Story
Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
This tall, chocolate Lab mix is as handsome as he is tennis-ball obsessed! Ricochet is a true ball FUNATIC—and we mean it. Say the magic words, “You ready?” and watch his whole face light up. He’ll drop the ball right at your feet, tail wagging, waiting for the next throw… and the one after that… and the one after that. If you pause too long, those big, soulful eyes will melt your resolve until you give in. (Trust us—you always will.)But Ricochet isn’t just about fetch. Beneath his athletic side is a big, sensitive sweetheart who loves nothing more than to curl up and snuggle like he’s a 10-pound lapdog. He’s proof that even big dogs can be softies at heart. 💕Ricochet has lived peacefully with cats before, so he may be open to some feline friends in his next home.Ricochet has been deemed Potentially Dangerous in Maryland due to repeated incidents of running loose, barking, and behaving aggressively toward other people and dogs. This is not the same as being deemed dangerous—it simply means he’ll need a responsible adopter committed to keeping him safely managed. For more details, our staff will be happy to explain what this means. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, tennis-ball-toting best friend who will fill your life (and your yard) with love and laughter, Ricochet might just be your perfect match. 🎾🐾Ricochet's adoption fee is $50, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply! _When it comes to our pets, we're all-inclusive! Story
Meet Cooksi! This sweet 4-year-old, 45lb Lab mix is a gentle girl with soulful eyes and a heart that’s slowly learning just how good life can be. After spending most of her life in a quiet, rural setting, Cooksi has recently landed in the big, noisy city—and while that’s been a lot to take in, she’s adjusting beautifully. She can be shy at first, especially with new people or environments, but if you give her a calm hello and a little patience, she’ll quickly flop over and politely (then not-so-politely) demand belly rubs, complete with a paw tap or two to make sure you don’t forget she’s there. At home, Cooksi is an absolute dream. She’s fully housebroken, crate-trained, and happily sleeps through the night or a full workday without issue. Her crate is a cozy, positive space where she eats and rests, though she may occasionally remind you—with a soft little cry—that she’d rather be out hanging with you. She loves lounging on the couch or her dog bed, chewing on bones, and collecting toys… and sometimes random items like gloves or laundry, just to keep things interesting. She’s not a velcro dog, but she does like being nearby, quietly keeping you company while she naps (which she does expertly).Walks are still a work in progress for Cooksi. She enjoys calm, low-key strolls where she can sniff around and keep an eye on squirrels and birds, but busy streets, loud noises, and lots of activity can feel overwhelming. When things get hectic, she’d much rather do her business and head back to the safety of home. She’s treat-motivated, eager to please, and gaining confidence every day—especially when she has another dog around to help show her the ropes. Cooksi would thrive in a patient, loving home that understands her sensitive nature and is happy to let her blossom at her own pace. In return, you’ll get a loyal, affectionate, toy-hoarding best friend who just wants to be near her people. ??If you’d like to take this pupper home, please fill out an adoption application at this link – https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application. The adoption fee is $300 and covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like this one for their forever homes. By the time you meet them, they’ve already been spayed/neutered (if age-appropriate) and microchipped. They’ve been checked by a veterinarian and are up to date on necessary vaccinations, including Rabies and DHLPP. They have also been tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases and have started heart

Story
I regret that I need to find a new home for my 4 yr old Lab, Stella. I acquired Stella in 2021 for my wife, who suffers from severe bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders. We also lived on a 40 acre farm. Unfortunately, my marriage did not work out, and I am currently living in a small apartment in the city. I am gone a large portion of the day, and have someone hired with Rover to come take her on a walk mid day. A perfect storm of me being offered a position that will require significant travel, the young man from Rover relocating - I just know that I can no longer give Stella the lifestyle she will thrive from. She is very well behaved, gets along with other dogs, even cats, and children. She has never exhibited aggressive behavior, ever. She is house trained, crate trained, and has a large vocabulary of words she understands. It's important to know she is a large dog that requires frequent exercise.

Story
Breed(s): Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Mix Age: 3 years Weight: 65 pounds Vetting Status: Neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative & maintained on preventatives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking for a dog that is all about YOU? A best friend, a loyal companion? Trevor may just be your guy! This handsome, eager to please fella was found as a stray, completely emaciated. He gained over 25 pounds and looks like a completely different dog! Trevor is crate trained, but much prefers having less restrictions and more freedom. His house manners have been stellar in his foster home -- no accidents or incidents. Trevor loves people, a love bug that wants to be the center of someone's world! Hanging out and being in your presence & playing with his K-9 companions fulfills his days. Stuffed Kongs are certainly on the favorites list too. This sweet boy is a highly intelligent and rapidly picked up on learning an array of commands to include sit, lay, paw, kennel, down and no. Trevor also enjoys going for a car ride & will gladly offer to ride shot gun on all your important trips... petstore, mcd's, bank with a drive thru giving out cookies, etc. Trevor has been exposed to a vast array of other dogs, both big & small. He would love to have K-9 companions, but surely would not argue with being a SHD (single hound dog) & the center of attention. Cats seem super fun to chase (eek!) and would NOT be recommended. If you think Trevor may be the pup for you, please visit the link below to fill out an application. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TREVOR is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!
