She appears to be a purebred Cane Corso and is growing into a beautiful, intelligent, and confident girl. Candy Cane loves people and is happiest when she can be involved with her humans. She’s incredibly smart and already understands a surprising amount of human language. She’s playful, curious, and eager to learn, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys spending time training, playing, and building a bond with their dog. She’s also off to a fantastic start with her manners! Candy Cane is crate trained, almost completely house trained, and walks beautifully both on and off leash. For such a young puppy, she’s showing an amazing ability to learn and take direction. My father passed away in March, and after his passing, one of my good friends stepped up and took his dog in. I’ll forever be grateful that he gave him a safe and loving place during such a difficult time. Unfortunately, because of his job, my friend has to travel frequently and can no longer give him the time and care he deserves. I have a toddler at home, and with everything going on, I’m not in a position where I can safely and responsibly take him in myself. That breaks my heart because this dog means more to me than just being a pet—he is a piece of my father that is still here with us. He is a great dog, and I desperately want to find him a home where he will be loved, cared for, and treated like family. I’m not looking to simply give him away to anyone. Meet Hawk Moth! Hawk Moth came to us as a stray, and unfortunately is quite nervous in the chaotic shelter environment. Hawk is a typical teenage Cane Corso; he is unsure of strangers, but unwavering in his loyalty once he is comfortable with you! Hawk would do best in a home with Corso experience, but this is not a requirement. While he may take time to warm up to strangers, he is a total goofball with a heart of gold under the shy exterior. He enjoys surveiling his yard, playing fetch, and just enjoying the sunshine. Hawk has done okay with other dogs and cats in the shelter. He appears to be potty trained, and knows "sit".
