Story
Meet Xhara! Xhara is a year old and initially came to us back in June of 2025 through a Humane Investigations Case through the City of Pittsburgh when she was just a puppy. Now, a year later, she is back to us after her owners were unable to keep her. Xhara is a very sweet girl once she gets to know you and is comfortable with you, and will often try to jump up excitedly on her friends. However, she can be a bit sensitive when meeting new people and can get a bit shy of handling from people she doesn't know. Xhara is a Cane Corso - and therefore we are asking adopters to have previous Cane Corso or guardian breed experience who know how to handle a pup of her size and strength - as she is very strong. She would do well in a home with only adults who will be able to respect and manage her signals, and respect her space and boundaries. She could potentially live with another dog pending a successful meet and greet. If you are interested in this special girl, please reach out to the Placement Team to learn more about her. Fill out an application -> thinkingoutsidethecage.org All of our animals are altered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines before being made available for adoption. WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🍬 Meet Candy Cane! Candy Cane is a 12-week-old female Cane Corso puppy with a big personality, a big heart, and an already impressive 32-pound frame! She appears to be a purebred Cane Corso and is growing into a beautiful, intelligent, and confident girl. Candy Cane loves people and is happiest when she can be involved with her humans. She’s incredibly smart and already understands a surprising amount of human language. She’s playful, curious, and eager to learn, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys spending time training, playing, and building a bond with their dog. She’s also off to a fantastic start with her manners! Candy Cane is crate trained, almost completely house trained, and walks beautifully both on and off leash. For such a young puppy, she’s showing an amazing ability to learn and take direction. Because she’s an energetic, playful puppy, Candy Cane would love a home where she has another friendly, playful dog to romp around with, or an active human who enjoys playing and keeping a young dog mentally and physically engaged. Candy Cane is looking for someone who will continue guiding her as she grows into the wonderful adult dog she’s clearly destined to become. She has the intelligence, affection, and personality to be an incredible lifelong companion. If you’re looking for a smart, loving, playful puppy who wants to be your best friend, Candy Cane may be your girl! 🍬🐾❤️

Story
Meet Nola — your future best friend and full-time ray of sunshine! At just 9 months old and around 45 lbs, Nola is a happy, playful mixed-breed pup who is finally getting her chance to just be a puppy. And trust me—she's making up for lost time in the best way possible. Nola's journey hasn't been easy. She came into rescue with a serious injury that required not one, but two orthopedic surgeries (a femoral head osteotomy and fracture repair). She spent four long months healing, resting, and patiently waiting for her moment to run and play again. And now? She's back on her feet and ready to live life to the fullest. This girl is pure joy. She loves her people deeply and greets the world with a wagging tail and an eager heart. Whether its going for walks, playing with her dog friends, or learning new things (she's very smart and food-motivated!), Nola throws herself into everything with enthusiasm. The best part? She gets along beautifully with dogs—making her a wonderful fit for so many types of homes. However, she does need to be in a home without cats and kids. She's doing great with going potty outside and is picking up on routines quickly. With a little continued guidance, she's going to grow into an incredible companion. Because of her past injuries, Nola may develop some arthritis in her leg as she gets older. Its something to be aware of, but it certainly doesn't slow her down right now—she's active, happy, and loving every minute of her second chance. Nola is looking for a family who will cherish her, play with her, and give her all the love she missed out on early in life. In return, shell give you loyalty, laughter, and a whole lot of tail wags. If you're ready for a resilient, joyful pup who will remind you every day how sweet life can be—Nola is your girl! Apply today at: https://airtable.com/shrAznkHf1ruIqQwq

Story
Meet Girlfriend — A Loyal Guardian Looking for Her Person Girlfriend is a stunning 1.5-year-old Cane Corso mix, weighing in at around 100 pounds of strength, beauty, and devotion. With her gorgeous brindle coat and soulful eyes, she turns heads — but it’s her loyalty and heart that truly make her special. Girlfriend came to us from local animal control and has already overcome a lot, including undergoing double cherry eye surgery while in our care. She’s now healthy, feeling great, and ready for her next chapter. She can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but give her a little time and you’ll quickly see her affectionate side shine through. Once she trusts you, Girlfriend is incredibly loving — she’ll happily cover you in kisses, lean her full weight into you for scratches, and soak up all the belly rubs you’re willing to give. She forms strong bonds and is the definition of a loyal companion. Girlfriend's a smart cookie. She knows commands like “sit,” “laydown,” and “paw,” and she's super food-motivated — makes training a breeze. But what she really loves is strolling around with her humans. Yep, this girl’s got style: she walks wonderfully on a harness and is always up for an adventure. She is a very strong girl and will need someone physically capable of handling her size and power. She doesn’t always realize just how big she is, so continued training and structure will be important to help her succeed. She would do best in a home with no cats and should be considered dog selective. A home without children is also required to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort. About the Breed: Cane Corsos are intelligent, powerful working dogs bred for protection and loyalty. They are not a beginner breed. They thrive with confident, experienced owners who understand the importance of leadership, structure, and consistent training. Without proper guidance, their size and instincts can become overwhelming — but in the right hands, they are incredibly devoted, obedient, and loving companions. Girlfriend is looking for a breed-experienced owner who understands large guardian breeds and is committed to providing: —Consistent training and boundaries —Proper socialization —Physical and mental stimulation —A structured, stable home environment She is currently getting the hang of housetraining and will continue to improve with routine and patience. Girlfriend has so much love to give to the right person. She’s not the dog for everyone — but for someone experienced and committed, she will be an incredibly rewarding companion who will stand by your side through everything. If you’re ready for a loyal, protective, and deeply loving best friend, Girlfriend is waiting for you. Adoption application can be found here-https://airtable.com/shrAznkHf1ruIqQwq
