Story
Birdie is a stunningly beautiful girl!! She fell on hard times when her family had significant health issues so she was left to fend for herself. She came to the Ark very frightened and needing lots of special TLC. In the short time she has been at the Ark she has blossomed into an incredibly smart, playful and affectionate girl! She is tall (just above knee high) and has the most beautiful prancing gait as she runs! (and yes, she does have one brown eye and one blue eye!!) She does really well with cats and is very friendly with other dogs. Birdie is a Catahoula Heeler, which means she has strong working dog traits and needs to be in a home where she can be active, have a 'job' and get lots of exercise. If you are interested in adopting Birdie, please click the link and submit an adoption application! ** Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. We do require a secure fenced-in yard to adopt our larger dogs.

Story
🐾 Meet Atlas – Our Longest-Waiting Adventurer 🐾 Atlas is a 4-year-old Catahoula mix who has been in the rescue program for almost 4 years, and we truly don’t understand how this incredible dog is still waiting for his forever home. Atlas is great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends. He is cat-friendly, but he can be a bit much for them since he always wants to play—so he’d do best in a cat-free home or one with a very tolerant, confident cat. This guy is active, athletic, and always ready for an adventure. Walks, outings, and staying busy are his jam, so he’ll need an active family who can keep up with his enthusiasm for life. Atlas does have some separation anxiety, but it is very manageable and continues to improve with routine and structure. And here’s the really cool part—Atlas has competed in THREE OneWorld Canine Biathlons and absolutely crushed it, even placing 2nd in one of his races! 🏅 This dog has both brains and brawn. 📍 Fostered in Huntsville, AL 🐶 Good with dogs 🐱 Cats with conditions 🏃 Adventure-ready & athletic Atlas has waited long enough. He’s loyal, driven, and ready to be someone’s best adventure buddy. If you’re looking for a dog who will truly be your partner in life, Atlas is your guy. 👉 Apply to adopt at www.forrescue.net Rescue: Friends of Rescue 💙

Story
Please contact Glenda (fairydogmother@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Darcy is a one year old low rider/herding breed mix.  Her red and white smooth coat has some merle markings and her eyes are blue and brown, which is a color pattern of a catahoula.  Darcy weighs 25 pounds and she is a beautiful girl.  Darcy has been in rescue waiting for the money to come in to spay her so she could be posted for adoption.  She is now healed from her spay surgery, vaccinated, heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm and flea preventives.  Darcy transferred from the rescue that actually saved her life.  She is friendly, playful and does well with other dogs.  I do not know how she is with cats and will ere on the side of caution and say no cats or to at least use caution when introducing her to cats.   good with cats.  Darcy is ready for her forever home.  The adoption fee is a tax deductible donation to the rescue in the amount of $500 and is required to pay vet bills and feed rescue dogs. January 31, 2026, 4:33 pm

Story
We’re looking to lovingly rehome our dog due to an incompatibility with other animals in our home. She is excellent with children, very well trained, affectionate, and thrives with people. She does best as the only pet, as she is animal-reactive and does not get along with other animals. This is not something we want to change or “work through” — she deserves a home where she can relax and be the only focus. She would be a wonderful companion for a family or individual who wants a loyal, trained dog and does not have other pets. A small rehoming fee will apply to ensure a responsible match. Please message with a bit about your home and experience with dogs.

Story
Sweet little Fresca was a stray and no one ever reclaimed her so we took her into rescue. She is so very skinny, sweet and very docile. She's in boarding and needs a Foster. She would do well anywhere, more than likely, as long as she was loved, cared for treated as a family member. She kept a clean kennel at the shelter, they said. Those eyes just called to me when she was on stray hold and I promised her I'd be back so I kept that promise to her. I really want to find her a foster, but more than that, I want to find her a truly loving and forever home. They all deserve that, but dogs like Fresca REALLY do. **Apply to Foster or Adopt or Foster to Adopt online atMadisonARF.org**She is fully vetted, (will need her stitches out around the 16th of February), on heartworm prevention, heartworm negative, microchipped, the whole nine yards. Her adoption fee is $200
