Story
Adopt Halo — the handsome, heavenly pup who’s ready to glow up your life! At just 2 years old and 43 lbs, Halo is the perfect blend of gentle sweetness and puppyish charm. His past wasn’t easy — he likely didn’t get enough food or freedom in his former home — but those days are long behind him. Since joining his amazing foster family in March 2024, Halo has been blossoming into the bright, loving companion he was always meant to be. Let’s talk about his looks for a second. Halo’s ice-blue eyes will stop you in your tracks, and his adorable perky ears make him look like he jumped straight out of a storybook. He’s a shy guy at first, but once he feels safe? Get ready for a total lovebug. He’s snuggly, social, silly, and eager to learn — he already knows “sit” and “lay down” for treats! Halo’s favorite things include: Lounging outside like a little sun-powered angel Easy, happy leash walks Making new dog friends Being near his people Chewing on enrichment toys that help him settle and relax He’s crate-trained, impeccably house-trained, great with other dogs, and would do well with dog-savvy kids 15+ who understand he needs a gentle approach as he continues building confidence. No cats for Halo, please. After everything he’s been through, Halo deserves nothing less than a home filled with patience, kindness, and love… plus a steady supply of treats, of course! Halo is fully vetted, microchipped, neutered, and SO ready for his happily-ever-after. Are you the one who will help this sweet boy shine? If you can open your heart & home to dear, deserving Halo, please contact AmsterDog by call/text at 917-689-8414 or by email at info@amsterdog.org. Apply to adopt Halo at AmsterDog.org. Halo is currently being fostered in southern NJ. Transportation provided for approved adopters. Thanks for caring about a pet in need!

Story
Charlie came into a SC High Kill Shelter as a stray with no owner found. She walks well on a leash and is dog-friendly. She is more outgoing with other dogs and is very sweet and calm outside of her kennel. She deserves a real life with a forever family that will love her and take care of her properly. We can do a foster to adopt program for Charlie if you are willing to give her a chance at a forever home with time to decompress from the noisy, stressful shelter and fit in with your family. We are working to save as many dogs from southern shelters and place them into loving homes. These shelters are high kill shelters and these dogs are urgently in need of an adopter to save their lives. These are good dogs that had crappy owners who dumped them or just turned them out and the dogs were picked up as stray and taken to the county shelters, left unclaimed. The county shelters fill up quickly and they euthanize (kill) simply because they run out of space for dogs to be. We offer adoptions for any dog we post. We can provide videos, pictures, answer as many questions as we can on the dog for you, etc. We can even do video chat with the dogs (these must be scheduled) if time allows. If you want to adopt but are unsure of a dog because you haven’t met him or her….we offer a adoption foster period program. This is where you adopt the dog and agree to a certain time period trial – usually 2-4 weeks (depending on when transport is running from here to there) to let the dog decompress in a normal home setting and settle in and make sure it’s a good fit for you and the dog. If it isn’t a good fit, we can pick the dog back up when our transport returns to your location but you have to agree to keep the dog safe during the time he/she is with you until we are able to pick the dog up. The adoption fee is non-refundable BUT if the dog is not a good fit for you or you’re not a good fit for it and it’s returned, we do allow you to pick another dog to adopt and transfer the fee to that dog (we will only do this one time), this is not a rotation puppy game. We have been doing rescue for many years (the Director has been doing this for over 30 years). We are pretty good at matching a dog to a person, family, etc. Be honest with us at what you are looking for, what matters to you and what will work best for you and we will be honest with you if you’re interested in a dog that’s not going to work for you. Our adoption fees include all up to date vetting (vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, and any other medical needed by the dog while in the ownership of the rescue). It will also include the transportation to your area (not to your house, you might have to drive a little to pickup the dog depending on where transport stops to meet up with people). Let’s partner together to save a dog and find you your next fur-family member. Her days are numbered at the shelter and with no foster or adopter to help us give her a chance, we can't save her.

Story
Meet Tater! This adorable 3-year-old, 36 lb Terrier mix (and mystery man — perfect candidate for a DNA test!) is as lovable as they come. Tater is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly — always up for a walk, a run, or a good squeaky toy session, and then ready to curl up next to you for some serious snuggle time. Tater is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows how to “sit.” He’s great with kids and loves meeting new people — honestly, he just loves everyone. He’s got an energetic side that makes him a great adventure buddy, but once he’s had his fun, he’s happy to relax on the couch with his person. He’s not a big barker and travels well, but he’s not the biggest fan of vacuums, loud TV sounds, or baths (who can blame him?). On walks, he can tug a bit because he’s so excited to explore, but he’s eager to please and easy to redirect. Tater’s personality shines in everything he does — full of joy, affection, and tail wags. If you’re looking for a cheerful, loyal companion to bring love and laughter into your life, Tater’s your guy!
