Jack is a 3-year-old male domestic shorthair available for adoption at CCHS! Jack would prefer to be the only pet in his new home. He can be a bit shy and skittish, so it may take him some time to get used to new people and environments. He is a really sweet, calm boy who loves head scratches! Jack's fosterer had much to say about him. Enjoy!: I believe that a loving and patient parent will be key for Jack. He also needs a calm space, with few sound disturbances, windows looking out to nature, and nooks under furniture/dark comfy spaces that he can nap in during the day. He has very expressive biscuits and he makes a perfect loaf. When you pet him, he pushes himself around on the ground with his paws, almost like he’s pulling guard in an MMA fight. He has a very faint, precious, little meow. If you hear it, he likely wants you to sit down on the bed or on the floor with him for pets or to just be near him. He’s very forgiving. I gave him medicine for a few days and he barely resisted and didn’t run away when it was over. I also accidentally stepped on his paw once and he didn’t run away but waited for me to apologize with pets only seconds later. He spends a lot of time under the bed and/or couch during the day, but he was always accessible for pets and would welcome them even if it meant he was woken up. He loves sitting at a window during late afternoon into the evening. Jack takes a minute to warm up to people. He likes the safety of being under furniture when meeting someone for the first time. I recommend giving him treats and being patient with him. He can be coaxed out from his hiding space with the treats and then you can pet him. He loves all pets, especially his head, ears, and chin. He loves plush balls, not so much to chase, but to sit on top of and kick with his back legs (it’s adorable and so very weird). He loves string (just make sure he doesn’t eat it). He goes wild for cat TV. Jack is an incredible little man. We watched him every day overcome fears and be the bravest, silliest boy. He has a deep sadness in his eyes BUT DON’T LET THAT FOOL YOU he is a lovebug who craves attention and loves to play. Do not be discouraged by his behavior in the shelter either, he just needs a second chance to really come in to his own. Come meet this sweet boy at CCHS!
