Story
Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Heath is fun-loving, HIGHLY intelligent, goofy, fully motivated, very affectionate, and exemplifies the term “go-dog.” Whatever you want to get out of the house and do, Heath wants to do it with you. He is fully obedience trained (including sit-stay, down-stay, heal, loose-leash-walking, “place,” etc…) and loves working with his humans. He is an expert at running agility courses and is always up for a new challenge. He is so smart and obedient, he almost became a search and rescue dog! If you want a buddy who can motivate you and keep up with you while you go for a long run, take a challenging hike, go for a bike ride, or just spend time with you outdoors, and then come home and snuggle with you on the couch, Heath is the right dog for you! Heath adores every person he has ever met, and he really enjoys a good cuddle and some love, and seeing him smile ear to ear will always brighten your day. He really enjoys playing fetch and tug-of-war. He loves training and working through his obedience cues. He is high energy and would love to live in a yard with a 6 foot fence so he can gallop and play around with you at home. Heath loves other dogs and would do best with another dog who is as playful and goofy as he is, he could also make a great only dog. He would love to live with a family with older children, a couple, or to be the best buddy to a single owner. Don’t let his middle-age fool you, Heath is a young dog in his heart, body, and soul. He is always ready to jump right into a new adventure with a big grin, high-hopes, and a whole heart. Everyone who works at the boarding facility where he currently lives, wants to take him home, he is just that charismatic and sweet. If you think Heath may be right for you, please come on by and see him. Don’t miss out on this one. He’d be so happy to meet you!   No cats!!!!  If you are interested in Heath, please contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com      *** Click here to sponsor this dog! *** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 8, 2024, 2:43 pm

Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Oogie came into Reach Out Rescue in early 2018 and was adopted by an amazing man.  They shared walks, movies, and even the recliner at times!  Oogie had found his forever human, and they quickly became 'a man with his dog.'  They spent 5 great years together and Oogie continued to be the best boy ever. Sadly his person passed away suddenly, and Oogie found himself once again, all alone. He has been placed in boarding until the family can get things settled, so we are sure he is scared, sad, and confused as to what suddenly happened to his best friend. Fortunately, once a RORR dog, always a RORR dog, so his family notified our rescue, and he has been brought back into the rescue to once again find the perfect loving family!  Could you be them? Notes from his extended family: Oogie  loves to cuddle and be near his people, but he's also happy to run around the backyard. He has a tendency to chase smaller animals like cats/rabbits/squirrels. No kitties in the home for this boy.   He is about 65 pounds but needs to lose some weight.  Oogie is up to date on his vaccines. He is used to being home with someone, so he has not been in a crate. He is truly a great dog.EXTRA, EXTRA, NEWEST FOSTER UPDATE ON OUR GOOD BOY: Looking for a best friend? Here's Oogie, a 55lb lap dog! He loves to be on my lap on my recliner watching the Chief's Game. He loves to be right next to you - on the sofa, in bed, on your lap. He loves car rides, walks, hanging out on my back deck, playing fetch & tug-of-war. Sadly his human passed away suddenly & I'm fostering him until he finds his forever home. He has been loved & cared for his whole life. He's about 6 - . Needs a fenced yard to roam around in & would like to be an only dog so he gets all the attention. Does play nicely with other dogs.No cats If you are interested in Oogie, please contact:   rorrcanine@gmail.com         *** Click here to sponsor this dog! *** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 8, 2024, 2:43 pm

Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Poppy is a great all around family dog and one who you will be proud to call 'Our girl.' Her foster says 'She is a total sweetheart', and she gave us a great write up on Poppy, so you can get to know her before you ever see her.  Poppy is happiest when lying in the sun or napping next to you on the couch. She also likes to sleep at the end of the bed next to your feet.  She is completely housetrained and has never had an accident in the house (she currently enjoys the freedom of a fenced in yard for potty breaks). She will let you know when it is time to play with her tennis ball or go for her daily walk to explore the neighborhood by giving you a look and a bark. Unfortunately, she has issues with smaller dogs and has bitten them when provoked or feeling jealous, so no smaller dogs in her new family. She plays well with bigger dogs and goes to doggy daycare twice a week for socialization, where the staff absolutely adores her. She currently lives with a 70lb coonhound mix who she likes to play with. Poppy came to us three years ago with severe separation anxiety issues but has come a long way and does well for a few hours in her “indestructible” crate – just give her a peanut butter-filled Kong and she will do okay while you go out for a bit. Poppy is looking for a home where she can be the center of your world and she will repay you with unconditional love and companionship. What makes Poppy great… ·         Relatively low energy dog who just enjoys being with her owner(s). She has bouts of energy and will want to play fetch but never for too long. ·         Zero food aggression. She eats when she is hungry, and she loves to savor her treats and thinks ice cubes are the best treat ever! ·         Loves to go on walks and they don’t have to be super long – 10-15 minutes a night keeps her happy, but will happily join you on a longer walk when possible. ·         LOVES people and will happily greet your guests with enthusiasm. She has been around small children with no issues. ·         Well socialized with dogs her size or bigger by going to doggy daycare twice a week (and will be zonked out all night after a day of playing). However, she seems to be more interested in people than other dogs in general. ·         Knows basic commands like sit, shake and come. ·         She is great in cars. She will chill out in the back seat and just enjoy the view. ·         Overall very healthy with no major issues. Where Poppy has some challenges… ·         Separation anxiety – would not do well for long days without someone home – highly recommended that she be crated while alone to avoid any damage to property. ·         Aggression toward smaller dogs – when feeling jealous or annoyed. ·         Good on leash but could use more training/reinforcement as she will get overly excited (pulling, barking) when she sees another dog.   Full of life and love, she is all ready to be yours. She has had a complete vetting and has all her shots. All she needs now to complete her world is for you to clip on your leash, bend over, and say 'Let's go home, Poppy'. If you are interested in Poppy, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 8, 2024, 2:43 pm
