Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER : Meet Lapis. If that beautiful gray, brindled coat doesn’t grab you, just look at those mesmerizing blue/gray eyes!  HISTORY: Lapis, her mother and 9 brothers and sisters were owner surrenders. PERSONALITY : Playful, sassy, smart, independent (but loves attention).  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES : Playing with her toys and her canine friend, Birdie, eating, sleeping and ice cubes! This girl will come running at the sound of a refrigerator ice dispenser. MEDICAL ISSUES : At four weeks old, Lapis (the runt of the Gem litter) had to leave her brothers and sisters as her mother sat on her and broke her tibia (boy did Mom have a big butt!). The wonderful doctors at Partner Veterinary repaired her leg and now, Lapis is all healed up and ready to find her people. The doctors at Partner recommended that Lapis have a six- month follow-up appointment with a canine orthopedist for an evaluation, with x-rays, to ensure the proper growth and alignment of her leg.  WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME : Lapis would love a home with another playful pooch that would also help teach her all things “dog.” She would also do best in a home with adults and older, respectful children as well as someone that has breed experience. ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS / COMMENTS: Lapis will need to continue to work on her house training as well as work on what is and what is not appropriate to chew on (toys yes; ankles no). She is currently not a huge fan of the heat and will tell you when she thinks it’s time for her to go in so trips outside when it's hot should be short. Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. **Puppy Adoption Policy: To ensure proper house training and socialization, puppies will only be adopted to homes where an adult will not be away more than an hour per day, per month of age of the puppy, up to 6 months. Certain large-breed dogs should not be sterilized prior to 12 - 18 months of age. If you adopt an intact puppy, you will sign an adoption contract agreeing to have the dog sterilized at your expense at the time your veterinarian recommends. Proof of sterilization must be provided to Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue as soon as the procedure is completed. If the puppy is not sterilized as required, Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue reserves the right to claim legal ownership of the dog.  Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Daisy is a wrinkly 150-pound Neapolitan mastiff, a superstar pop singer looking for her forever bandmates. History: She came to MTM from Virginia Beach, VA.  She was purchased from a breeder and given to another family before being surrendered to MTM.  Likes:  Daisy's love language is physical touch.  Not necessarily to be pet, but she always has to know you’re nearby.  She will lie on your feet to be as close as she can.  She loves treats and will “talk” to you when she knows you’re about to give her one.  Dislikes:  She dislikes being alone for long periods of time and gets anxious. Personality: Sweet, loveable, playful, and easygoing.  Temperament: Gentle despite her size.  She is calm and intelligent.  Great on a leash and at the vet.  She takes meds with no issues and has no issue being handled. Energy level: She has low energy; sometimes may enjoy bursts of activity but is mostly laid-back and relaxed.  She enjoys walks but has no need for an intense exercise session. Favorite activities: Most definitely is laying on the floor as close as possible to her family.  Her ideal day consists of a movie marathon and simply being with her humans.  She does like other dogs, but her humans are #1.  She is also a beautiful singer and loves to serenade her family Challenges: Daisy wants to be closest to her humans, so if other Velcro dogs are in the house it could hurt some feelings.  She would do better with other dogs in the home that are not Velcro so she can get her love bucket overflowing.  She does have the potential for separation anxiety. Any Medical issues? Daisy recently had her double entropion surgery for her cherry eyes as well as TPLO surgery and is recovering nicely.  She still has some chronic skin issues so will need an owner who can give her a daily wipe down of her wrinkles.   What would be the best kind of home? Daisy would love a work-from-home parent.  She adores people, loves car rides, and would be a wonderful vacation companion.  A single-level home or limited access to stairs would be best for her.  She will also need an owner to keep her face, eyes, and wrinkles cleaned and able to bathe her once a week. Our rescue policy requires the following: Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt a giant breed dog to homes where the dog will have access to highly varnished hardwood steps inside the home. Any inside steps to which the dog(s) have access, must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Methods or devices using pain or force on the dog to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior is prohibited. Applications for giant breed dogs must be submitted by the property owner. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Veterinary records will be checked. All references must be checked before any visitation of the dog is permitted at the foster home. All family members must be present during the home visit to the applicant's home. Any dog(s) in the applicant's home must have an introductory meeting with the rescue dog being considered, before any adoption can be completed. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption. Exceptions to this policy can be found on the Adoptable Dog Page.
