-patter of puppy feet into your home, where every day brings new discoveries, playful moments, and lots of cuddles. Bella is the perfect addition. Sweet, playful, and full of potential, this little girl is ready to grow up surrounded by love and become a cherished member of your family. Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4.
