Story
Hello! I’m Blue and here’s a little about meInstagram: bigbluebearthecorsoName: Blue Breed: Cane CorsoColor: Tan with white underbelly Age: 2 years, 2 months ( roughly )Sex: Male ( intact )Weight: 84 lbs ( very underweight )My owner unfortunately my owner has abandoned me and isn’t coming back. As you can see in the pictures and in the description, I am very underweight because of him. I prefer raw or cooked human food over kibble. I don’t get along with other animals but I can if I am trained and socialized properly with someone who is well experienced with my breed. Currently I am now comfortable with my current caretaker dog and play along with them well including occasional rough housing and playing fetch. It took a week of consistency. I am house trained as long as I am given a chance to use the bathroom before you go to work and can be left alone for 8 to 10 hours at a time without having an accident. Contact for more information!

Story
Hello, I’m Aggie! I’m in search of my forever home. I like to bark when I see dogs but when properly introduced, I get along with dogs, even the ankle biters. I’m incredibly sweet and affectionate. While I may not fully grasp my size, I know how to show you love with plenty of kisses, drool, and face licks! When I greet people, I tend to jump up to get a better look at them. I’m working on it, but sometimes I forget. I take treats very gently. Car rides are my favorite—I’ll even buckle up! I might pull a bit on the leash when we first head out, but I improve as we continue our walk. I’m not sure about cats at this time, and I prefer a home with kids aged 12 and older. Previous experience with Cane Corsos or guardian breeds is required. Only homeowners with fenced yards will be considered. To apply, visit http://www.almosthomeri.org. It is important to know that Aggie and her sister, Emma, were confiscated from a Providence auto repair shop. They were purchased as puppies and lived in junk cars on the property until Providence Animal Control liberated them.

Story
Meet Emma, who is ready to find her forever couch! She adores her toys, especially the squeaky ones, and will happily chase a ball (though she might not always bring it back!). Emma is incredibly smart and food-motivated. She's also house-trained and crate-trained, making her the perfect addition to any family. Emma is a true people-person and is great with all humans. She's on the lookout for a home where she can be the center of attention and doesn't want to share her space with other pets. But that just means more love for you! When she's not playing, Emma takes her role as your protector very seriously, always keeping an eye out for any potential dangers. And when her duties are done, she loves nothing more than snoozing the day away on the couch. If you're looking for a faithful and fun-loving friend, Emma could be the one for you. Kids 12 and up only. Previous experience with Cane Corsos or guardian breeds is required. Only homeowners with fenced yards will be considered. To apply, visit http://www.almosthomeri.org. It is important to know that Aggie and her sister, Emma, were confiscated from a Providence auto repair shop. Story
We like big dogs and we cannot lie, but BB's size is only ONE of the many things there is to love about her. This beautiful girl has a heart as wonderful as her looks. *Please note: BB is currently living in a foster home and can be met by appointment only. To schedule a time to meet her, please email HeartofRIAdoption@gmail.com or call (401) 467-3670.* BB is a 2 year old, large, mixed breed that has been waiting WAY too long for someone to choose her. She is easygoing, affectionate, and happiest when she is spending time with her favorite people. She is the definition of a go with the flow companion. Whether she is leaning in for pets, soaking up attention, or simply relaxing nearby, BB has a way of making every moment feel a little sweeter. She's really like excited to be included. If you are looking for a loyal friend who will gladly keep you company, offer endless affection, and become a beloved member of the family, BB is ready to fill that role. Tuesday: 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Wednesday: 3:00 PM 7:00 PM, and Saturday: 10:00 AM 2:00 PM Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or place an animal on hold. Our team reviews applications carefully to help make the best possible match for both the adopter and the animal. What to Bring With You For an application to be considered complete, we must have all required documents. Please bring or email the following: - Proof of homeownership This may include a tax form, deed, mortgage statement, or similar documentation.ORLandlord approval If you rent, we need a copy of your lease clearly stating that you are allowed to have the type of pet you are applying for, or written and signed consent from your landlord. - Up to date veterinary records, if you currently have pets. Vet records should show proof of current vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery for animals already living in your home. You may bring hard copies with you during adoption hours or email them to HeartofRIAdoption@gmail.com Requirements to Adopt from EGAPL Heart of RI To adopt from us: - You must be a Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont or Maine resident. We are unable to adopt to residents living in Massachusetts due to policies in that state. - You must be at least 21 years old. - Everyone living in the home must be aware of and involved in the adoption. All household members must meet our team before an application can be approved. They do not all need to come in at the same time. - Any current dogs in the home must complete an onsite meet and greet with the dog you are hoping to adopt. - Current pets in the home must be up to date on veterinary care and spayed or neutered. Once veterinary records have been reviewed, our team will schedule an onsite meet and greet with the dog you are hoping to adopt and any current dog or dogs in your home. We want to help make sure the match is safe, appropriate, and successful. Please do not bring your dog with you when you first apply. Our team will contact you to schedule a meet and greet if your application is moving forward. Helpful Reminders There is no set timeline for how long it takes to process an application. Our team does their best to review applications as quickly as possible. We kindly ask that you do not send duplicate emails asking for updates, as this can slow down the process. We do not do same day adoptions. Submitting an application does not mean you are approved to adopt a specific animal. We are looking for the best match for each animal based on their needs, personality, age, energy level, medical history, and the home environment. Adoption Fees Adoption fees help us continue to provide lifesaving care to animals in need. EGAPL Heart of RI is a nonprofit animal rescue and does not receive state or federal funding. The cost of veterinary care, food, supplies, staffing, transport, medications, and daily shelter operations has increased significantly. While adoption fees do not cover the full cost of caring for each animal, they help offset a portion of the medical care, housing, and support each pet receives before going home. Every adoption also helps make room for the next animal who needs safety, care, and a fresh start. DOGS Puppies under 1 year: $675 Adult dogs 1 year and older: $575 Dog adoptions include, as age appropriate: Spay or neuter surgery Rabies vaccine Distemper/parvo vaccines given while in our care, based on the dogs age and vaccine schedule Leptospirosis vaccine started while in our care, when age-appropriate Bordetella vaccineInitial deworming Heartworm testing, when age appropriate Microchip Flea and tick prevention or treatment while in our care Basic medical evaluation and care while at EGAPL Adoption counseling and take home guidance Please bring a leash and collar with you at the time of adoption, or ask our team what size is best for your new dog. CATS Kittens under 1 year: $425 Adult cats 1 year and older: $325 Cat and kitten adoptions include, as age appropriate: Spay or neuter surgery Rabies vaccine FVRCP/distemper vaccines given while in our care, based on the cat or kittens age and vaccine scheduleInitial deworming FeLV/FIV testing, when age appropriate Microchip Flea treatment or prevention while in our care Basic medical evaluation and care while at EGAPL Adoption counseling and take home guidance Please bring a secure cat carrier with you at the time of adoption. A Note About Puppy and Kitten Vaccines Puppies and kittens require a series of vaccines as they grow. We provide as many age appropriate distemper vaccines as possible while they are in our care, but young animals may still need additional boosters after adoption.Your adoption counselor will review your pets vaccine record with you so you know exactly what has been done and what may still be needed with your veterinarian. A Note About Leptospirosis Vaccines for Dogs We start dogs and puppies on the leptospirosis vaccine when age appropriate. Because some dogs are adopted before the booster is due, the full lepto series may not be completed before adoption. Your adoption counselor will review your dog's vaccine record with you and let you know whether a booster is still needed with your veterinarian. After Adoption Veterinary Care We recommend setting up an appointment with your veterinarian shortly after adoption. This helps your new pet establish care, allows your veterinarian to review their medical and vaccine history, and ensures they stay on track for any boosters or follow up care they may need. Flea and tick prevention, as well as heart worm prevention for dogs, are typically prescription products. Your veterinarian can help choose the safest and most appropriate preventatives for your pet based on their age, weight, medical history, and lifestyle. Why Adoption Fees Matter Every animal who comes through our doors receives individualized care. Some arrive healthy and simply need vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, and a safe place to land. Others need emergency care, diagnostics, treatment for parasites or infections, dental care, behavior support, special food, foster care, or weeks to months of daily shelter care before they are ready for adoption.Your adoption fee helps support that full circle of care. It helps the pet you are bringing home, and it helps the next animal who needs us. Thank you for choosing adoption and for supporting the lifesaving work of EGAPL Heart of RI.

Story
***SPONSORED ADOPTION FEE***Meet Bane!If you're in the market for a big dopey goofball, Bane is your guy.Bane is a 6yo cane corso and he weighs about 97lbs. He is, essentially, a small horse. For the most part, he is very aware of his size which is a good thing because it prevents the whole "bull in a china shop" thing from happening. He is a little guilty of being pully when he's on a leash, especially when he first gets outside, but once his initial excitement wears off, he's much better about prancing along at your side and listening to corrections. Bane is a 100% certified good boy. He knows lots of cues (and he gives kisses on demand, like, come on, he's perfect), he's obsessed with cars and car rides, and he's good with people. While he comes across stoic and serious at first, he's all about the play bows and treating everything like it's a game. Don't let his age fool you because he is NOT a lazy old man. He's still got plenty of energy for long walks and games of fetch and tossing around plush toys. He's done well with other dogs while he's been here but doesn't seem to really care about them one way or another. He's much more interested in passing cars or his handlers. We're looking for a home without cats and with kids 12+ with a family who has breed, or similar breed, experience.Since he is a "restricted breed", you must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.

Story
Meet Topaz! A sweet and cuddly companion with a playful and goofy side. She's a bit shy at first but give her time, and she'll show her loyal heart. Topaz thrives as the only pet, ideal for a home without small animals due to her high prey drive. Due to her cautious nature, Topaz would do best as the only dog in the home, unless adopted with her friend, Sapphire. She prefers slow introductions to new friends and environments, and would benefit from an experienced adopter who can help her learn her manners. Topaz will fill her forever home with joy and laughter, making every day brighter. If you're looking for a devoted friend to share in life's adventures, Topaz is the perfect match. If you are interested in Topaz, please call us here at (401)846-8276. You are welcome to stop by our Animal Care and Adoption Center here in Middletown, RI to meet with her at any time. Feel free to visit our website, www.potterleague.org, for more information on adopting from us.
