Hello, my name is Sesame! I’m a former mommy who’s ready to be the baby of your family! In May of 2025, on the first 80 degree day in Frankenmuth, somebody dumped me outside Pet Angel in a teeny tiny cage. Next to the cage, they left a rubber maid tote fully closed with my 6 6-week old kittens inside it. When the volunteers showed up for the evening shift, they found us, and quickly brought us inside to safety. Pet Angel named me Sesame, and my 6 babies after Sesame Street Characters (Grover, Elmo, Rocco, Bert, Ernie & Snuffy!) We went off to foster care, where we were safe and sound while I raised and weaned my babies, and we came back to Pet Angel when they were big enough to be without 24 hour care. I was told I was such a good mommy, and I loved being with my kittens. I weaned them, so Pet Angel separated me so my milk could dry up and I could get fixed. I recovered from my spay, got my stitches removed, and got all my shots and an FIV/FELV test done, and now I live in a free roam room with other kitties my age! My sons are getting ready to go up for adoption, but I’m ready to find my own forever home where I can be the baby of the house! I love to play with toys. I zoom around the room after springs and crinkle balls! But when I finally tucker out, I love to test out all the beds to find the softest one to lay on. I am a medium haired cat, so I’m not fully fluffy, but I’m also not fully sleek. My tail however is fluffier than the rest of my body. I’ve been told I am VERY soft when you pet me! I am a big fan of cat treats and wet food, I enjoy wrestling with my roommates Cornelius and Thumbelina, and I like to be inside hidey holes and cat tunnels! I’m on the smaller side for an adult cat, so when humans come directly at me, I get a little freaked out and scurry away. But once you get down at my level, and I realize you’re not coming at me to hurt me, I warm up to you! I love belly rubs, and I like to be brushed! I do have a small health condition, and I am hoping that this does not scare away any potential owners, but helps me find the best family who will give me all the care I may need in my life. In the end of July 2025, one of my kittens Snuffy suddenly passed away. One day he was sick, so Pet Angel took him immediately into the vet, and the next day he was gone. At first, The vet thought the symptoms looked like pneumonia. This prompted Pet Angel to take the rest of my kittens into the vet to be checked out. Upon further investigation of my kittens, our vet discovered that my kittens had enlarged hearts and the vet was concerned about a heart condition called HCM. In September of 2025, my remaining 5 kittens and I went into the vet to get ultrasounds done of our hearts to check to see if we had HCM. This test revealed two things: I do not have HCM, but I do have an enlarged heart. So, what does this mean? This means I am at risk for developing HCM later in my life. My future family will need to take me to the vet every 6 months to have the vet check my heart and ensure its still functioning properly. If for some reason my heart seems different at one of these vet checks, my family would need to have the vet do a second heart ultrasound to see if I have developed HCM. In the case that I do, I would need to go on HCM medication. However, as of right now, this is not something I need. The only requirement I need right now is a vet check up every 6 months. My future family just needs to understand that in the future, I may need some additional medical attention. I am almost 2 years old (My birthday is November of 2023) and I am hoping to have a indoor-only home full of love, toys, and adoration. I dedicated months of my life to raising my sons, and now I’m ready to be adored by my own family and be their baby. I understand that an enlarged heart and potential heart condition later down the road may be a reason potential adopters don’t consider me. However, to be fair, any cat you adopt could have a heart condtion that went undetected. Pet Angel has taken extra steps in fundraising the money to do the heart tests for me to ensure that you- my hopeful future owners- are aware of this condition so you can give me the care I require to give me a long lasting, healthy life. Please don’t let my enlarged heart be a factor in why you don’t consider me, but instead know that my enlarged heart just means I have more of a heart to love you with. I am fixed, microchipped, up to date on all my shots, and am negative for FIV/FELV. I get along with other cats great, and I would get along with kids of all ages too! I have not been tested one-on-one with a dog, but my former foster had a dog and when I did see him I wasn’t afraid, so I would most likely get along with a dog with a proper and slow introduction. I need a strictly indoor only home, and due to my heart condition I am not a cat who should travel, so I’m hoping to find a family that will keep me home, outside when I go to the vet. Meet Cornelius, affectionately nicknamed “Cornie”! This BIG, handsome white and gray boy may be a little shy, but underneath that quiet exterior is an absolute sweetheart who LOVES other cats.Cornelius was transferred to Pet Angel from Bay County Animal Control as a kitten. All of his littermates had been adopted, and Cornelius was not doing well as a single kitten. He became increasingly recluse without other cats around, so he came to Pet Angel to join Thumbelina, who he grew up with.Cornelius LOVED Thumbelina from the moment he met her. He practically LEAPT out of his cage, wrapped his paws around her neck, and immediately started giving her kisses! The two grew up together and were once inseparable, but as they`ve gotten older, they`ve become more independent and are no longer a bonded pair.While Cornelius no longer needs Thumbelina specifically, he absolutely DOES need other cats in his future home. In fact, other cats are one of the most important things in the world to Cornie. He LOVES cuddling with his cat roommates, curling up beside them, and spending time with his feline friends. He is happiest when he has other cats around him.Cornelius is a very shy boy, especially when meeting someone new. He needs time to warm up and would not do well being thrown into a busy, active household. He is looking for a quiet, peaceful home where he can take things at his own pace.Cornie does not enjoy being held or picked up, but once he trusts you, he absolutely loves being pet — on HIS terms, of course! He is the kind of cat who may need you to earn his trust rather than expecting him to immediately come running for attention. He needs an owner who is okay with a cat that doesn`t want to be held or picked up, and will respect that. Cornelius also does not do well with traveling. He will need a human who will brave Cornie`s nerves for vet visits so he can always be healthy, but other than vet visits will keep him at home and won`t travel with him.And then there is the WORMIE STICK.Cornelius is a FREAK for his wormie stick toy. Seriously. Put a wormie stick toy in front of this shy boy and suddenly you get to see a completely different Cornelius! He LOVES chasing it, playing with it, and showing off his playful side. You HAVE to keep the stick toy away unless you`re able to watch him with it because he WILL drag it off and try to eat it. He is violently addicted to the wormie stick toy!He is also obsessed with hidey holes and absolutely LOVES his circle tunnel. If there is a cozy little place to hide, Cornie will find it. His ideal home would have plenty of cozy spaces where he can retreat when he needs some quiet time, along with lots of opportunities for play.Cornelius is a VERY big boy with a very soft heart. He isn`t going to be the cat who immediately jumps into your lap, but for the person willing to give him the time and space he needs, he has so much love to give.Cornelius needs a strictly indoor-only, quiet home with other cats. He cannot be the only cat in the home. Hello, my name is Bert! I am a kitten with quite the backstory who is looking for the purrfect home to make my happily ever after and will care for me all the rest of my days! I was born with an enlarged heart, and I tested positive for a heart condition called HCM. We were just 6-week old, and the tote didn’t even have air holes in it!!! When the volunteers showed up for the evening shift, they found us, and quickly brought us inside to safety. Pet Angel named our mommy Sesame, and me and my brothers were all named after Sesame Street Characters (I’m Bert, but my brothers names are Elmo, Rocco, Grover, Ernie & Snuffy!) We went off to foster care, where we were safe and sound while our mommy weaned raised and weaned us, and we came back to Pet Angel when we were big enough to be without 24 hour care. I am a CUTIE! I am sleek boy with long legs and a long nose! I love to play with toys, carry around pom pom balls, and chew on show laces. I enjoy wrestling my roommates (especially my counterpart, Bert) and clinging to your shoulder when you pick me up! My foster mama used to let me sleep in the hood of her hoodie, so now I love cat hammocks because they’re kind of like a sweatshirt hood. I sleep in the hammock with my belly up! I am outgoing, and want to be around people! I am playful, with both toys, roommates, and people (and shoes- boy, do I love shoes!) and I’m the purrfect kitty- you will just love me! I’m adorable, friendly, sweet, playful and so much fun! I do have a health condition, and I am hoping that this does not scare away any potential owners, but helps me find the best family who will give me all the care I may need in my life. It happened so fast, and all of the staff and volunteers at Pet Angel were absolutely devastated. At first, The vet thought Snuffy’s symptoms looked like pneumonia. This prompted Pet Angel to take my brothers and I into the vet to be checked out. Upon further investigation our vet discovered that our brother didn’t pass from Pneumonia, and that my mommy Sesame, along with all 5 of her biological kittens (me included) have enlarged hearts. At this point, the vet was concerned about a heart condition called HCM. In September of 2025, my mom Sesame, myself, and all of my brothers I went into the vet to get ultrasounds done of our hearts to check to see if we had HCM. My test revealed two things: I not only have an enlarged heart, but I tested positive for HCM. My brother Ernie also tested positive for HCM.So, what is HCM? HCM stands for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. HCM is a heart condition where the heart muscle thickens, making it harder for the heart to pump blood effectively. While there`s no cure, it can be managed with medication. Currently, I am too young to go on the medication, but when I get older I will need to go on the medication. It is a pill that I would get once a week, and it would help my heart pump effectively. Longterm, I will need a combination between the medication, and to have check-ups with a vet every six months to monitor my heart health. With proper care, I can still live a happy and fulfilling life! I understand that an enlarged heart and heart condition may be reason potential adopters don’t consider me. However, to be fair, any cat you adopt could have a heart condition that goes undetected prior to you adopting them. Pet Angel has taken extra steps by fundraising the money to do the heart tests for me prior to posting me up for adoption to ensure that you- my hopeful future owners- are aware of this condition so you can give me the care I require to give me a long lasting, healthy life. In fact, they held off putting us up for adoption to do all of these medical tests to help set us and our future families up for success, so my future family knows exactly how to care for me. Meet Thumbelina, affectionately nicknamed “Thumbie”! This beautiful torbie girl is a polydactyl, meaning she has extra toes on all four of her feet — which is exactly how she earned her adorable name! She truly looks like she has thumbs on her front feet, and what better name than Thumbelina for a girl with thumbs!Thumbelina came to Pet Angel as our first kitten of the season in 2024 after she was thrown from a car. She had road rash on her face when she arrived, but thankfully, that is all ancient history now! When Thumbelina was about 6 months old, she also decided that her spay stitches were something she needed to play with and ended up ripping them out, resulting in an infection and a longer stay in isolation... but that was back in 2024 and is ancient history now! These days, she is a happy, healthy, VERY outgoing girl who has left all of that behind her!Thumbie is one of the most outgoing cats at the rescue. She absolutely LOVES people and is quite the little talker! She will happily chat with you, ask for attention, and purr up a storm while you`re giving her pets. If you`re looking for a cat who will actually have conversations with you, Thumbelina may be your girl!She also LOVES being up high. She enjoys climbing, perching, and finding the perfect elevated spot where she can supervise everything happening around her. She actually prefers to be up high! Hello! My name is Sable, and I’m looking for a gentle, loving human to call my very own. I first appeared in Pet Angel’s President Nancy’s yard in early 2025 as a stray. At first, I wasn’t very friendly, but when they started leaving food for me, I decided I’d stick around. The Engel family began calling me Sable, and over time, I made their shed my new home. I started out sleeping on a tarp, but eventually, a cozy cat bed appeared.For months, I cautiously enjoyed the routine—eating the food they left me, observing them from a distance, and napping in my bed. Gradually, I let them get closer and closer. One summer day, I walked right over to Nancy’s husband Jim while he was outside, flopped down, and asked for a belly rub. That was the moment I realized I actually liked them, and we became fast friends.During my time outdoors, I loved exploring, climbing trees, and hunting birds, mice, and chipmunks—leaving little “gifts” for the family. I even ventured into Jim’s mom’s house one day to explore, but I wasn’t ready to live indoors yet. As the weather turned cold, I moved into the garage, where they set me up with a space heater and heated bed. Unfortunately, a possum discovered my cozy spot, so it was time to make the move indoors for good, and that’s how I came to Pet Angel.Once I arrived, I got fully vetted, and I’m healthy, bug-free, fixed, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccinations. I tested negative for FIV and FELV. I do have one rib that healed oddly from a previous injury, but it doesn’t bother me at all—though you can feel it if you rub my belly.I’m a sweetheart with a gentle, loving nature. I love rubbing against your legs, rolling over for belly rubs, and making biscuits all the time. I purr constantly, and when I’m really happy, I even drool—it’s my ultimate sign of contentment! I love my heated bed and my couch-shaped bed, and I enjoy lounging in sunny spots, watching the world go by, or napping in a cozy corner. I’m playful at times, especially with catnip toys, but I’m also calm, gentle, and affectionate.I’m strictly an indoor-only cat and do not like dogs. While I used to prefer being a solo cat, I now do well with gentle, laid-back cats who aren’t interested in wrestling, as long as proper introductions are made. I would also do well in a home with children over the age of ten who understand my gentle, calm nature. This is Barbie! Due to an injury in her past, She currently has a handicap and am on the hunt for a family who can accommodate her handicap and allow her to live life to its fullest!Barbie LOOOOVES to talk, and always has something to say to her human friends! She enjoys getting pets more than anything else in this world, and ALWAYS wants you to pet her- and never stop! She loves catnip toys (yeowww bananas are her favorite) and love to bat at stick toys! She love to adventure around, even with her limp! She is a biiiiig fan of wet food and cat treats! She enjoys her fluffy cat beds, and loves to lay inside hidey holes! She enjoy being brushed, and loves to sit on your lap! But watch out, once she’s in your lap, you’re not allowed to get up! She will yell at you if you try!Barbie arrived to Pet Angel in August of 2023 with a broken hind leg from Genessee County Animal Control. They asked Pet Angel to take her because when She arrived to them with a broken leg, their vet believed she would need that leg amputated and GCAC believed Pet Angel would be more equipped to helping her go through leg amputation surgery. Upon arrival to Pet Angel, she went directly to Pet Angel’s vet, who was able to save her leg! Which means, she didn’t have to have it amputated! Instead, she had her leg put into a cast where it had to be completely straight as it healed, and was in that cast for a month! But she got to keep her leg, and that made the hassle of the cast all worth it! After the cast was removed from her leg, Barbie went through Physical Therapy at the vet to begin to use that leg again. At first, she didn’t put any weight on the once-broken-leg at all, but with time, she began using it again! And that’s where her handicap comes in.Right now, Barbie still limps, but does not allow it to limit her life! She jumps up high all the time- and we worry about her when she jumps down! As time goes on and her leg begins to heal, the limp may go away as she regains muscle in the leg. But also, there is a chance that she may have a permanent limp for the rest of her life. So, she is hoping to find a owner who will accept a cat with a limp, and will provide pet staircases in the home so she can still look out windows, lay on the couch, and sleep in bed with you!Barbie does not like other animals, and is looking for a home where she will be the only animal. Due to her handicap, she needs a home with either no children, or children over the age of 12. She is not a normal kitty, as she requires extra care permanently due to her limp. This extra care does not require medication or additional vet visits, just an investment into some pet staircase, a few accommodations made throughout the home, and understanding and compassion by her forever humans.
