Story
Fernie is a fun little gal who spent two months in a foster home- here’s what we learned:- She is very quiet and mellow- She’s a couch potato who loves affection- She loves sleeping on the couch- She is housetrained and great on car rides- She is food motivated and knows basic commands like sit - She was described by her foster as an excellent houseguest During another brief foster stay Fernie was a quiet houseguest who was friendly with people and loved getting belly rubs.Fernie is also a field trip favorite- a favorite buddy for members of the community to pick up and take out on the town! She’s been described by some of her friends as loving, patient, joyful, easygoing, cuddly and affectionate.“Fernie is an amazing dog that was very go-with-the-flow on our trip today. She was curious, non-reactive to other dogs and stimuli, food motivated, and quick to relax in the car. She loves all the pets.”“Fernie has the best temperament and loves to cuddle. She loves walks and toys. Fernie is very smart and knows the way to your heart.”Here’s what one volunteer at the shelter said:“Fernie is a friendly sweet little girl. She was easy to leash up in her kennel and walk over to the play yard. Once in the yard she explored for a little bit and then came over to me for love and treats. She climbed up into my lap and gave me a couple kisses before returning to explore the yard. She’s a nice balance of independent and people oriented. She would alternately explore the yard and then come over to me for snuggles. She has the most stinking adorable face!!”Fernie shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been social and playful when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit and may prefer a home without young kiddos. Ask to meet Fernie today!

Cookies is a sweet, sensitive girl who was found as stray with her two pups in tow. Her finder described her as shy but a very loving mama to her babies. Now, Cookies is looking to be babied herself, in a forever home of her very own! Here’s what some of her friends at the shelter have said:“Cookies is timid, but she leashed up easily and walked very well. She let me pet her but was a bit unsure about it. She did take treats from my hand and came over for more. She needs more time with people to feel safe -she is very sweet.”“Cookies is a sweet little girl. She was a little head shy with the leash but she was easy to handle exiting and re-entering kennel. Despite being nervous, she was easy to walk and eager for treats!”Cookies shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been tolerant and independent when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit and is looking for a home without small pets.If you can help a sweet, shy pup to feel safe and loved, please ask to meet Cookies today!!

Story
There have been many songs written about and entitled, “The Good Life.” From the 1988 song by Inner City, which included the lyrics, “Love is shining/ Life is thriving/ In the good life,” to the 2017 song by G-Eazy and Kehlani; “We put the good in the good in the good life/ We put the bad in the past, now we alright.” In 2019 One Republic famously sang, “This could really be a good life, good life/ I say oh, got this feeling that you can`t fight/ Like this city is on fire tonight/ This could really be a good life/ A good, good life.”With everything written about the “good life,” our sweetie Shelby can`t wait to experience it for herself! Saved from a bad situation by an APS officer, she needs a soft place to land. She’s a senior at ten years old and hopes to get into her own comfy bed with two square meals, walks and cuddles, and love to last her through every day of her golden years. Shelter volunteers admire this brave senior gal, sharing:“This brave gal has been through more than any dog should ever have to endure and she needs and deserves someone kind and gentle who will give her time to develop confidence and blossom. She would be perfect in a calm retirement-type of home where she can enjoy her golden years in softness and comfort and get the chance to be someone’s pampered companion.”“I walked Shelby for the first time this morning. Overall, she was easy to walk. She walked at a nice, even pace without any pulling, and she enjoyed smelling everything in the park.”Shelby shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has kept to herself when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Shelby shares One Republic’s sentiment, “`Cause hopelessly the hope is we have so much to feel good about.” Can you give a deserving pup so much to feel good about in a safe home? If so, come and meet her today!

Story
Meet Belquees AKA Bella! This sweet two-year-old girl has been settling beautifully into her foster home after raising her four puppies, who have all been adopted. Bella was found with her little ones and brought to PACC, and now she’s learning how wonderful life in a loving home can be. She’s housetrained, uses a doggy door, and has been doing great with her foster family’s 9-year-old husky and three young grandchildren (ages 1, 4, and 5). Bella is gentle and patient with kids—she enjoys being petted and hugged and has shown no signs of aggression.Bella’s personality is blossoming every day. She loves her daily walks—two a day!—and while she’s still mastering her leash skills, she’s come a long way. Bella enjoys toys (especially stuffed ones, though they don’t always survive her playtime) and loves being part of the household activity. Her activity level is moderate: she’s happy to play outside or nap quietly beside her dog buddy. She hasn’t been around cats, but she gets along well with other dogs and is content either with canine friends or as the only pup soaking up attention. What Bella wants most is love and belonging. She’s learning that being close to people is a good thing—she’ll gently lick your hand and follow you from room to room just to be near you. With her affectionate, loyal nature and easygoing temperament, Bella would make a wonderful addition to almost any family. She’s ready to share her heart and settle into her forever home with someone who will include her in family life and show her the love she’s been waiting for.
