Meet Marie! This girl is always down for adventure (unfortunately, without her people)! This girl has gotten lose 4 different times from adopters and fosters and has trekked from North County to South County of San Diego prior to landing with us. With the proper adopter, this girl is aiming to please, does great with dogs and is devoted to her inner circle of people. Due to her ability to escape, she can NEVER be left unattended (crated when you are gone or can't keep an eye on her) and walked on a double leash. We know this doesn’t make her sound like the most appealing dog in the world, but we promise you, once you meet her, the extra safety measures won't seem that bad.  She wants nothing more than to please and be with her people.  Her escape tendencies come from years living at large in the desert and protecting her pups.  She can jump (impressively), climb, leverage, dig, you name it.  Loud noises and the unexpected scare her.  She has blossomed from being aloof to approaching every new person looking for food and love.  She is loyal, loving, kind and forgiving.  She is solid with dogs and balanced with a neutral mate.  She loves to explore the world on leash and just hang out if that is preferred.  It's been a year in the making but she is more than ready to graduate to her future home.  She needs a forever that will keep her safe no matter what and she'll love your forever in return. Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  NO offleash activities in unfenced areas for life. Jackie came in originally because she had been ran over by a car and needed a safe place to heal for a few months while her leg and hip were mending. When a dog comes in in her condition they go on bed rest where they can just focus on catching up on sleep, a soft bed, and plenty of food. Within a month we noticed she was starting to get a little on the heavier side so we put her on a diet. But we quickly realize that she was getting larger and it was nothing to do with how much food she was eating. She was pregnant! The accident must have happened shortly after she conceived. But in these situations because of all the trauma and surgeries that she had been through the puppies with more than likely be still born. But she was so far along already there was nothing we can do but watch and wait. In the middle of the night she gave birth to six perfectly healthy babies! She weaned them at only one month and decided she was done dealing with them a few weeks later. She was not cut out to be a mom but rather wanted to live her life freely and with no responsibilities. So we put her in a group of other like-minded dogs and she flourished! She loves playing and investigating everything! She is very intelligent and absolutely adores snuggles!
