Meet Ultra! 🖤🤍 Hello there, my name is Ultra! I’m a beautiful 7½-year-old black and white kitty here at Heartland, hoping my forever family will come find me soon. I used to live over at the Budweiser plant, which is how I got my name (Budweiser Ultra) . I hung out in the shop and got to know all the customers and staff. Also kept the mouse population down for them. Then things changed at the plant and everybody was leaving - so I went home with one of the guys that worked there, but I was not too fond of his other animals. It was such a change for me. So here I am at HHS. I’m a friendly girl, though I can be a little shy when meeting new people. Give me a little time to get to know you, and once I realize you’re a friend, I’ll happily warm up and show you my sweet side. I do well with kids, but I haven’t met other cats or dogs yet, so I’m not quite sure how I’d feel about other furry roommates. Slow introductions would probably be best if you already have pets at home. I love being close to the people I care about, and some of my favorite things include playing with toys and getting brushed—it’s the perfect way to relax together! I’m also litter box trained, so I’m ready to settle right into a loving home. If you’re looking for a gorgeous companion to share your days with love and affection, I’d love to meet you. Come visit me in person at Heartland!

Meet Karl & Chester! 🧡 Hi friends! We’re Karl and Chester, two bonded 8-year-old brothers hanging out at Heartland while we wait for our forever home. As a pair of handsome orange tabbies, we come as a package deal—and double the love! We’re friendly boys, though we can be a little shy when meeting new people. Give us a little time to get to know you, and once we realize you’re a friend, we’ll happily warm up and enjoy your company. We are both front declawed, which means we are strictly indoor cats. We love being around the people we care about and absolutely adore attention and affection. When we’re not soaking up love, we keep ourselves entertained playing with toys. We’re also litter box trained, so we’re ready to settle right into a loving home. Full disclosure—Karl here is a big guy, weighing in at 24 pounds, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying life! My brother Chester is a little smaller at 14 pounds, but just as charming. The good news? We get along well with children and can peacefully coexist with other cats and dogs, making us a great fit for many homes. If you’re looking for two sweet, handsome companions to brighten your home, look no further. Come meet us in person—we can’t wait to meet you!

Story
I am tiny, but I am mighty! My name is Mercedes and I am ready for my forever home. You may notice when you meet me that I am missing a few toes on my left front paw. It is a birth defect, however it does not stop me one bit. I am still a little small for my age but I eat like a champion. My foster home said I am sweetest girl ever. I was very curious about the dog and the cat that lived there. I snuggled up to watch TV and enjoyed exploring around. If you think you are ready for a petite little girl in your home come see me. I promise I'll win your heart the minute you see me.

Incoming Call… It’s for You! Please hold while we connect you to your new best friend… ring ring! Meet Telephone Call — or TC to his friends. This handsome dilute orange gentleman is about 1.5 years old, weighs in at a solid 14.6 pounds, and is fully neutered and medically up to date. In other words, he’s ready to dial straight into his forever home. We have a bit of a poor phone connection when it comes to TC’s history with other housemates. Because of that, we’re unsure how he’d do with children or dogs. If you have either in the home, we recommend a slow introduction — like putting someone on speakerphone before committing to the whole conversation. With a little patience and the right signal, he may connect just fine! Telephone is extremely friendly and operates on an unlimited talk-and-snuggle plan. If you’re looking for a cat who will happily answer every call for attention, TC is your guy. Whether it’s greeting you when you walk in the door, supervising your daily activities, or just hanging out nearby, he’s always available and ready to connect. His soft dilute orange coat and big lovable personality make him impossible to ignore — kind of like that one friend who calls just to chat… except this Call is even sweeter and never asks you about your car’s extended warranty. So if your home has been feeling a little too quiet lately, it might be time to pick up the receiver. Telephone Call is ready to make a lifelong connection. No voicemail required — just come meet TC and answer the call! Meet and greet/adoption appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! DON'T FORGET! Cats often do better with a friend! All our cats and kittens have an "Adopt one and the 2nd at half the adoption fee!" bonus!!! Our kitten/cat adoption fees vary on age, ($25-125 +TAX) special needs, lonely heart status (cats that have been with us 6+ months), and for our senior to seniors program. Our adoption fees include the following: all of our cats/kittens are current on vaccinations (FVRCP series and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, tested for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), treated for fleas/ticks/earmites in addition to being spayed or neutered once the cat reaches 2 lbs in weight. All cats and kittens adopted from the shelter are microchipped. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Because we are on a busy street, we require that all cats leaving the shelter be in a carrier. All pets are up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee is paid.
