Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Junco is a 12‑pound Cavalier with a soft coat, a tender heart, and a shy, thoughtful personality. He’s still learning that the world is a safe place, and every day he shows a little more confidence. He loves gentle pets under his chin, on his back, and on his belly, but he ducks away from hands reaching over his head — a small sign of his sensitive nature. With patience and kindness, he’s slowly discovering how good affection can feel. He’s a wonderful car traveler and does well in his crate. Leashes are still scary for him, so he freezes when one is clipped on. Because of this, a fully fenced yard is required — he’s not ready for walks yet and needs a secure space to explore safely. Inside the home, he’s mastered the stairs and loves wandering around to investigate every cozy corner. Junco has a funny, endearing habit of collecting “soft treasures” like blankets, plush toys, and socks. He’ll gather them into a little pile and guard them from the other dogs with a quiet growl. When he’s not protecting his stash, he enjoys being around the other dogs and plays by bumping his bottom into them — a goofy little move that shows his growing confidence. He’s still working on potty training and adjusting to new people and loud environments. He’s gentle, skittish, and cautious, but he gives the sweetest little kisses and does adorable play bows when he’s proud or excited. He loves soft dog beds, warm blankets, and exploring the yard when the weather isn’t too cold. He enjoys soft treats and is learning to like blueberries and bananas. He may have a chicken sensitivity, so avoiding chicken‑based foods is best. Junco isn’t a big cuddler yet, but he likes being held when carried and appreciates calm, predictable affection. He’s a lovely match for a quiet home, patient humans, and a lifestyle that lets him blossom at his own pace. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home.
