Story
Meet Big Luna, our gentle giant with a heart every bit as big as her paws. Don’t let her size fool you because this beautiful girl is convinced she is a lap dog and plans to spend her life proving it! Her favorite place in the world is curled up beside her humans on the couch, soaking up every bit of attention she can get.
Luna absolutely craves human interaction and loves being part of the family. She is a silly, goofy girl with lots of personality and plenty of love to give. She enjoys carrying toys around, dragging blankets from room to room, relaxing during downtime, and finding her own creative ways to stay entertained.
Luna is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic manners. She enjoys her quiet time and prefers to eat her meals alone in her extra extra large crate where she can relax and enjoy her food in peace.
Luna is very dog friendly and has lived in one of our busiest foster homes where she has been introduced to well over 100 dogs. She has successfully met dogs ranging from a tiny 6-pound Chihuahua all the way up to giant breeds, with all kinds of different personalities and temperaments. Because Luna is a large girl, she can sometimes come across as a little intimidating at first meeting, so proper introductions are important. She can happily live with another dog or do just as well being the center of attention as an only dog.
While Luna has done well around a parrot, she is not a fan of cats or smaller critters, so a home without cats or other small animals would be best.
Luna enjoys long walks and taking in the world around her. While in rescue, she tore an ACL and underwent surgery. During recovery, she unfortunately injured the opposite ACL, which healed through scar tissue development and strict activity restriction. She has recovered well and lives a happy life, but we do continue to manage her activity level. We do not encourage high impact running or excessive stair use, although she can do stairs when needed.
Luna has never been around very young children, so we are looking for a home with older children who understand and respect a dog her size.
If you are looking for a goofy, loving, oversized cuddle bug who believes personal space is optional and couch privileges are mandatory, Luna may just be your perfect match.
