Story
Please don’t tell Archie that he weighs just about 3 pounds. He’s convinced he’s a giant. Archie is a teeny (only in stature) Cavalier King Charles spaniel puppy with a huge personality. He’s playful and feisty, determined and smart. He will cuddle and loves to be held – especially when he’s sleepy and wants to snuggle. He’s doing a fantastic job with potty training and is great in his pen. Archie was relinquished by a breeder because of a broken leg. We took him to the orthopedist who found that he is missing some of the bones in his right front wrist, likely due to an injury that happened when he was very young. It doesn’t stop him from running and zooming and doing all the normal puppy things. It will be something to watch as he grows and may never need to be addressed. We also found that Archie has an arrhythmia and a very very soft heart murmur. He visited the cardiology team at the University of Georgia and they said that, like his leg, it’s something to watch as he grows. In the meantime, Archie gets to play and cuddle and act so much tougher than he is – and he’s ready to start looking for his forever home. We would prefer he joins a family with Cavalier experience, only because these sweet pups often go hand in hand with medical issues. He will need someone willing to follow up with an orthopedist and cardiologist as needed. Archie is being fostered in the metro Atlanta area, so priority will be given to local, qualified adopters. He would prefer a home with a small, friendly pup who doesn’t mind if Archie wants to believe he’s the biggest dog. He wouldn’t mind being the only dog as long as his person wasn’t gone all day. Archie knows he’s adorable but doesn’t (always) let it go to his head. He deserves a forever family who thinks he’s absolutely perfect.
