Story
Meet Betty! This 91lb, 1 ½ year old Cane Corso came to the shelter with another dog through no fault of her own. While it’s clear she once had a home, she’s now patiently waiting for a second chance at forever.According to her previous owner, Betty gets along well with other dogs and even cats. She has also done well with children, making her a wonderful candidate for a family looking to add a gentle companion to their home. Betty has a medium energy level — she enjoys playtime and outdoor adventures but is just as happy to relax and unwind with her people. This sweet girl can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her playful and affectionate personality truly shines. She loves to have fun and will happily soak up attention from those she trusts. Betty would do best with a family that understands she prefers to have her own space during mealtimes, as she doesn’t like other dogs around her food. With a little structure and understanding, she will thrive. We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@johnsoncounty.in.gov for an application. You can also find one on our website at http://johnsoncountyanimalshelter.com/adopt/. Once an application is submitted and approved, we can set an appointment to meet the pet!

Story
Harry is a big, lovable derpy dog who loves everyone he meets. Harry is about 85% potty trained and he’s 100% lapdog. He doesn't know how big he is, and wears his love on the outside. He is certainly a very happy dog if he has room to move. No fault of his own, Harry has been bounced around from home to home and did a couple tours of the city shelter when we stepped in and decided to give him a chance. Harry has had very little structure in his young life and he most likely missed the window of development when dogs learn to read other dogs. So, while he absolutely loves other dogs, he has no idea how to read body language. Because of this, Harry will need slow introductions and a tolerant dog friend to set him up for success when meeting other dogs. Harry has some separation anxiety and would do best in a home where he gets to go most places with his people or his people are home a lot. Harry also has no idea that he’s an 95 lb dog with more weight to put on. Because of Harry's large size and inability to read personal space, he would do better with a stronger person of stature. Harry thinks he is still a puppy and can easily be unpredictable with his joy. He's basically a lovable-wrecking ball in dog form. Harry has the stubbornness of a mastiff. If he doesn't want to do something he either plays "catch the mastiff" or "dead mastiff." Both can be frustrating, but also funny if you like that kind of thing. Most of what Harry is trying to avoid is being alone. You absolutely will not find a dog with a bigger heart than Harry. But I’m not gonna lie, he is A LOT. He’s got some baggage from being bounced around. He needs structure, patience, and time. And, of course, lots of love. Are you Harry’s person? Fill out an adoption application on our website, Sketchymuttsandunderdogs.org and we will set up a time to talk about him! *Adopters must live in Central Indiana, no more than 45 min from downtown Indy

Story
Frankie is a XL bundle of love and goofiness! He is 2 years old and 100lbs! Our best breed guess would be a corso or mastiff mix. He was found as an extremely underweight stray in Indy. He had eaten trash to survive—glass, nails, bones, wood and other debris. Now he is healthy, fully vetted and ready to find his family! He loves humans, especially those who play with him and give butt scratches. He’s a leaner, and a lay on top of you kind of guy, so he’d love a human who wants a 100lb warm weighted “blanket” to snuggle. He is dog selective, but not reactive. He does fairly well on walks but is working on loose leash walking in training! He does great at the vet, for car rides and in the bath (but he will need to wallow and rub off all the clean immediately after😆). He really just enjoys the small things like a new stuffy or having a day to lounge with his favorite humans! Frankie comes with professional positive reinforcement based training, a crate and forever love and support from his foster family!

Meeko is a Courtesy Listing and is not housed at the Animal Shelter. Please note that the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control accepts no responsibility for this pet. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian.Meeko is a 9 year old spayed female. Her owner died last year and we took her to try and find a home. She is very loveable. She is very good with people and seems to be ok with children. She does well with most animals. She was raised on a horse farm with her 8 year old brother and sister, unfortunately her sister Izzy passed shortly after her owner. She would do well inside or outside. Secured fencing is a must. She would have to be home with her brother Kane a great pyrenees. Meeko is about 90 lbs. Kane is around 110+.If you would like to inquire into adopting this pet, PLEASE TEXT 812-361-9788 OR EMAIL shanzboyzrule@yahoo.com***Please contact the owner directly***
