Story
🐾 Fester – Cane Corso • Special Adoption Requirements Status: In training Location: Cincinnati, Ohio Breed: Cane Corso mix Age: Adult Adoption Fee: Includes required pre-adoption training sessions ⸻ About Fester Fester came to Cleo’s Legacy from a severely overcrowded shelter after surviving an extremely traumatic situation — including being shot. Despite everything he has endured, he is showing us every day that he wants to trust again. Because of his past, Fester is understandably fearful of men. His response to this fear is typically barking or growling, which are defensive behaviors and not uncommon for guardian breeds who have experienced trauma. He is currently in the very early stages of decompression and professional training, and we are still learning more about his full personality. At this time, we do not know how he is with cats. ⸻ What Fester Needs in an Adopter Because of his background and breed traits, Fester requires an adopter who is: • Experienced with large guardian breeds (Cane Corso, Mastiff-type breeds, etc.) • Willing to work closely with our trainer prior to adoption • Committed to ongoing structure, routine, and positive-reinforcement training • Patient, emotionally steady, and ready to help him heal at his pace His training is currently located in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in-person sessions with his trainer are required before adoption can be finalized. ⸻ About the Cane Corso Breed Cane Corsos are powerful, intelligent, and deeply sensitive guardian dogs. They thrive with adopters who understand: • Slow, thoughtful introductions and predictable structure • How to build trust with a fearful guardian breed • That their large, confident appearance often masks big emotions, especially after trauma • They bond intensely to their people and rely heavily on routine, consistency, and handler confidence • They require calm, balanced leadership — never force or intimidation • Early and continued training is essential for their long-term success When matched with the right person, Corsos can be unbelievably loyal, stable, loving, and devoted companions. ⸻ Why Fester Is Worth It Fester has survived more than any dog should, yet he is still trying. The right adopter will be someone who sees the dog behind the fear — a dog who wants stability, love, and guidance. If you’re someone who respects the breed, values training, and is ready to help a truly deserving dog heal, Fester could become one of the most meaningful companions you’ll ever have.

Story
Hercules was rescued by my brother, and I welcomed him into my home shortly after. Since then, he has been such a loving, loyal companion. He absolutely adores people and thrives on affection. He still believes he’s a lap dog and will happily curl up with you any chance he gets.Hercules would do best in a home where he can be the center of attention. He isn’t a good fit for a home with cats, and he can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs. He would thrive with a confident, dog-savvy owner who can continue guiding him and setting him up for success. For his health, Hercules is on a chicken-free diet due to skin sensitivities, and he’s been doing much better since making that change. This sweet, affectionate boy has so much love to give. I truly wish I could keep him, but I want him in a home where he can feel secure and where all pets are safe.

Story
Buffalo was returned at no fault of his own and is searching for a loving home to live out his senior years. He is a cane corso and weighs 117 pounds. Fully housebroken with zero accidents in his foster home and does well in the crate but doesn’t need it. He is a gentle giant and can be timid at first but not aggressive at all, just shy. Once he warms up he is so loving and sweet! Good with all, dogs, cats, and kids. His only quirk so far in his foster home is being afraid of the hard floors so we’ve been using yoga mats, and he doesn’t like stairs. At his age and size his hips are likely a bit sore so a home with no/minimal steps is ideal. Pictures don’t do him justice he is such a big beautiful boy! June 14, 2026, 2:37 pm
