Story
Sugar was 99% spice and 1% sugar when she and her sister Reese first came to me. She was so spicy and determined to have no interaction with humans. She growled, hissed and bolted into hiding when any sound or movement was made. Little miss spicy just didn’t realize that I knew her type and had plenty of patience to wait her out. It took a while, along with lots of treats and hours of trust building, but Sugar is now 90% sugar and only 10% spice!! The 10% spice is only visible when something new or unexpected happens. She even lets me pick her up, put her in my lap or snuggle her close to my chest now. Huge, huge progress this amazing girl has made!!! Sugar adores her sister Reese and has learned to love her other foster siblings. She plays like there is no tomorrow and is an absolute joy to watch. She does not like loud noises and it takes time for her to adjust to any change. However, as long as she has a soft blanket that she can nuzzle herself completely under to hide from the “scary” stuff, she will be fine if you just let her adjust at her own pace. Sugar needs to be in a home with another cat she can play with but ideally, it would be wonderful if she and her sister Reese stayed together. HSTC only charges an additional $25.00 adoption fee when adopting a second kitten - which is a huge incentive to adopt two at one time for only $100.00. Sugar has a tremendous capacity to love, she just needs the confidence her sister or another kitty her age provides and a very loving, patient human that will let her bloom at her own pace.  You can submit an adoption application for Sugar  at http://www.myhstc.org/cats. Please email hstcpurrs@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on Sugar. ##2287964##

Story
This is Aretha, a 1-2 year old short haired tabby kitty with gorgeous green eyes.  She appeared at a nice gentleman's business out of the blue one day -we do not know if she was lost or her owner abandoned her there.  She is very healthy and well taken care of and well socialized, she is also already spayed.  She did not have a collar on her, no identification and no micro chip.  The gentleman searched for an owner and posted signs but no one came to claim her.  He was unable to keep her and asked if we would take her in.  Aretha is laid back and calm -she would be great for someone looking for a cat just to "hang out" with them - we could see her being some one's hang and watch TV kitty.  She seems to be fine with other cats.  She is a little hestitant with dogs but with time and a proper introduction, she will be fine.  Gentle children would also be fine.  She is up to date with shots, spayed, FeLV/FIV negative and litterbox trained.  If you would like to adopt Aretha, please visit our website at www.myhstc.org and submit an adoption application. Adoption fee is $75 and includes all veterinary care We prescreen all applicants prior to a meeting.  To be screen, please complete an adoption application at www.myhstc.org We do allow out of state adoptions.  However, we do not ship nor transport sight unseen pets for many reasons.  We do require travel in person adoption. ##2576267##

Story
This boy is a treasure. Charlie is so sweet and loving. Mix in a big dose of mischief, a huge helping of play and you have the perfect cat. He loves romping around with his foster brothers and sisters, cuddling with you while you sit or sleep and he is super dedicated to all things edible. He loves, loves, loves to eat! Speaking of that - Charlie is a CHONK!  He has no clue that he is a big boy though. His struggles with spatial awareness are very real - he is constantly rolling himself off of surfaces - much to his shock. :) He is so entertaining!  Charlie has never been around children, nor dogs. With his outgoing personality, he would most likely be fine with both. You can submit an adoption application for Charlie at http://www.myhstc.org/cats. Please email hstcpurrs@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on Charlie. ##1751524##

Story
COURTESY LISTING  Please help us help this family rehome their sweet cat Maverick!!! No Adoption Fee for perfect home!!  We rescued Maverick in February of 2021 when he was a few weeks old after being found behind Bruster’s (smart kitty). He is a sweet and loving cat. He tends to sleep the day away from the noise of the house and loves to sleep in front of a window with the sun shining in. He sleeps in the laundry room at night, so he is used to being “put to bed.”  Maverick's front paws are declawed, so he will need to remain an inside kitty only. He lives in a home with 2 dogs and 2 feral children. He is accustomed to noise, but I gather he’d be satisfied with a quieter home LOL. He loves the kids, our big dog and is getting used to our new puppy. We will miss him tremendously, but I run a home bakery now and we have decided it’s necessary to rehome him to a loving family who will take good care of him. Once he warms up to you, he is such a sweet, calm cat.  You can submit an adoption application for Maverick at http://www.myhstc.org/cats. Please email hstcpurrs@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on Maverick. ##2590158##

Story
Sweet Paige is currently my most independent, non-needy, behaved foster. She is absolutely precious! She doesn’t demand or fight for attention, she just calmly waits until she can ease into place beside me. She will then purr loudly while I pet her, make biscuits, curl up and go to sleep. Paige makes biscuits unlike many other cats - she gets her legs in on the action and almost marches while making hers. It’s a little bit comical but I don’t laugh at her because she’s a quiet girl and more timid than some of her foster siblings. She’s not timid when she plays though - she plays with passion and can tackle her foster brothers like a linebacker.  Paige was found on a tarp at about 4-5 weeks old - the tarp was torn and somehow one of her front legs had gotten caught. Apparently, in her efforts to get free from the tarp, she got it wrapped around her upper leg so tightly that she had a pretty bad open wound and her circulation was compromised. No one is really sure how it happened, we can only make guesses based on her condition when she was brought in to the vets office. The people who brought her in did not want her and thought the vet could just euthanize her to end her suffering. Thankfully, the vet saw some spark in this little girls eyes that said “I’m just getting started in this world and I’m a fighter”. So the vet and staff got to work - they got her free from all the tarp she’d got herself tangled in, got her wound cleaned up and treated, put her on some iv antibiotics and hopes for the best. After she made it through the first 24 hours, they kept the wound clean, kept the antibiotics going, encouraged her to eat and showered her with love. I was able to bring her home to foster a couple of weeks later. She loved the vet that decided to try and save her but she was still timid and cautious of other humans. It took Paige a few weeks before she was comfortable with me and then another couple of weeks to decide that instigating contact brought lots of joy and comfort to her. I am extremely grateful to the awesome vet who decided in a matter of seconds, that that sickly, wounded, mad, tiny ball of fur was worth trying to save. All little Paige needed was a chance!  Paige has never been around children or dogs. She has come so far in her journey and I feel like she can adjust to any situation with love and patience. However, I think it would be best for her to be in a quieter, calm environment to begin with. Loud, excited, busy homes are not going to be ideal for Paige. I thinks she could adjust to any dog that is typically laid back and doesn’t bark a lot. The main factor in any new home is always the patience, love and understanding of the human in charge.  You can submit an adoption application for Paige at http://www.myhstc.org/cats. Please email hstcpurrs@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on Paige. ##1559119##

Story
Summer is like velcro! She is so loving and sweet that she just sticks to you. Her purrs are incredibly calming! She is still 110 percent young kitty and wildly playful. She loves her foster brothers and sisters and holds her own very well when they are all causing group chaos.  Summer is not one to accept outsiders quickly - she’s a little hissy and judgmental with newcomers at first. She’s just cautious and wants to take her time to grant approval. Can we all just say: FEMALE!!! Summer has never been around children nor dogs but considering her personality, she should be fine with both as long as introductions are handled appropriately and with patience. You can submit an adoption application for Summer at http://www.myhstc.org/cats. Please email hstcpurrs@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on Summer. ##2287956##
