Sully might be your guy.Sully is a 6 ish year old Mastiff, 135lbs ish, easy going and sweet as pie. He has one good eye, the 'good eye' had cherry eye repair on it but it may pop out again, otherwise he is doing great. Personality: Sully is a gem! He's the definition of a social butterfly- incredibly friendly and affectionate, just loves being right by his person's side.Things he loves: Car rides, little adventures, walks, just being part of your everyday life. He is very much a 'where are we going?' kind of dog.Potty trainedCrate trainedSully will go into a crate, but it definitely isn't his favorite place to be. He would much rather be hanging out with you.Other dogs: Sully is very social and friendly w/ other friendly dogs. He would likely do well with another chill, friendly dog who matches his easygoing energy.Cats: Sully currently lives well w/ a confident cat. With a proper intro he should do ok living with cats.Kids: Sully is a big guy! He can absolutely knock over small kids. Ideally best w/ older kids comfortable around giants.Quirks: Despite his size, Sully is pretty convinced he is lap-dog sized. He would happily spend his whole day following you around, leaning on you, and being your oversized drooly shadow.Ideal home: Sully would thrive with someone comfortable with giant breeds who understands the importance of keeping a big guy's joints safe and their maintenance and costs. He's already ramp trained for getting in and out of the car and would love someone who wants to bring him along rather than leave him behind. BOSA is still learning to walk on leash, and he does jump and pull, because he is just a puppy in a giant's body. He doesn't know "sit" yet but one volunteer discovered that if you gently rub the big guy from the back of his neck all the way down his back to his tailbone, he will sit for you, (almost) every time. BOSA will require an adopter with plenty of breed and training experience, because he's a sweet boy, but he's also a powerful breed. He needs a patient, confident, and active home that will dedicate time to positive-reinforcement training to help him channel his big puppy energy into becoming a well-mannered gentleman.Because BOSA is so new to the shelter, we will add more details as we get to know him better. German Shepherd / Cane Corso Mix Age: 1 yrs old Female, Spayed 65 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Stella was surrendered to the Oakland SPCA as a 3 month old puppy with her 3 litter mates. She was the runt of the litter and suffered from panosteitis (a condition affecting large breed puppies, known also as “growing pains”). Her littler mates were either adopted or pulled by other rescue groups. Eventually, Stella was adopted out multiple times and returned (for nothing that she actually did - the shelter just didn’t do a good job of screening potential applicants). She became very restless and stressed out basically growing up in shelter kennel. The shelter decided to euthanize her. We were contacted by someone who wanted to save her. Given her mix of German Shepherd and Cone Corso, and being bounced around to multiple homes and shelter before ever reaching the age of 1 years old. she has some challenges - some insecurities, leash reactivity, protectiveness, etc. She will need an adopter experienced with these behaviors. She is great with other dogs, easily trainable and is very loyal to her family. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. German Shepherd / Cane Corso Mix Age: 1 yrs old Female, Spayed 60 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Allie was found as a stray in the Sacramento area. While in the shelter she displayed some intermittent lameness on various limbs. Our vet diagnosed her with immune mediated polyarthritis (IMPA), which is the canine version of rheumatoid arthritis in humans. Similar to humans, Allie will be prone to periodic “flare-ups” which will need to be treated with anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs for mild flare-ups or corticosteroids for more intensive episodes). Given her mix of German Shepherd and Cone Corso, she will need an adopter experienced with leash/barrier reactivity and protectiveness . She is great with other dogs - loves to play, easily trainable and is very loyal and loving with her family.
