Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. UPDATE: Both Ivy & Jasper were adopted together but their mum died. Their previous father works 9 hours a day & wanted to find a new home for them & we were working on finding them a loving home. But he decided immediately he was going to give them away for free to anyone off Craigslist to take them. This happened not once but twice. They are both now safe in our care in a loving foster home with other dogs. They are now very overweight & are on a clean diet of raw proteins, grains, fruits, vegetables & supplements. Apple pie was renamed Jasper. The call was put out for the need from several commercial breeders who needed some of their dogs gone, at a cost of course in the middle of Omaha. Of course they always want money for the dogs & of course once we know about them we are not leaving them & do what we have to do to help them. These innocent souls lives was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. They were one of the very lucky ones. On this day we rescued a total of 24 lives including Ivy & her siblings. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Ivy how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home just as they are in their foster home. Ivy, her siblings & her friends were bought back to the WA state where she is now is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. Ivy is the biggest sweetheart you will ever meet. She is an absolute doll. She is full of life love & energy & is up for any adventure that comes her way. She is extremely sweet but is very loving & a very cuddly little lady. We know she adores being picked up & held & carried around to see what is going on. She adores being kissed & hugged & is good with an outfit. She is still a baby & can get into puppy mischief. But she is a normal typical puppy. Ivy & her brother were adopted together but returned for not being potty trained & barking when the neighbors would walk past the home. We still have not heard her bark at all & she has been a sheer joy with us & nothing but a fun spirited girl. Ivy & Apple Pie are very quick learners listen when you teach them. The reality is, the foster homes are her real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding she can snuggle up in, a roof over her head that’s not outside. Ivy is a wonderful eater & is not shy about eating & has not been since the day we got her & rescued her. She adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something she did not get to experience ever until she was rescued. She currently sleeps with some of the other babies we rescued along with her. We have tested her in a daycare environment with countless other dogs & she does well. She is such a fun puppy who just wants to be loved & to make up for her past. She loves everyone & is so very sweet. She plays with her rescue puppy friends who we rescued with her but then can do her own thing. She is wonderful with being bathed & groomed & good with the hairdryer. She would still need to be taught to walk on a harness & leash. She is a puppy & we have not taken her out anywhere. She still needs to learn her puppy manners. Ivy rides in the car well & considering the only times we know of was when she went to be sold & when we got her & going home & to & from the vets with us. But she does absolutely amazing in the car. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. Ivy as you can imagine spent the first part of his life in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Ivy where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly she can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them. Ivy is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her & never give up on her. Ivy has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & she is currently with other dogs & adores other dogs. She absolutely must go to a forever home with a dog or dog’s present in the home for her to thrive in. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take her to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard. Ivy is roughly 23 lbs & she is roughly 2 years old & ‭a Cavachon possibly‬. She has put on weight since being in the rescue. What she is mixed with we are not sure, female, she was spayed by laser, she is microchipped, up to date on her shots, including DHLPP, bordatella, rabies & dewormed. Once these shot expire we do not redo them. Ivy arrived back into the rescue with a cherry eye. Ivy will get her cherry eye taken care of prior to her adoption. We have spent far more on Ivy with paying for her from a commercial breeder. Bringing her to WA with her travel costs, her transportation to WA. All of her medical care in WA & Omaha etc & bringing her to WA then her adoption fee comes close to covering. Ivy has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have had her around small children & she has done amazing but we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Ivy was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is. As with all of our rescues & Ivy’s friends & siblings she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Ivy potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Ivy & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Ivy who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for the special sweet little Ivy. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Ivy has an adoption fee of $850 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.

🌼Meet Yeonu— Once Abandoned, Now Happy, Hopeful, and Ready for a Forever Family! Here are more photos and videos of Yeonu: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTHefmckcPj/?igsh=amdoajdkdTM0ZWJh Yeonu was abandoned this winter in a village in Icheon, Korea. After someone reported him, he was taken to a shelter and placed on the euthanasia list. Fortunately, he was rescued and is currently being cared for by his foster family. However, his time there will be for a short time, as they are unable to foster him for too long. He would love to come to the Seattle area to meet his forever family! Name: Yeonu Breed:Bichon Frise Estimated Age: 4 years Gender: Male Weight: 20 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes Energy Level: 3–4 Yeonu loves plushie toys and enjoys playing fetch when toys with them. Otherwise, he is generally calm and relaxed. On walks, he does not show excessive or reactive behavior. At dog parks, he does not run wildly or rush other dogs. Instead, he greets politely and calmly explores the environment on his own. Good with dogs? Yes, Yeonu gets along well with most dogs. He greets dogs he meets on walks with a wagging tail. At dog parks, he sniffs and says hello politely but does not actively engage in rough or energetic play. He seems to have a more introverted personality. Good with cats? Unknown. Good with kids? Gentle children Sociability with people: Friendly with everyone When Yeonu first arrived at his foster home, he approached each family member sitting in the living room one by one to greet them. He may bark briefly at unfamiliar sounds outside or if someone suddenly appears wearing dark clothing, but he calms down quickly. He approaches strangers happily and wags his tail. Potty trained? Yes. Both on wee wee pads and outdoors. Leash manners: Yes. He may pull a little at the start while sniffing and marking, but it’s easy to manage. After a short time, he usually matches his handler’s pace and walks calmly. Barking: He may bark briefly at unfamiliar sounds but stops quickly when reassured. Separation anxiety: Yes. Yeonu has difficulty being completely alone and may bark or howl when left by himself. If at least one person is home, he does well, though he may whine briefly when his primary caregiver leaves and then settles. Mouthiness/nipping: No aggressive behavior. He loves plushy toys and gently mouths them during play. He takes treats well from an open palm, but when offered with fingertips, he may grab eagerly and accidentally catch fingers. Behavior: Occasionally, he may wake up and bark at a sound in the house, but he calms quickly when reassured. Aside from separation anxiety, no major behavioral issues have been observed. Health Notes: X-rays show a possible issue with the left hip. He has mild patellar luxation, with the right knee graded 2 and the left knee graded 1. When he was rescued, he had kennel cough and mycoplasma, completed treatment, and has fully recovered. Additional Notes: He rides calmly in the car and has been comfortable on rides up to 2 hours. He is comfortable in a dog stroller and relaxes in it. He loves treats very much and sometimes needs calming cues like “sit” before receiving them. He enjoys being petted and likes staying close to people he loves, but he is also comfortable resting on his own at a short distance. When people are eating foods he does not recognize as his own, he calmly lies down under the table or nearby. He enjoys fruits and vegetables such as apples, lettuce, and sweet potatoes. When people become excited, dance, or jump around, he gets excited and may attempt mounting behavior by holding onto legs. He behaves very well during grooming. He has completed hygiene grooming sessions of about 40 minutes. He was slightly sensitive during nail trimming but manageable. Ideal home: A family where at least one person can spend most of the day with him. Additional Comments Yeonu was very attached to his foster mom at first and became anxious when she left, even if others were home. With time and some distance created, he improved a lot. After 3–4 weeks, he only whines briefly when she leaves, though being completely alone is still hard for him. Despite this, he is a very relaxed and easygoing dog. The day after arriving, he was already comfortable lying on the sofa, sleeping on his back with his belly up. He accepts baths calmly, though he may shake off water once or twice. He doesn’t like the hair dryer, but will stay still if it’s on a stand and he’s brushed while drying. Tooth brushing is still being trained; he doesn’t enjoy it but tolerates it well without growling or biting. He knows several commands, including sit, paw, high five, nose touch, V sign, and wait. Food allergies have not been confirmed. Like many Bichon-type dogs, he has tear staining that causes discoloration around his mouth and paws. With proper care and identifying the allergens, this should improve over time. He will also need regular maintenance and grooming, like most Bichons. 🌼Yeonu is a sweetheart and is ready to find his forever family to shower him with love and cuddles!💖 For adoption inquiries, please email/ fill out an adoption application via our link on our instagram bio.🌸

Story
Rosie is a 2 year old mixed dog (~65 lbs) who loves cuddling with people and playing with other dogs. She unfortunately does not do well in the city, and I am looking to find her a home where she can run and play! She loves hikes and swimming, but is less inclined to go on a walk, where she has low confidence around cars and roads. She came to me from a rescue in Texas at 6 months old. During that time she never got to experience outside life and had very limited exposure to people. It was clear when I got her that she was not destined for city life, but needed a lot of work to build trust with people. Flash forward and she is the most loving girl! She’s skeptical of strangers initially, but will soon be cuddling in their lap once she realizes they are friends. Behaviorally she is so so sweet. She’s a couch potato, but also loves playing with other dogs. She is also great with cats and kids. She has very good household manners, and is crate trained.

Story
Keel is a playful little fluff nugget! He has met people of all ages, and has loved interacting with all of them. Keel loves going outside to run around, play with a tennis ball, or chew on any stick he can find. He is learning how to come when you clap your hands and call “Puppy!” especially if you have a treat! He has also discovered the joy of warm air in his fur while sitting on the floor heat vent. An observant puppy, Keel will let you know when anything exciting is going on. Keel rides well the car, comfortable either sitting in the back seat with the kids, or riding in his crate. While Keel isn’t much of a lap dog yet, he is perfectly happy curled up next to you on the couch. He has lots of energy, and his tail gets super waggly when you walk into the room!
