Story
This kitten has just arrived! They have come to us on transport from a shelter partner, were found as stray, or surrendered to our care. When kittens arrive to us we are typically unsure of their full background, litter box habits, how they are with handling, or how much socialization with humans/animals they have received. Kittens require a significant amount of patience and training to learn how to behave properly in a home. The first few months of having a kitten is a critical time to improve socialization and help your kitten become confident. Exposing your kitten to all kinds of touch, sounds, people, and animals can ensure a well-socialized adult cat. Remember, kittens aren’t born knowing how to live in a human’s world, it is up to you to teach them how to make good decisions in a positive and caring manner. The more positive interactions they have in their first year of life will set them up for better behavior in the future. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
Meet Power Power is our just over two year old short-haired sweetheart! She recently came to HAP when her previous owners could no longer take care of her. Having lived in a home the last few years, Power's still been adjusting to shelter life. However, she's been living in our free roaming cat room and while she prefers keeping to herself, she's been fine living amongst the other felines! Power is shy at first but with a little time and patience, her cuddly, affectionate side comes out. She likes to scurry around the room checking out all the best hiding spots and nooks and crannies before finding a nice spot to curl up in and take an afternoon nap. She isn't the biggest fan of being picked up or belly rubs but once she trusts you, she'll happily seek out ear scratches or rub along your side for loving! Power has lived with older children and other cats before so would do well in any home that will give this sweet girl time to adjust to a new home. Stop by today if you're looking for a shy but sweet cat looking for a furever home! If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals.
